A lone man on the internet sets off to create objective video game tier lists, VGM study music and most importantly, swears to beat EVERY PlayStation 2 RPG on the planet.
I love that you are doing this. This honestly helps me fogure out what rpgs I have left to obtain. Also we are doing the same thing but going about it totally different ways and thas really cool to me
I used Kalas and Gibari then plopped in Mizuti with all healing stuff, in retrospect I probably should've done Kalas and Xelha with Gibari healing cause iirc he has the most health
Hey, good video! As you go along playing all these rpgs I wanted to say... be carefull when you get to play the Ar tonelico series. Both games on the PS2 give you a fake ending screen and credit rolls at one point (technically it's an 'ending' but you dont get to experience the final chapters and nothing is concluded in a satisfying manner). I'm worried if your not careful you could end up rating the games after the fake endings and not experience the whole final chapter in those games. Also you forgot to link your spreadsheet in the description. Good luck on the journey!
Oh crud, thanks for both heads up, I’ll link that now. Also, I’ll make sure to do a little research on Ar Tonelico before starting to make sure I avoid that.
@@locloudanerpg Things like those of ar tonelico are somewhat common in jrpgs in general with 'true endings' usually being the actual satisfying conclusions but it's pretty funny in ar tonelico where all 3 games fake you out and you don't see a whole chapter if you don't do things right haha. It's not particularly annoying to do it right either but the fact that bad endings exists can be worrying watching these sorts of reviews. Sorry if I'm being noisy!
@@dooroflight4156 no not at all. This is a collaborative effort. All though the rating is subjective, I’d like people to use it when deciding what titles to play.
If you're going to end up using half points on your scoring system you should use a 1-5 scale instead of a 0-2 scale. It would be cleaner looking, and you'd have the same number of options for scoring. The final score would just be out of 25 instead of 10.
Awesome video. I played a lot of rpg's during the ps2 era (Thanks Blockbuster), but when I heard 160 total, wow. I'd be surprised if I hit 1/3 of that. Grandia 3 for instance is one I never played but has a top 3 mechanic for me. Blood/spousal relatives as actual companions/teammates/party members. Children of Morta and modern GoW are the only two I can think of that actually heavily lean into this dynamic which is crazy to me as it has always felt FAR more compelling than the bog standard "Strangers before the game started" or "Childhood friends going on an adventure." There is no way I'm fighting anime gods in a JRPG because the girl that sorta flirts with me or my bro asked me to go on an adventure with them. I'd do it for family in a heartbeat though.
We completely disagree on Degital devil saga- it is at least an 8. The atmosphere, the story, the battle mechanics (expected from SMT) and the characters are all great. The graphics not too shabby for a ps2 title. If you play SMT2, both would be a 9. Nevertheless, cool concept with rating all the ps2 games- I will be following.
Why fo2 over 1? Navarro runs are hell to do if you arent very experienced in the game, in FO1 you can get the alien blaster after getting out of the first cave and the games over
My affinity will always be with saw spear. You only get one first playthrough, and I found it pretty early then used it the whole game. There's a lot of great weapons but it's definitely one of the ones that just screams Bloodborne.
Fallout is balanced with the difficulty of its quests taken in consideration, if u have this previous knowledge is one thing, but if u dont its ok cuz u have to search a lot to figure it out.
I think it should be mentioned that party member skills are NOT the only skills they can get. You can use skill cards to give all party members new skills on their primary persona. So you can give All-Guard to Aigis and argubly make her a better tank than Kanji because Runic Shield is exclusive to subs and has a low chance to null row. While Aegis Shield on awakening has a high chance to self. But the downside of self doesn't matter when you can get All-Guard on Aigis. Aigis also has a better stat total than Kanji, only losing in Strength by 5 points and HP by about 80. Also FEMC can turn into a giant Fire-Link nuke with all the Fire and Link Boosters + Challenger Arts + First Star and then the item that switches her high magic stat for Strength since the links are HP-based. TDLR: Party member skills in Q2 on their primary persona can be changed and therefore, the only things that matter on a party member are stats, exclusive skills, and affinity.
Literally any Trails of Cold Steel game can be broken via Evasion tank Fie, physical nuke Laura, magical nuke Emma, eternal Delay Rean, a plentiful choice of CP batteries, a plethora of orders and busted S-Craft spam strategies - not every method works in every game, but every single one of them has a combination of several of them.
which i think explains why tier lists for q2 to be not known or talked about, after going through the cast P3MC is actually kind of mediocre and somehow mitsuru is better then him. the rest are pretty solid with what they do especially FEMC and Joker
