Bernstein was most regaled as a conductor--the Classical, Romantic, late Romantic symphonies.. You are very shortsighted to talk only about West Side Story which was originally STAGED for live musical theater not for the glossy and miss-cast big screen version.
@josephmarcello7481
@josephmarcello7481 7 месяцев назад
You poor folks! No one ever said this was going to be what you call a biopic... And since Bernstein is almost universally known by anybody with a modicum of culture in their blood, he is a pervasively familiar figure to all to whom this film matters. Perhaps one day the film you expected will happen, but that will not be a masterpiece of a drama about two real human beings who loved each other beyond their personal boundaries, one of whom was the preeminent musical figure of the 20th century. As far as what you call aspect ratios go, this is pure futile intellectualism at. It's worst. Who cares? What aspect ratio of the film was in, this or some other. Why on earth would you want to distract yourself from the compelling narrative at hand to analyze? Just what might have been in the creator's mind when these choices were made? The fact is, if your attention had been as riveted upon the narrative as mine and almost everyone else's was, you would hardly have noticed the variations in aspect ratios as a crippling point over which the stumble so badly. Time to see the film again with beginner's mind, and not with the craggy, dusty, musty, expectation filled brain which now burdens you. Good luck.. from a lifelong symphonic composer... It is indeed a masterpiece, whether you have the breadth of vision to see it or not!

I hated this movie! I could not get any hooks in at all with the storyline. I turned it off part way through.

I disagree. I think most people who know Bernstein, know him mostly as a classical conductor. West Side Story only comes to mind for people who like musicals. Overall, his legend is his conducting. Just. my .02

I was so excited for this movie and to me it was the biggest let down of the year. Aside from good performances and some great battle sequences (which were too far and few between), I thought the way they told the story was a mess. I felt no attachments, I got confused as to what was happening, and at its 2hr 40min runtime it dragged a lot. Unfortunately wasn’t the movie for me. Great review guys. Keep making great content 👍

What would be helpful with this channel? Providing your scale. Two cylinders out of four? Five? Otherwise, I agree. This movie stunk. Formulaic and it dragged. And no, the hit man's pseudo-profound ruminations didn't overcome those deficits.

Me too. B+ because even though it was a bit repetitive after "Painkiller" and other Evil Pharma flicks, it held my interest and bore an unforgettable Laughter Gem: When Liza Drake (Emily Blunt) turned to her mom ("Jackie"), who unwittingly helped Liza crack the FBI's case against their mutual boss: "And thanks for being so slutty." At my age, it takes a lot to make me laugh because I've heard it all. THAT was an epic line, and is now in my Laughter Gem memory vault.

I didn't not like this movie was all seen from Emily pointed of view they had a small budget they film the movie in Serbia if Emily would have kept her mouth quiet about she her a rumor that Luke was in line to take quin mp post or if you would have told campbell she wanted to sleep on her answer and tell him in the morning but campbell told her she was better than rocky and Luke and he kept Luke on because a friend asked him too he thought Luke would quit but luke didn't and campbell could not because this person probably had some things big on campbell Emily was not a nice person she had no women friends at the office she was not a feminine she made Luke a promise but knew she could not kept she almost rape Luke when she told him they need to have sex and Luke said no but Emily said she was not taking no for the answer but luck could not have a erect but this was the last time they try to have sex until the sex in the bathroom at their party they did tell each other they love each other Emily should had waited until Luke went to sleep because some time men get a erect in their sleep and then campbell call Luke told her not to take that call but she did because she told campbell she was going to short the stock like Luke said they could short the other company but Emily thought it was inside traveling so Emily won and got the big deal 2millon dollars bonus but she didnt not tale Luke and before that campbell gave emily his revelation at some fancy restaurant but luke said he had to much work to do that night Emily had no empathy for anyone if you ask me she could have told Luke we can go home and finish your project and then we can go somewhere else for dinner but no we see Emily when to dinner by her self whe she got home she got some sauce on her face and she told Luke he could lick it off and they could make love but luke said no he was going back to sleep and I would like to know why Emily was always going to campbell house at 2oclock in the morning hr said that was wrong you know some men are insecure about the size of their penis or if they were good lover maybe Emily was giving campbell a hand job or blowjob the never had Emily tell Luke what they were talking about and the last thing that proves Emily was a heartless person to Luke at time was when the guys said they wanted to go out to a bar to celebrate their big deal one of guy said pumps which was a strip bar Emily said it loud enough so Luke could hear her become one of the boys she didn't asked if Luke or her other analysts could or like to come so what person take a 575.000 check to a bar and when rocky told the hockey player having sex with his sister and then saying he drop out school and killed himself Emily said she was bore and said let get some ass so she call the strippers over to her table i won't bite she took some pills have 7or 8 drink and got a laptop dance she was one of the boys when she got home she was too drunk to open the door so Luke had to let her in when she try to tell him about the hockey player Luke said he was going back to sleep Emily said he didn't hear the punch line he was having sex with his sister but she left out the part that he may have killed himself Luke told Emily that she was drunk and Emily told Luke he had no scene of humor and for Jesus crist Emily saw that Luke penis was still the see told Luke she would help his career but she knew she couldn't because campbell wanted him to quit but still she said I will help your career if you eat my pussy Luke said your drunk and he also that bonus check Emily did call Luke pathetic that was like her telling him he was worthless Luke told Emily she was not one of boy they treat like the hooker thet hung around with if I was Luke I would have left Emily that night went to my brother house quit working for her and campbell Emily was power hungry their love affair was over because she didn't tell Luke the truth that night she met campbell i then have gotten a new firm and then I would have gone to hr reported Emily for her you fuck eat my pussy and I would have gone in campbell office and knocked the shit out of him told paul my father is a gardener who takes care of all the NFL and baseball teams he is one the richest man in newyork like I said there were too many holes in this said story if you can you should watch showtime billions and HBO industry there were many strong and powerful women of all color this sad movie had no strong women of color

