Original Chieftain AVRE, was an Ex Berlin Brigade Mark 5, with the turret removed, and the frame was made from old Bailey panels, to drop the fascine you pulled hard on a piece of rope.
I’m a bit late viewing this but better late than never! It’s a superb video, shot from a great vantage point and with equipment that gives lovely clear images and sound. Of course the subject matter helps and we’re watching well drilled guards and listening to two professional bands faultlessly playing some lovely pieces. Senior Drum Major Chambers to add the icing on the cake 😎 Belated thank you for sharing your video👍
I was in the Canadian Army Soldier Apprentice program , 1960 to 62. Very much the same parade, same music and drill. Royal Canadian Signals ( airborne)
I was there that day (a bit further to the right) first time ever (my father was an Irish Guard) it was wonderful to see so thank you for this ‘momento’! 😊
I loved to see the excitement of school children skipping to see the bands and then marching in time to the music mimicking the Guardsmen across the street.
LOL. I only played woodwind, and that was hard enough. The strange sounds the bassoon makes whilst marching are like a dying elephant. French Horn is a rasping nightmare - evidently. Only in the British army can it be made to work!
When the guards were trained at the guards depot Pirbright there would be about four or five platoons passing out on the same day. I know the army is shrinking but this is taking the piss. If a war broke out we would really struggle to muster a fighting force today.
Hat wahrscheinlich Ohrenschutz drinne. Ist aber auch nicht dermassen laut, er ist hinter den Trommeln und hört deshalb wahrscheinlich nur die Trommeln.
The Maskot Pony is Brilliant , stays there with nothing to move , with an Face like oh God let the End comes 😂😅, and she/he has a lot Dekorations , but thx for your Service Fellows , you do an great out there in the World .
I do hope I haven't caused offence to anyone as I haven't looked into the history of military bands I just have so much respect and admiration for all these guys and gals Is that Emma I see there?
