Based in the U.K im going to be showing you all the wonderful animals I get to share my life with. Showing how incredible they are but also sharing my knowledge about them and how we look after them. There will also be videos around Zoo's and Zookeeping and how to become one as well teaching you about animal training and methods we use to work along side our animals.
my ultimate goal is to share with you the incredible wildlife I work with whilst encouraging us all to do our part in helping save them in the wild.
I have a second channel devoted to Pokemon mainly pack. openings check It out here ru-vid.com/show-UCDP3uJGcwywRbscRGikIBNg
I hope I respond to my own comment in a few years when I’ve completed school and am officially a zookeeper. This has become my life long dream overnight and I won’t stop until I’m there.
I wish this could be a reality though i think very specific requirements would need to be in place for this to actually work. My biggest concern would be something spooking the owl and they take off. Then again, a well manned bird wont go far and will stick around theit favourite human. So to an extent, it does work but for exceptional circumstances rather than the norms.
Hi there! I love volunteering at various places so much, it's so much fun. But whenever I try to get into a big place like a zoo, even a small one that relies on volunteers, I call them and they tell me to email their volunteer program, and when I do that, they never respond. How do I get their attention well enough to actually take me into consideration and respond? Thank you!
I am a big animal person and I studied the behaviours of turtles since I was 14. Now I work at the Essex County's Turtle Back Zoo and have been working with turtles for around 12 years or so.
I spent 2 years working with Aliigators, raccoons, turtles and Tortoises in south Florida I’m very interested in becoming a zoo keeper thanks for this video.
Poop? No problem! I worked as a nurse and now i clean porta potties!! Haha. Got human poop on me every day, eyes, beard, clothing, the things we deal with make most trainees quit an literally call their wives crying not kidding lol
Tom, Can a person with no experience be trained to be a zookeeper on the job. I love animals more then people. I can't afford any schooling I'm 37 years old and have 4 kids. I've looked after many animals. Dogs , cats, raccoons, possums amd bears. I know that's nothing like a zoo.
I’m a Zoo Animal Care student and had to talk to visitors during work experience at my local zoo. Engaging with visitors is very important as they help fund the zoo so that staff can keep the animals happy and healthy. 🫶
I'm really not a talkative person either. But I find it very easy to talk about the things I love, things like animals! Though each zoos keeper positions are different, educating the public kind comes along with it to some extent. Who knows, you may suprise yourself!
Ridiculous and dangerous to say the least! You are free to do what you want, but to use this as an informative and positive approach to the general public is madness!!!!
I explain multiple times throughout the video this is what WE do and why it works for US. I at no point say this if what every person should do. I encourage people to think differently and not just stick with the same old 'we have always done it that way' but i never state this is how everyone should be doing it because that would be irresponsible. You clearly haven't watched the whole video. Change is scary for people, but we should always be looking for improved better ways to provide our animals with more choice better welfare if our facilities and set ups allow it. Many zoological collections are moving to this way of care for birds of prey. However I would never advise a recreational falconer who owns a bird of prey at home to do this. I would have different advice which would be to seriously consider if you should own a bird of prey. I jabe worked with birds of prey for 15 years I have used traditional methods, and I have moved to this method, I have had far less issues since changing. (Which took 5 years to do wasn't an over night thing). Your comment clearly comes from a good place of not wanting people to lose there birds. But that's explicitly why I state multiple times this is why WE do it.
Keep up the great work! That’s so nice to see them without anklets! Question, are owls to tough to train for a novice falconer? And are they super needy?
What a bloody idiot, the Jess are there so the person flying the bird can hold on to the bird in a dangerous or scary situation. PROTECTING THE BIRD. What a moron
Hey I love your video about zookeepers!!(awesome) I'm hoping one day I will become a zookeeper I looooove animals I'm an animal lover of all kind of species!!!
Yo, I'm 16 and from Austrlia. I recently started my Cert 2 animal care course in Tafe while still in school. So excited to get out in that field of work
Thank you so much for this video, this has truly gotten me excited and hoping to become a zookeeper, I’m definitely that creative person and I’m hoping to find experience but need to do my A- levels first before taking a gap year to volunteer somewhere or apply for an apprenticeship in zookeeping 😭
I just LOVE these videos, they inspire me so much especially when no one else does. I want to open my own zoo one day but I think I'll apply for a zookeeper when I finish high school. But I was wondering how much you get paid an hour? Thanks for your effort in the zoo and this channel!
I’m doing my research portfolio for my school on becoming a zoo keeper and what degrees I could possibly have. I was thinking of a Associate degree in exotic animals and then a bachelors in animal health and science. This video was very helpful though!
your not using anklets or jes because you're playing with pets..basically having a parrot. falconry is the art of "hunting" with a bird of prey..we don't walk through a field or woods constantly throwing food down the birds throat..we're actually hunting. If a Falconer did that their bird would perch in a tree and never come down. stay in your lane
Hi Zookeeper Tom you may not see this comment since this video was made over a year ago but i was just wondering what kind of education you went through to be a zookeeper? I was originally going to get a degree in agriculture and domestic animal services because i was thinking of becoming a groomer but i really love all animals and would love to be a zookeeper.
I wanna be a zoo keeper, but I fu ckin hate dogs. If someone has a service dog I would stay away from them and pretend they aren't there. If they try and ask me a question I won't answer them and walk away.
Yeah, you should try and steal toys from the gift shop and give them to the animals and see how they react. For example, maybe the zoo gift shop has a stuffed animal snake, you could throw it at a horse's head and see how they react
