Yeah, bad 3bet amounts. Eliminate the 2x 3bet from ur game unless u have a monster that can not be beat. You should be 3betting at least to 4x. And if 4x is close to the rest of ur stack, then shove ur whole stack in. In ur 88 hand, villain turn bet 25. U 3bet to 50. U should have 3bet to 100. In ur AK hand, villain flop bet 20, u 3bet to 40. U should 3bet to 80, but since u only had 97 left, 3bet shove the 97. In ur A8 hand, AJ8 flop has a possible flush draw and several possible straights draws. Flop bet was 21, u just called. U should have made it 80 to charge all the possible draws. The turn was a brick offsuit 6, turn bet was 25, thats when u really should have 3bet to 100 to not allow anymore drawing cards to river. When u have a big hand, stop thinking that ur opponents have a bigger hand and 4x 3bet when u should 3bet it. Otherwise what happens is they draw out on u and u lose more than the 4x 3bet amount anyway. So might as well 4x 3bet ur big hand earlier and win the pot. If u happen to lose to a bigger hand anyway, then thats poker, but at least u played right.

No Poker No Life @bradleymhanson Hey Edward, I recommend racing to the $5 blind level. All of the games below that in LA are virtually unbeatable due to the short structure and drop. I have a few thousand hours winning in LA mostly at 5/10 with some 5/5 and 10/20 and I would lose money at 1/2 in LA. For smaller stakes I'd look for a friendly un-raked home game. Some hand review: 1. KJo is a weak hand and is a fold versus an open raise. You smashed the flop and need to be raising. 2. Trips is a strong hand and you need to be betting and raising. 3. QTo is a weak hand especially versus three limps. This is a fold in a high rake environment. As played river is a clear value bet. 4. With 88 you have the nuts and should be raising. 5. Folding KQo vs a 3-bet isn't nitty at all. It's a super clear fold against almost anyone except VIPs. Offsuit non-AK broadway hands are not that strong. 6. Q9s here is probably a fold preflop as well. Suited two gappers are much weaker than one gappers which are much weaker than suited connectors. 4 blinds is a lot to call when you're not even closing the action and it'll be hard to play postflop. 7. It's ok to call AKo in the BB sometimes versus an early open, but when there's another caller it's almost always correct to go ahead and re-raise. 8. Top and bottom is a very strong hand here. Strong enough to raise and get stacks in. There's plenty of one pair aces and draws that will put the money in. 9. I'm unclear on the action preflop here before you, but on the flop you have another strong hand and should raise. 10. Not sure what the stack sizes are, but this is probably a 3-bet. As played it's nice you got the bluff through, but generally you want to choose hands that have some "potential" and also can't win at showdown. For example 98cc would be an amazing bluffing hand as it can't win at showdown and because you can turn a flush draw on 10 cards and a straight draw on 12 additional cards. With KQdd I'd just check and try to get to showdown and look to value bet if I turned or rivered a pair. 5/5 isn't that difficult, but you'll need to play tighter pre-flop and more aggressive with your strong hands to win. Of course, this feedback is under the assumption the primary goal is to win money. If the primary goal is to relax a bit and play some cards then disregard. 🙂

Nice video! I'm no pro but with the AT hand I think the river bet should've been a check knowing the board hits your opponents range more and you have showdown with A high. If going for the bluff I think it would've been better to bet on turn when the queen comes out. This is because when checking turn then betting half pot on river your range is narrowed to basically a slow played queen, jj's, 10's, or nothing, and it looks like your opponent recognized that and went for the hero call (or is just a calling station). when you bet turn on this scenario, you can continue to represent kk's, AA, AQ, etc. trying to get value out of weaker holdings.

My boy, even though you're a Doodyheads fan (SFGIANTS BABY!) I'm going to offer you a piece of very fundamental advise based on more years experience playing than you've been alive. You mentioned buying in for $80 in a 1-2 game and opening your ranges from being so tight. This is fundamentally WRONG. You need massive IMPLIED odds to play wider. That means deep stacks over 200bb generally speaking. When short stacking 40bb you need to be uber tight and very aggressive. You make so few hands already in poker that you can't play loose and make money with short stacks. So you tighten and VALUE TOWN the mistakes of others playing loose.

