Man, I am loving the way you teach, where do you learn all this things? Is there any course that you did in Udemy for example? I need to learn more of Unity.
I’ve learned through a tonne of different pathways. The trick is to keep making as much random stuff as possible. Don’t worry if it’s crap, just mass produce as much stuff as possible && enjoy every second of it- especially when it fails & goes wrong. In fact, seek out failure because that’s where the edge of your knowledge lies!!!
Just a quick question on this, if I don't have the particle object selected (highlighted active) in the hierarchy when I am running the game (ie. I select World) the waves disappear. Do I need to move the Particle object into another folder (ie. Water) or similar or should I leave it where you created it? If this is covered later, don't need to explain, I intend on continuing with this little project. If this should not be happening please let me know and I will review the video again. If I have any significant questions I will jump into Discord (as you suggested), cheers again!
It might be a couple of things but I’d wager it’s a sorting order issue. Either change the order in layer in the particle system’s renderer settings or just drag it physically nearer to the camera (that might work - try it).
I might have had to slow you down 25% because I am getting older ha ha, but the guide is very good, thank you very much... looking forward to where we go from here!
Thanks! Your tutorials inspired me to explore this style & im transfixed by it! Utterly insane visual flair to it in part thanks to your incredible insights!!!
Have to say: this is making learning to make games fun! definitely teach us more!! 1 criticism I would have is the text is a bit small to see but I do note you are zooming in for us thank you :)
Yoooo, thats some great praise man. I'm working on a project and helping a friend out with his which is reall sapping my time. I've got more planned and even bits recorded. Just gotta magic up some time. I'll try for one this weekend if I can, I really wanna drop a devLog of this game I'm making too. Feel free to drop by the discord if you've not already. I'm active on discord all day long while I'm devvin.
I’m trying! You wouldn’t believe the absolute insanity I’ve been devvin. Dude, jump in the discord and come pick my brain for anything you need! I got you \o/
Dude this tutorial it's awesome! I started with Godot a few months ago and switched to Unity. Both are great , but im falling in love with Unity's engine . Thanks for the content!
Unity is my home man. Godot has a great experience, but I just love the absolute raw power unity provides & all the muti-platform support & endless power to customize it just makes it a blank slate begging to be turned to into your own personal game forge!
I've recorded some but I just need find a bit of time to edit them. NGL, PalWorld & my personal gameDev projects are consuming my soul a bit right now xD. Might make some "How to remake PalWorld tutorials" soon too?
@@codenoob223 You're more than welcome to drop into the Discord & chat in the meantime. I'm always happy to hear about the projects everyone is working on :D
earned my sub! these tutorials are so much smoother and easier to follow than most others, best part is i can save this project and always refer back to it when needing to do something on another! ❤
Thanks! I put a lot of time into practicing it before recording it & writing down exactly what I wanted to cover to stay on track - glad to see its not gone unnoticed! Feel free to drop by the discord & show me what you're working on. I wanna share my knowledge so we can all build some really cool experiences \o/
Great Question! I've actually implemented that feature in a previous game of mine - Crate Mage - which you can play over on my itch page (soundy777.itch.io). To achieve this I used the input to push the player 1 tile in the input direction via the Vector3.MoveTowards function. Prior to the movement though the player I use Physics.OverlapCircleNonAlloc to test for walls, anything with an IPushable interface or the exit and respond to that accordingly by either denying the movement into that location or activating some special case (like exiting the level). I'll make a video on this to demonstrate how you'd go about acheiving it, you can do it in a dozen different ways.
In 2022 LTS it’s moved across to the left of where it is in this video (made using 2021 LTS). Jump in the discord & screenshot your editor & I can help troubleshoot the issue. I’m about to pass out so I’ll respond in a couple hours.
I would have jumped on this tutorial about a month ago but since switching to Godot and finally enjoying game development I've uninstalled Unity! My advice for a newbie choosing an engine and deciding on Unity or Godot then trust me, Godot wins hands down.
Godot is a fun time as well as Unity. I’ll consider making a Godot series in the future because I agree there is a lot of cool stuff that you can build with it. Thanks for dropping by :3
That’s my goal. For me I do all the math and code in my head long before I hit the IDE. This gives you so much power and ownership over the development process & allows you to have incredible amounts of fun making everything & anything you can imagine.
Why the vegetation distribution - would there be a way to create a rule tile that lays down green land tiles, then randomly assigns whether it’s covered with a grass tile, flower tile or nothing, as well as maintaining the rules for island edges?
This should be easily achieved by changing the flat green square from sprite to random mode and populating it with the grass sprites and the green sprite representing the empty grass/ground tile. I personally don’t tend to bake that into the rule tiles as I enjoy having more control over the level design process, but I can see how it could be sometimes beneficial. I’m eager to see what you’ve been making so feel free to jump on the discord and hit me up anytime.
@@Soundy777 oh, and the tuts are INVALUABLE, thank you. I have a development background but C# and Unity are new to me, so I’m having a lot more fun because of your help
@@noderoad can’t wait to see the magic you make. Check out taroDev, codeMonkey, speedTutor, BlackthornProd, infallibleCode & the dozen others I have listed on my channel page. There is so much great content & im working in more of my own for you & everyone as we speak.
