Notice on the engine cowling of the Corsairs, the small rectangle contains a Jolly Roger. This is VF17, Thomas Blackburn the commanding officer. VF17 was to fly from USS Bunker Hill with the Corsair, this film is likely showing landing trials. The Corsair wasn't deemed carrier qualified, and VF17 was given the choice to switch to the F6F Hellcat. They kept the Corsair, felt it the better fighter, thus VF17 was land based in the South Pacific and made an excellent record. A great book on the subject is available, written by Thomas Blackburn, about the history of the Jolly Rogers, VF17.

This footage answered the questions I had about gear door sequencing and resolved discrepancies between the box art and photos I've seen online. Incredibly useful. You never know what a given piece of historical footage can be used for, and I'm thankful you've preserved it.

My father and the fathers of all my school friends served in the British military during World War Two. Thus, they were well-used to communal showers like 4.31 and medical inspections where forty or fifty of them would stand stark-naked on parade for inspection by a Medical Officer. It is therefore little surprise that my school mates and I got little sympathy, in the 1960's, if we complained to our fathers about communal showers after games/ physical education lessons, or undergoing our school medicals totally naked. My father was actually amused that our school doctor was a retired Army Medical Officer and our games teacher was an ex.British Army P.T. Instructor. His attitude was that I was in sound hands and that being 'bollock-naked' on such occasions was all very part of the growing-up process. In hindsight I tend to agree with him. Certainly being entirely naked for communal showers and medical examination had very positive lasting benefits for my body confidence.
American Soldier of the X Corp just passed away. He was 91 Yrs. He told us kids about landing at Inchon, to Pusan, to Chosen (-40°) nearly to Yalu R. then to Hungnam and final evacuation ! He enjoyed his Christmas dinner "immensely" after aboard ship. He remembers the last sight of Korea was watching the explosions of the Hungnam shoreline. He remembered all the little children loved chocolates. He could not remember what ship he left on !

I know better than most how times have changed, when I was a kid in the 1950's men were wearing ties to ballgames, and women wore dresses, however, it still seems silly to go horseback riding and camping, while wearing a white shirt and tie.
I was a SAC crew chief in the 70s and 80s. I thought this would be a great watch.. I was wrong this historic archival footage is great. However, it was destroyed by the clown show that uploaded it..
I wonder if they had separate films about Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. After all it was "English" this and "England" that. Or were they making the usual ill informed Yankee mistake of ASSuming that "Britain is England writ big"? 🤣
Inchon was all for nothing and not that remarkable. Just an overly glorified and overly embellished landing where there were no North Korean troops.. So lightly defended, an old granny could have taken it with her walking stick!. When it really mattered tho, during the Chinese offensive the US could not even defend the Inchon port against half-starved, half frozen ill equipped bare foot Chinese army. The US had to evacuate 135,000 military personnel from there and then blow up the port with all their supplies and many equipment because of pure adulterated cowardice. The US lost the port faster than they were able to capture it from the weakly defending North Koreans. Shame is disgrace for a to be called a military! With all their tanks, planes, jets, Bombers, battle ships, aircraft carriers, M1 Garand rifle.. The so-called greatest battle implement ever devised was not worth a damn.
