I love this live show, but it is during the period where Brian didn't have his Earthwood, and the Martin just could never touch the pure huge tone of the Ernie Ball.

Awesome footage! I'm surprised there are that many spectators in that spot for as far back in time as this is. There were none or very few in the years that I photographed it as my second photo location of the day. Nowadays, that location sees a lot spectators. That year, Ivan Stewart won; in addition to his very technical driving and the similarly-technical course, the light and nimble truck surely contributed to his Toyota's victory.
Saw them at Duke Ellington Ballroom in Dekalb Illinois in 1989 or 90. Then twice at Tipitina's in New Orleans, and once at the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans (opening for the B-52s of all things.)
RANDOM GUESS = Back in the 1960s, Ford considered buying SAAB and even gave them some engines (the 96 V4 uses a Ford V4 engine, way better engine than the originals). My guess is that Ford proposed SAAB to do the Baja 1000 as a way to prove their car quality and Ford's engine reliability.
