Best video I've seen yet, very informative and no B.S. nice to see something I'm trying to get info on without a bunch of dumb music and worthless chitchat.
Wish I knew that much about a motor on my 12 valve I just got. Idk anything but I’m tryin to learn about my first diesel. All these numbers your sayin I ain’t got a clueeeee! Wish you were close by so I could show ya mine
Just take time and finding someone that actually has some experience a lot of people think they know what they’re doing but give alot of misinformation
I'd like to see the bottom of the column also.once u pull it back 2 inches etc the covers won't work and it looks like crap.thats the way it is on mine anyway
It’s just plastic stop inside a shock in the column you should be able to see it with the plastics off. And yes the plastic will still go on with some longer bolts. Definitely worth having the gap if you sit in the truck with the seat all the way back
I would highly recommend Hamilton 165# springs. I was doing a nice 3rd gear lockup burnout with the pedal to the floor when i look down at the tach and the needle had almost made a full revolution. The springs are rated for 4500 rpm but based on how far past 4000 it was I figure it was turning about 5000. Blasted the hell out of my stock head gasket 😂 but we are fire ringed and back at it again
I’m about to maybe sell my stock 24v and buy a 1st gen 12v and want somthing quick what y’all think would be good for a fun truck about 400hp maybe 500hp
This is the third time I have seen the same issue with power driven valve retainers . I’d recommend trashing the entire set . Get some from haisley machine
The FSS is what always went out on mine id have to buy one damn near monthly and the larts store i got it from was like $80 and i got tired of spending it so i took one apart and cleaned the contact poonts and properly sealed the case and never had an issue its the solenoid to the right on the far upper firewall
That’s sucks ! I got my 12 valve built. I have about $15,000 into it and on my third NV 4500 I need a different transmission one that will take the power.
Dont know much about these older inline 6ers but sounds like you overrevved it and didnt let shit break in after the build or perhaps those components were never designed to see over 40 lb s and 3-3.5k rpm
I literally had the exact same thing happen. Pretty sure it’s an over rev issue simply cause power driven 60lb spring are only good for 45lbs of boost an 3500 rpm. I would recommend running Pdd street conical springs
I drove mine for awhile after I put those exact springs an retainers on from pdd an it ran beautifully. Went to do a burnout an buried the needle at 4k an 55 lbs of boost an it dropped a valve just like tht
@@jodypenney404 5x.16 power driven diesel injectors and 7mm dv plan on down sizing injectors and going with a better quality set not happy with pdd set
@@farmboydiesel4569Curious, I have a 97 with 5x.014 from CPP and was looking for suggestions and looking at DDP now... I'm running a 185 pump that Farrell Diesel calibrated and flowed... Stick DVS but looking to add some... Originally a 62/475 II and now running a Tater Built 63/67-.70 NV4500... SB 3250... 3.55 gears...
What’s your timing set at? It seems in the 20s. I had mine at 21* with my compounds but didn’t like how high the rpm was before they fully spooled. I dropped it down a couple degrees and it had a better bottom end spool but was only slightly slower top end.
@@farmboydiesel4569 hell ya that'll work! I got a buddy making 1500hp with a 464 and a 480. No sure on what size injectors. But it's a ripper! I think imma kinda do ur set up on my 98. How are ur egts when pulling and how well does it pull a trailer
@@farmboydiesel4569 Thanks for that information. I am watching your videos. Very interested in what you do to strengthen the NV4500 and then how it holds up to the compounds. I have a S475 I plan to put over my HX35. Also have a stock NV4500. Looking forward to more of your videos. Like to see all the fine details if you have the time.
