This Channel will be home to shorts & extras, maybe some vlogs as well. It's also going to be an experimental playground for stuff I want to try out. It will not be of high quality. It will be absurd. It will often make no sense at all. But so is life
I just wanna say my bf's phone got robbed in Bogotá. We were in a park barely a few minutes after sunset, and we were waiting for a ride. We got unlucky because the transport situation is very complicated at the moment as there are strikes because of the gas prices going up. Anyway, we just reported it to the police and they told us next time we're in an open area, we can call 123 and request the police to accompany us. My reflex was just to run as far as possible and I have no idea if that was the right or wrong thing to do.
Well, gold and silver more than an investing is more like an insurance. Keep your savings in those metals until retirement and you will be rich 🤑. But make sure nobody knows were you hide that treasure because you will be killed.
I, an American, was in Berlin with my German friend at a restaurant. I dont speak German, he is fluent in English, so he and I were chatting in English when the waiter came up. Then my friend ordered in German, and the waiter said to him --- "you know, your German is actually fairly good."
I had that situation talking with a nice German man in Lormarin, France. My German is decent, but he would absolutely not answer me in German. Usually, I can get them to switch to German. Ich habe Deutsch als Soldat in Deutschland gelernt, und auch habe vier Klasse in Uni nachdem gehabt.
...... Not to mention that if you accidentally pronounced a vocal not right ( ex. "grun" instead of "grün") they say "ich verstehe dich nicht", but the Germies who live in Spain since 30 years or more still say "uno cerveza po favò". Unglaublich.
For me it really depends on how good the german is the foreigner is speaking. His german was nearly perfect, no need to switch to english, but if you can barely get two coherent sentences together and have no idea what I am saying to you, sorry to be that person, but I really dont have the time for that. We will talk in english, whether you like it nor not.
You gotta be more German than Germans and say "wir sind in Deutschland wir sprechen Deutsch!" Make sure there's a desk nearby so you can slam it with your fist. Btw Català is def the best lang if u get a problem with this.
Thing is, as a German you just dont expect a foreigner to speak german, as it is not a popular or widly spoken language. We're just not used to it and don't know how to react. After all, even some people linving here since 3 generations cannot speak a proper german,...
In Colombia there is a crime culture that has become too strong. And this even seems to be impulsed by the government which constantly forgives crimminals, corrupts politicians and the like. But I don´t think this will last too long, local people are sick of it too.
My wife informs me that if you want to practice any language without the worry of someone forcing you to speak your native language, go to a bazaar in any Arab country and just speak your target language; she has been to Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, etc and her and her dad used to play the "Shake off the Salesman game" ... for the first few minutes in each bazaar. Basically, you crack on you don't speak English or whatever language they heard you speak in and are now using in an attempt for them to give up at communicating a sale. She had tried pretending to be Spanish, Afrikaans, German, Russian... most salesman knew them all enough to try and communicate a sale. I think she even tried Latin because they just assumed she was some sort of Spaniard and wouldn't leave her alone.
I lived in Germany for around 6 years and I found that once Germans found out that I spoke German pretty well, they wanted to stay with German. I rarely had anyone demand to speak in English.
I think this is not actually true in reality. Perhaps in big cities germans speak English. However I've been to Germany and at first I tried to speak English but almost anybody was able to understand me, so I had no other choice but to really make an effort to speak with my broken german ( I do have to say that it wad better in thst way because I really wanted to practice the language) Nevertheless, as I'm spanish, English is not my first language so that might be the reason why people didn't try to speak English with me although I speak it with a cert proficiency.
Stimmt! Though I've found people are willing to talk to me in German if I ask. Though sometimes I end up just speaking with all the guys in the Döner shops and we can stumble with our B1-B2 German together 🤣
