I dream of a world where we all understand the "Whys" and "Hows" of hair and beauty. If we can understand the fabric we are working with then we can achieve greater heights. (Pun intended)

Getting more volume in the immediate time frame may be tough but in just a couple weeks you could begin to see more volume in the new growth. Something that may help a little is blow drying in larger sections, so there is less tension at the roots (if you blowdry, of course)
My wife uses manual clippers on me. No hair pulling. She cuts the transition doing scissors over comb. We just bought "madeshow" manual clippers. Even they are from China, they are really high quality!
Appreciate your efforts to test this. I would like to know if you are a professional hair colorist or cosmetologist? This is a very tricky world. It is true we use chemicals, but the products in practice can react differently in various situations. I use this kind of products having amazing results, at least the ones that Im looking for. Enzymes and olaplex tone down the process, thats why they need to elevate the peroxide concentration to balance the mix with the cream or liquid color.
I am a cosmetologist, licensed in multiple states. Also have been an educator for over 10 years with advanced certifications in color. Many people believe that enzyme developers don't contain peroxide at all. That is mostly what I'm addressing in this video. To your point that enzymes slow down the lightening process, this is just false. Lightener is the catalyst that allows the developer to lighten the hair. 60 volume is 60 volume whether it has enzymes or not.
@@CosmoDad thank you. Glad to know u r plenty of titles, licenses and certifications. I use trionics knowing is a developer for a oxidative hair color, thus it should have peroxide. I understand this product, and works perfect on the cases I use it for. leaves the hair in much better conditions than a regular developer.
@victorrios4083 just curious, what color line(s) do you use? And what results do you achieve with enzyme developer that you can't with traditional developer?
@@CosmoDad I use whatever brand is available, when it is new for me I test it before use it on my clients hair. This developer brand has different options, from very low peroxide concentration to a high one. Also one for grey hair. It depends of my client’s hair conditions. Usually very porous, in that case I use the lowest concentration for the tips and holds better the color with better texture
@@CosmoDad by the way I’ve been in the industry for more than 25 years using different hats. From manufacturing to the last. Working every day with customers, and still
@@CosmoDad I didn't know about using developer after to test if all the dye is out. That might explain why mine darkened when I applied peroxide based lightener spray with heat, immediately after using a molecular reducer (Vitamin C). I am now about to use my favourite dye remover, Colour B4, a British product. I waited for it in the mail all the way from the UK, to Canada. When I used it in the past it got even the orange dye molecules out of my hair, and it is surfactant based, no sulfur.
@@CosmoDad I also just learned, from the Colour B4 box, that hair products with silicone in them, where heat has been used, can prevent the product from removing dye, because silicone is plastic, that can melt into the cortex of your hair! Anything that ends in "-icone", such as dimethicone, and amodimethicone and phenyl trimethicone. I use at least two products that contain these. I used extra heat on the top of my head recently, trying to get the peroxide to lighten my hair, and it turned copper and pink!! I bet if I ever melted plastic into my hair, that time I surely did. But I'm gonna get it squeaky clean, no conditioner. with chelating shampoo before I use the dye remover. The copper colour in my hair might also be actual copper metal deposits from hard water.
From my limited understanding, it is really a re-marketing of keratin treatment. Your hair should revert in time and anything effective in wearing out a keratin treatment should be effective on "Hair Botox"
I haven't used Bio Ionic but have heard positive experiences with that brand. If you feel like it's effective, I would say stick with it. I have been thinking about trying their new one
Interesting how many "Americanisms" are actually archaic British terms preserved & popularised in the USA. Analogous to Canadian French being 17th century French trapped in amber?
I had naturally curly hair, more specifically 3a curls. I decided to get a ‘Botox treatment’ as they called it at the salon in January of this year. I was later told that it’s a variation of keratin. My hair is poker straight and also very brittle. I’m not sure if what I got is really keratin or something else but I’ve heard that Olaplex no. 3 helps to reverse the effects of keratin. Is that true? Do you have any suggestions on how I can get my curls back without having to regrow my hair? Thank you in advance!
Can we do this same technique but with cutting a straight line across instead of a diagonal line as i want the bangs to be a bit longer and less steep? Or does it need to be cut diagonal always? Ive seen other tutorials where you brush the opposite side of where youll wear it, cut but straight across and /or an angle, please respond!! Love your videos
Thanks for watching. I might make a video about this. You can change your finger angle but that can sometimes make it difficult to visualize the results. My preferred method is to always keep your fingers perpendicular to the hair but don't over direct the section as much. The further you pull your section across the face, the steeper the angle will become. Pulling it now as far will make the angle less steep. Hope this helps

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I think I will make a video this week. It's hard to say exactly how one would go about fixing yours without seeing it but it may look very similar to the way I went about this one. Stay tuned!
