I'm glad you guys have started making games like this again, but will we ever get a game or series like the Otherworld games? I play them all almost every month but still wish there was a way for the fourth to come out. The fae and mystical setting was through the roof and to top it off they all had the most beautiful music. Perhaps eventually the fairy theme may come around again but please do it justice once again, Spring of Shadows was the first ever hidden object game I played and I still get inspired from it. Much love, - an Otherworld admirer.
I absolutely love this series of games since I am housebound and they give me a chance to travel and have fun. Thank you so much! (Can't wait to get #4 and travel to new places!)
I STRONGLY dissagree with not using MS suite of products. They are much more polished. Especially Excel on 365 vs Google freaking sheets. Google sheets suck big time. The UI. The usability. The speed. The UX. Its all just horrible to me and I want to tear off my face every time I'm forced to use it in work.
I'm a huge fan of RNG in games (done interestingly, of course). I suspect I'm rather extreme in this regard. I love to have some beers and play the most chaotic RNG games where I might do the analogical equivalent of rolling snake eyes twice in a row (1/1296 chance) and my character trips and impales himself with his own weapon. I find it hilarious even when I'm that unlucky and still find it entertaining to keep playing since replaying the game tends to be a very unique experience each time with that level of sheer RNG chaos (there isn't a tedious sense of repetition each time I have to try again due to bad luck). All I need is for the game to reward my own player skill with enough of a "house edge" that I will eventually win due to that skill edge, however small, and that each repeated attempt is very amusing in its own right. One very economical design mechanic that I appreciate sometimes in tabletop games is re-rolls. If the player gets a limited number of re-rolls they can use, it can put more emphasis on the player's skill edge and also make for some very interesting decisions. For example, when we get a bad roll that isn't the end of the world, there might be an interesting and thoughtful decision involved on the player's part as to whether we should accept that undesirable outcome and live with those consequences to save our re-roll for future use or use that precious re-roll now.
Thanks Chris for sharing your experience here. I never worked from home until the last few weeks due to Corona. I kinda start liking WFH and your series gave me a lot of things to think about. Thanks.
Do you do anything to encourage growth and collaboration? Not to say there isn't collaboration, but how does your staff keep learning from one another when their interaction is more limited?
Found your channel through the reddit ask me anything thread. Very great points made in the video! Although it might be a bit one sided (but it says 5 reasons for ditching and not staying at the office. haha) - I have to agree with the mentioned points for the most part though. Looking forward to other videos too :)
Great tips, thank you for sharing, the 3 letter code name for new projects is a pretty smart way to organize files and don't worry about future changes in the actual name of the project, I have one question, why use Dropbox instead of Google Drive if you are already paying for G Suite?
I will be totally honest here. I got an introvert in my house that doesn't like me having friends over. I need an office as an excuse so I can throw crazy birthday parties and have a big Norwegian dude kick down my toilet door.
