Much Love and respect to all the Polynesian panthers. Here and worldwide. Fighting for equal rights and justice. paving the way for the future generations ❤️🙏🏽
I came here again after hearing the passing of Desmond TuTu. I write this so people can understand the significance of what the Polynesian panthers and allies did in 81 on the viewpoint of someone who is not of Polynesian or Maori or Aboriginal blood that are indigenous to that region that new zealand is located. What basically happened is while that situation was part of the global fight against racism it was not part of their local issue they were dealing with. Yet they put that aside to show solidarity to others. And it cost them dearly that it broke up the movement. Something that other movements did not face because they were either stopped by things that was internal. This was caused by an external element that had internal repercussions which makes the Polynesian panthers and their story very unique for the sacrifice they made and outside of the black panthers was the only other panther organization that created an international incident. So the people involved must be recognized not only in NZ not only in Polynesia but internationally across the diaspora as well. The fact that the great Desmond Tutu came and basically saved the lives of those who were going to be railroaded by the system and the story of some of them having to flee when the system onw courts freed them because the system's enforcers were out to get them after the verdict is a story never to be forgotten and must be told beyond the shores of NZ. From a black man from Trinidad and Tobago I give thanks for your sacrifice for your people and standing up for others in the battle of liberation you had to endure. Salute to you and your wonderful people and communities. Peace. And rest in power Desmond Tutu, we say some of us in our black diaspora rest in power because the power of their impact and legacy of what they did in life will never leave us and will live on for times to come.
I have a very clear memories of Ponsonby GreyLynn during the 70s.I arrived in Auckland 1970 second lot of multi emigrants from Samoa. My English was not very good but i knew what was going on.. I spent alots of hours outside the Panthers office. I had 3 friends going in and out of the office and then they all came out together and said that we have a job, was to follow the task force van and report back. I wish i had a VIDEO. My friends Viki , Vincent and David. The way the treaed my people and my maori cousins were Dam EVIL... Im still living in the area.
It’s amazing how systematic racism to deprive & degrade our beautiful people is still alive & well today in 202!! He was so damn right about the media feeding a certain narrative to the public!! Fascinating documentary thank you for sharing!
Lots of ethnic people are lost in a system not made for us. I hope our youth can make smarter choices for their future and their children. Get right brothers, because they're deporting us for anything nowadays. Even dudes with terrorism charges hardly get deported compared to our Maori and island brothers. What a joke.
@@markreynolds1112 I'm talking about anybody who is at risk of being deported. I was born here and I can be deported because one of my parents isn't a citizen. Because my birth certificate isn't proof of citizenship apparently.
@@markreynolds1112 I cannot get a passport unless I pay for my parents proof of citizenship. I do not want to pay for someone's important documents who I haven't seen in almost 20 years.
@@samuelmmmk181 really so sum one whos immigrated frm china has to do the same even tho thr parnts want nothing to do with ths cuntry? im pretty sure u can obtain citizenship without having to pay 4 other ppls documents?
@@markreynolds1112 No, that's the fucked part. I AM a citizen. I just have to Pay the federal government money for them to basically agree. Which isn't right. If I can live here work here and pay our taxes, why can't I have a passport? I was fuckin born here. There should be no reason I have to prove parental citizenship.
@@sanidee everything about this documentary was great but to attack a person you don't know or know anything about because of your own personal views is wrong. there's no way to justify it. I look back on confrontations with people and am disgusted with myself but I see a sense of pride here when talking about assaulting people. Its like attacking a person at a call center because you hate vodafone. It reminds me of Security being assaulted during the ttpa protest. These guys are human beings, the same guys you go to church with, whos kids are at school next to your own. The people you rely on. But because of a goverment decision to allow a rugby tour that you don't like you gear up with helmets and weapons and proceed to surround and attack a bunch of young outnumbered probably terrified police officers? The south African media didn't even care from what we were taught in school. The example Martin Luther King set was better. He was stronger man than that entire mob combined.
Be quiet and spare us the two wrongs argument. Its the oppressor way of saying to the oppressed you cant defend yourselves from oppression. But the ones doing it can still do it. RUBBISH. You dont want the wrong do not commit the wrong in the first place. Where there is action expect an equal reaction in return. That's how nature the planet and the universe always works. You are not in any position to moralise and act holier than thou what someone should be doing on any level when it comes to this. Who are you to judge? The difference is this, those who created the wrong did it because they want to, the ones you accuse committed the wrong in retaliation do it because they HAD to and are usually doing it out of fighting for liberation. The documentary alone shows not just the pain that the people went through but some of the scars it left behind. Yet you wanna preach. If my ancestors listened to that nonsense i very much doubt the caribbean would have been freed from slavery as what is never mentioned in the history books is how consistent rebellions and in few occasions an all out war made the region the british controlled ungovernable so they had to find another solution that favored them but also concessions to the people disrupting things for them. That pattern always springs up when you look at the whole history and not the history they tell you.
@@MAXIMPACTTVso the white racist Pigs Police picking out and arresting Polynesians out on the streetsin the 70s for no reasons. Says alot about the Government system. Using their pawn Police to do their racist work.
Thanks for making the videos (part 1 to part 3). I'm using some of the quotes and info from these videos to help my teacher become aware of the actions and consequences of the Polynesian Panthers in NZ (1970's). I found this doco useful. And God bless all the people that were involved in this movement. I am grateful for the changes that they brought about, in NZ
Interesting story much love to Pacific Islanders gods people much respect I’m Latino my parents came to oz same thing growing up I grew up with islanders my son half Tongan God bless us all 🙏🙏
I really enjoy watching these stories really moving and should be moving for all Polynesian people. I will use these stories in my studies for me as a Polynesian I appreciate what needed to be done to have a voice today.
Makes me so angry watching this. Hats off to all Maori Samoans and Blacks Africans and every Polynesians who fought against Human rights and the White Supremacy. Thank you for your courage.
All over the world one kind of people. Oppress many kinds of people and the many can't stop the one kind .They are human beings cancer when you don't cut it out it kills the whole body eventually.
Glad I saw this, though it's sobering to reflect on how things were - and still are in many ways. Injustice and oppression stings. - Grey-haired pakeha guy
I have seen this video twice and it, as well as many other things, verifies my claim that Robert Muldoon was the worst PM that New Zealand has ever had. He was a racist, narcissistic POS that I, a "white" Kiwi, refuse to acknowledge any connection with.
These guys all need to be recognised for such an achievement. This part of NZ history is so significant and influential in the way NZ is today that this SHOULD be COMPULSORY part of history class that’s taught in school. I’ve only come across this in 2019 and it’s amazing to learn and hear the history of what went on during early days of NZ. So much value in this documentary that all Polynesian and Pakeha can take from this to help understand each other so that we can continue to move forward as one and as New Zealanders.
Watching this with difficulties holding back tears...hard to imagine what you had to go through. Without you Polynesian Panthers we as PIs & Maoris would've had very limited chance in life with no freedom here in the Kiwi Land today. Utmost respect for the PPs. I highly recommend a day in remembrance of these heroes
You wouldn't have a chance against us without weapons etc We were outnumbered as well. NZ belongs to Maori and PIs..Look like you're from Christchurch. Lol. Go back to Europe.
Their is 100% proof that Maori people were not here first. And theses Tongan and them come here and cry about everything all yous just violent and angry people
This government spent half a million dollars of tax money to research about it. And when they found out it was true the Maori people stopped it so no one finds out. Our captain cook brought this land for us, so yous should be paying rent to us or get out