@@CosmoDad very welcome I have a question I have been bleaching and trimming my hair since covid I use blonde me bleach with 20 developer I have. A question- I have dark brown roots if I am doing one part bleach and 2 parts developer And also adding ion booster step on Should I add more developer Ratio of 1 -2.5?
Below is what I got from the proouct Hair Color: Mix ½ a vial (1/8 oz or 3.75 ml) into 4 oz of color, no developer adjustments are necessary. Lightener: Mix 1 vial ( ¼ oz or 7.5 ml) into 2 oz of bleach mixture. Due to the intense conditioning actives, increase the level of developer 1 full volume for best results.
Hello. I have a hair question. I believe it's true that hairs, from whatever part of the body, gently taper to a point at the tip. When you cut them, the tip is then blunted, sometimes jaggedly, which causes itching. My question is, how long after cutting does it take for the tip to return to its gently tapered condition, as I believe it will do though simple friction? I'm not asking because I'm concerned about itching, I'm simply interested in the time frame for the hair, under a microscope, to return to its "natural" state at the tip. Thank you for the channel, it's informative.
I'm not sure if hair ever truly tapers again. It might be something interesting to investigate in the future. On the topic of itching, I believe that it is mostly relieved when the hair grows past the skin enough that the disrupted cuticle no longer affects the skin so much. Thanks for watching!
It's very likely that, if your hair lost a significant amount of curl, and none has reverted in that time period, that you received something more permanent that was just labeled as a keratin treatment. It could also be a case where too much heat was used during the application. I'm sorry this happened to you. It is likely that you will need to grow it out and that the affected hair will never be the same ☹️
I just found your channel and would love some advice. I’m no professional but am looking for a new dryer. I was looking a Dyson SuperSonics and Dyson mural but I came across the iq3. Would love to know your thoughts because you had a chart comparing a lot of them. Just wanted to get your professional opinion
My favorite is still the CHI Lava Pro. But my professional advice is that all the ones you mentioned are great dryers. One advantage of the IQ and the CHI is that they are easily holdable by the barrel. If that's your preference, it is not easily done with Dyson. The Dyson does have many attachments that the others don't. It can be a tough call. Good luck!
There should be no license required to do any of these things. A person could "advertise" if they do actually have a certain "education" or not, but it most definitely should NOT be required. The Government is far to involved in our lives.
The majority of licensing has less to do with beauty skills and more to do with public safety. Salons have the potential to be disease vectors and learning how to prevent their spread takes more than many unlicenced people realize.
@@CosmoDad I'm aware. Im an esthetician, but I don't practice. I think people should advertise if they are licensed (& many people may prefer to use educated/licensed professionals), however, I do not think that any license should be required to perform any of the things pertaining to the topic of this video. Anyone should be able to do these things for profit with or without a "license" to do so. Likewise, customers can make their own decisions about who they see fit to preform these things on them. The "government" doesn't need to make these decisions for anyone. That's my opinion, of course, & I respect anyone's right to have an opinion that differs from my own. However, my opinion won't change on this matter & I'd like to see the government "butt out" so to speak.
I have layers on layers on layers black box dye on my hair I dyed it today loreal paris twilight bold a blackish blue color the results ended up with my roots brownish blonde and the rest remained black ...I don't understand..I used dark hair dye why my hair turn so light???? Please let me know why this happened...if you know the answer.....thank you have a great night 😊
I wonder if the color was labeled as a gray coverage color. They often use a higher peroxide and can cause warmth. Also, rinsing the color before it's fully oxidized could cause this. It's hard to tell without really seeing it
Can you please suggest that previously i have curly but now i have straight but infront face like forehead again they have turned curly now I have curly up i want to change my hair either back to my curly or straight can you please help me can i get my natural curly hair back
Now I donot add it to the perm solution I do perm solution just as it is then neutralizer and without washing out the neutralizer put the olaplex right on top of that
I have hot roots, I colored them darker but it won't work. Still have hot roots and they look even more brassier, Used a 10 developer and a 6a color. Any advice?
Thank you so much for the video I would really appreciate if you could help, I'm gonna neutralize my blue hair by using orange, BUT, when it starts to fade what colour will it be? Orange? Blonde? Or back to minty blue? Since colours dont actually "cancel" each other out?
