WOW! I'm 51 and remember a Zastava Yugo dealership opening up where I lived (Canvey Island - Essex) but....they soon had a terrible name for reliability etc thats all I remember. this car is cute but....
Wow! What a machine. I had one (with a roof in the 90's) whilst I was a student. It was a daily and even made it across Europe. It was basic, but actually reliable and fun to drive. Mine was a 55 in blue. The front end had Fiat Uno mechanicals. The rear had a transverse leaf spring.....just like a Herald.
Goodness me - makes mine look as common as muck🤣FOTU 2025 contender surely? Although being the only one and never registered, I suppose it will fall down on the 'memories' side of FOTU because no-one will have any memories of a convertible Yugo 🙂
What one have you got? I had a normal hatchback one (badged as Tempo) a few years ago. It was in lovely condition, low mileage and kept garaged. Stupidly I sold it and a recent picture on line shows it is now used as a workhorse and has deteriorated. Hope this unique gem of a cabriolet finds a good home.
@@graham104e I don't own a Yugo! Sorry if my post wasn't very clear - I was referring to my channel photo which shows my incredibly rare Nissan Sunny B12 estate - about 3 left in existence (with 2 sort of not quite on the road at the moment) making mine (possibly) the only 1 at the mo.
In the early 90s I had an electric blue Capri with original chrome bumber. I used to get my dad who had a red 2 dr Mk 2 Ford Escort to start the car in the winter because of the chalk✌🏼❤️
Amazing the internal trim parts, door handle etc were not easy to source as these cars were so common back in the day ..A really gorgeous example of an 80's mass appeal car!
I love these cars. The German press wrote about them back in the days „…they are perfect cars. So much they are almost a bit dull…“. Don’t agree with the dull bit. Especially as a manual.
These were everywhere back in the day….except this variant wasn’t. The saloon was less popular than the hatchback and the automatic transmission version also very rare. This is the first one I’ve ever seen of that generation. My folks had a mk1 Astra in same colour…I believe it’s called China blue. These are all leaded engines, so be aware of that. The enemy of all these Vauxhall’s is rust, that under bumper metal scoop is very prone to stone chips which then turns to rust. Same on a mk1 Astra. I’m not sure if that automatic is a 4speed or a 3.
Beautiful pre-facelift example and your asking price is an accurate reflection of condition and mileage. That colour is certainly rare. You should hold on to it....
Was that car for sale in Weston-super-Mare quite a few years ago? Seen one exactly the same similar sort of mileage long time ago hurts to remember I used to deliver tires to the garage. It was for sale at
Nice car, desirable….not really, collectible…..as an oddity and nostalgia. At least the price isn’t rediculous, but I’d not want it so it’s irrelevant. Good luck with the sale as someone will.
I had a B reg 1.6LD diesel as a taxi in late 80's was very reliable only thing I didn't like was the heavy steering so later traded for a Carlton diesel 2300 which had power steering