$2/3 at the Bike or Gardens are both decent games to check out Sure you can’t “beat” the game with the California rake, but its good experience at a lower price than the $3/5 or $5/5 games. You dont have much experience so I would worry more about learning than actually making money right now. You are not ready for $5/5. Also, you play way too many bad hands…. J5 off is especially bad. Look up some preflop charts to study

@mjriemen
@mjriemen Год назад
@@EdwardKhrisFernandez I prefer the Bike, but its $300 cap at $2/3 and really, its kinda wild/high variance. Where you are at, I would probably start with Gardens $200 cap game, see how you feel there, and then proceed. The game at the Gardens is a bit more straightforward. Gardens is really a nicer Casino in my opinion honestly, but I do prefer the action at the Bike. Thats not to say the action at Gardens is bad either. Compared to the games I play here in Vegas, every game in Los Angeles is wild… I try to make it to LA at least one weekend a month just because the games are that good. Even with travel/hotel, its worth it to play in LA even though I could play in Vegas and not pay any travel expenses and sleep in my own bed.

I admire you for putting yourself out there like this when you are fully self aware that you are a new player. The best advice you have gotten is to quit playing 80$ max buy 1/2. With the rake structure it quite literally can not be beaten. Also if you play 10nl online and show a profit over say 25k hands your ready to pretty much print money at 1/3 300$ max buy with a reasonable rake structure.

Not bad tbh! hand selection could improve but at the 1/2 level with a 80 dollar max buy in, it doesn't matter as much. But when you start playing the 1/3 more, defend a little bit more at the big blind and widen up your range as you get to the cutoff-button positions. 3 bet more to as well. much easier said than done but it'll make you more unpredictable when you get comfortable in higher stakes.

82 hand you def need to bet the flop. multi-way you are likely to be the only one with a made flush and you will get value from hands with a naked A,K,Qh. yes it’s polarized but they are just playing their hands, also its not a donk bet if no one raised pre. checking dark is almost never advisable unless you want to get fancy when you are going to check to the preflop aggressor on the flop (ex. BB vs CO open). also just super sus after betting turn. A6 is just a fold pre, if it’s suited then it’s fine but it’s such a junky ace that you may still lose if you hit an A on the board, and it has really no possibility of making a big hand that you’ll get paid with (you can make a straight on 4578 for instance but you’re only getting paid by unlikely coolers like sets etc). good cbet on the flop tho. i probably would have played 44 the same, not much value in betting any street, but you could call a river bet for sure. QJ because stacks are so shallow i don’t hate the flop action but assuming 100bb stacks flop is a pure check call imo. SB and BTN have way more 98 than you, TT was a little odd to see bc you’d expect a 3bet pre with that hand but again this is shallow stacked low stakes so it plays more like a tourney. also you have to understand that when you check raise there it is a bluff and you’re getting called by OESDs and hands that beat you and losing value from villains bluffs. top 2 is a great hand on most boards but on this one it’s a bluff-catcher. rake is bad everywhere but especially bad in LA, which is why it’s really raise or fold pre in these games unless there are like 4 limps in front of you. calling is lighting money on fire. there’s a reason they call these short-cap games rake traps. as a rule i never play at games without at least a 100bb max for this reason. anyways liked the vlog, hope you run good at ur next sesh.

I like to triple the last bet and add in all the limps and blinds for raises. So for two limpers and the blind raise (2x3) + 2 + 2(BB) + 1(SB)= $11. You can adjust for your table if that size doesn't prevent lots of calls.

@@EdwardKhrisFernandez Those “folds here and there” end up costing a lot over the long run. If you’re playing well at $1/2 you can win about $20/hr. If you just make two bad limps pre thats $4, which doesn’t sound like much, but is about 25% of that $20/hr. They cost you much more when you hit a second best hand with a hand you should have folded pre. Dont worry, no one at these stakes cares if you play tight, they’ll still call when you raise with your big hands.

J9 hand turn paired board isnt a good spot to raise bluff. Ur out of position in a multiway limped pot. With the wide limped ranges in the pot, someone couldve made trips. Pick a better spot where the board isnt paired and u have a better semibluff with more outs like an open ended draw or a flush draw. No need to be really deceptive at this level because a lot of other players wont fold. So make sure u dont slowplay ur good hands. If they dont call ur raise preflop, then they had nothing that was playable. Dont get frustrated. It happens. Patience. Dont force it. Let the game come to u. Good luck in Jamul.

Non-Indian casinos in CA cant have slot machines(stupid, 1800's antiquated religious state law because CA is a liberal state), so good players realize that cardrooms run games with short-stack buy-ins as their "slot machines" - games that they just put ignorant butts in poker table seats to collect rake.
