Thank you so much! I haven’t yet received my Glowforge but am doing as much research as I can before hand. Question for you: when you disassemble like this, do you have to then re-calibrate your machine somehow?
You can use the contact cleaner I refer to in the video description, though I'm not sure it will have much effect (be sure to let dry before plugging back in). Personally, I'd unplug the machine and wipe dilegently with Naptha and then let it dry (it evaporates fast) before plugging it back in.
@@TFJotin the screw on the pulley? I imagine it is not so much how tight but making sure you have the black pulley wheel pushed over to the right as much as needed to keep the belt taut. Tighten while sufficiently taut. The first time I tried, it was loose and cut a little wiggly. Once I made sure it was taut and tightened, all was good.
@@TFJotin I can’t answer with any specificity. I created this video over a year ago. Tight enough to hold it in place, but not so tight as to constrict movement or strong or break something. I apologize that I cannot be clearer. My problem was I thought I had it all the way to the right but did not. There was a little room. One I remedied it, my initial issue was fixed. Best to you.

Hi. I have two other videos that discuss cleaning. One covers the fan in the back (the Addendum video). It is an older video, much like this one. There are those who actually remove the fan, but it is more difficult and, depending on how you handle it, void your warranty. My second video covers the air assist. It is more recent. I'm just thrilled someone is using the passthrough slot successfully :) I just got my GF Pro and bought that model specifically for the passthrough slot. So far it's been a little hit or miss.

I’m looking to do a wall sign, but one that has multiple layers to it do give it depth because it would with the multiple pieces cut out. I’m trying to get a grasp of how you’d create something like that but designing it from an image from like an 8 bit video game or something. If that makes sense?

Thanks for posting this! I sell art and crafts on the side from mine and it has gotten really nasty, similar to yours. We're about to move it indoors from our garage setup (overheating) and we're going to deep clean it before bringing it indoors

I do not have another machine. I simply don't laser as much as I did. When I do laser, it is for the purpose of a video or for small presents. When I first got it, I had a lot of things in mind, but they involved the passthrough. Years went by with no passthrough. They've just now gotten it to work. I imagine I'll be using it more again now that it's functional. Do you have a Glowforge?
@@MrChucklepuff , roger that. Good luck on the clean. I did this video before Glowforge posted any directives about cleaning and before others posted videos and such. With that said, be sure to look at other videos and compare. I know in this one I missed the air assist hiding behind/under the laser head. Take care.

Thanks again for all the kind comments Dale. I've thought about selling files...maybe I will at some point. It was originally the plan, but I know I enjoy free stuff and I've always been impressed with people who give stuff away and allow people to use said stuff for commercial purposes (Andrew Kramer, from Video Copilot is at the head of the list). So, that's what I do. It's my way of contributing back and saying thanks to the others. In the future maybe I'll allow the files to be free for the first two weeks or month and then put them on a site to sell for a few bucks. But until then.... Thanks again. Another great video my friend. I think I may have mentioned, I have used photoshop since photoshop version 2 infant i still a full cd copy of version 3 hehehe, so I have been using it for a while. I will eventually get around to doing some photographs, I have hundreds of thousands on various external drives since switching over to digital in 2006 from film. I have made a lot of blue bird houses in my life time, kind of a fun project I have don't at every place I have ever lived. You sir, have done a great job with this tutorial from start to finish and this is by far the most upscale, fancy bird house I have ever seen and I suspect it will last long enough to be passed onto your great great grand children, you need to make several m ore or there will be fights for who gets it. I am a leather worker, so as I am watching this, I am thinking to myself, this is a great project for some 3-4 ounce leather. I have already told you my daughters are grown and gone, but you still cant take the kid of of folks, if you could me and you wouldn't be making toys, I love this and I know Jess will as well, Thanks for showing us how you made it and if and when I get around to it, I will definitely hit you up and let you know how it turned out. As you can probably tell, Im at home this morning watching all of your videos, watched the original one I commented on first, then started at the beginning and have watched on through, I love this one. Again, it is so nice to see you using photoshop and illustrator. I have a background in photoshop, so illustrator is new to me this year. I have had a few times is has not worked for me when i saved it as a svg, so i will try to make sure next time nothing is checked, because i have left all the default stuff checked. SO thanks again for you help and dumbing down the illustrator program and making the tutorials for laser users. I don't need to know all the other stuff it can do for right now, just getting started, just the basics for my application which is design for laser use. So thanks again, This signature of your daughter looks great on her door. I could see both of my girls wanting the same when they were younger. They are both in their mid 20's now and have flown from the coop. I am glad to see this technology is working to make for some fun projects while your kids are still at home. Thanks again my friend.