@ronaldcox3137 9 месяцев назад
Emily was a bad woman she should have told Luke the truth from the beginning that campbell did not like him and was not going to give him the pm job if she told Luke the truth he could have left the firm but Emily was mean and a coward did Emily love her job more than she love Luke they never went out together or talked or watch TV she was the first way to make fun of Luke when he bought those self help books she said 3 thousand dollars i thought you were a numbers man and then she try to make Luke have sex with her when he didn't she only needed a good vibratory then she went out of her way to show Luke she didn't care what he thought she said she wanted to go to the strip club Emily said money isn't fun unless you spend it on people you love she spent no money on Luke and it's inside trading if every one knew about it the stock market is just a big casino for the rich Emily got luck with her deal got the big commission check but gave none to Luke or her other help didn't like paul when he said luke was no better than a grander paul and campbell were always together maybe Emily was having a threesome with them. When she came home from the strip club were she had taken so pills and got drunk she said luke was pathetic because he would sleep with her and you can't to torture someone to get a answer from them they should had broken up when she threw his notes way and when she said campbell said he was weak and only keep him on because of a favorite to a friend why to come Emily i hate this movie ever one were pigs the movie should had have four ending Emily killed Luke Luke goes to the police and tells 💔 them Emily try to kill him Emily tell Luke she still love him lets leave their tonics firm and all these people it was not a good firm 3years and she would be gone
@ronaldcox3137
@ronaldcox3137 9 месяцев назад
Emily was a heartless person she was the one started to call. Luke names first and lie and not tell him the truth first she was money hungry why did she not have one woman friend at the office why did you go over to campbell house everyday why did she not tell Luke about her 750.000 dollars bonus check and who would take that much money to to strip club she could have told all those other men that she was sick and when home she did not want to be that stupid bitch but she was Luke told her not to dress to sexy but she went to the store and bought that sexy dress that I think she thought it made it powerful but I think what made it heartless was when the guys were talking about the hockey team were the freshman had to have screwed one of the women with bags over their heads when one player found out it was his sister he had sex with and then he left the school and then he took his life she didn't asked if the story was true she could not think how his sister must have felt or how his parents must have felt if there son did kill himself and then she treated the other strippers like. The guy would throwing money at them and getting a Laplace when she got home drunk and couldn't open the door and when she try to tale Luke about the hockey player story and he told her he didn't want to hear the story she called him patience he try to tell her that those guy were not her friends they just looked at her like she was hooker. She had no right to torture him you cannot torture any one to get thr truth from them she like to campbell about their two year affair she started the fight in the bar she him over the head with that beer bottle if the bottle was real it should have cut his head and when they kissed in the bathroom she like it and she pulled her panties hoes down and lay across the sink so they could have butt sex she did tell him to softly to stop but she should have face him in front of sink she would have more control she didn't stop at the police there first thought was to go home then go to work and lie to campbell who was happy and see they had a new woman but she didn't speak to her she was thinking how could she get back at luke once she cut luke she thought she was in control she had broken the law it call assault and battery he could have called the police he never hit her she could had lie at restaurant she didn't have to tell Luke mother that he was no mp and that he work for him and she was going to fire when she got him on his knees and crying i thought see would start to cry too and tell Luke I still love don't go to sf we can get a new job at a new firm because campbell will fire me in a couple of months ithis write was bad she try to make it seem that men and women were bad if each other you should watch the saw billions on showtime many strong women of all color and the industry on HBO and baller with the rock women can be just as tonity as men watch date line and investigation Emily was not a perfect woman

This looked like a "meh" movie when it popped up on Apple TV's opening screen, but I gave it a shot. Then . . . oh, yeah, it captured me. It's one for the ages. Especially since it taps into that wry, sometimes dark, bitingly clever Irish wit that I grew up with (my Da's side of the family -- Boston Irish immigrants who came over in 1898). And I just love strong, smart (and smart-ass) women like the lead character (really? Bono's daughter? That's an interesting Easter Egg). Bonus: My own son was a quiet dude who flourished in many ways, not the least of which was after I bought him an electric guitar at age 14. So it was especially touching to see another "musical redemption" storyline played out. Finally, yes! We need MORE movies (like "Yesterday" and "Amadeus") where music is a starring character. Five out of five stars.

I really really hated every moment of it apart from the first 20mins. The acting of the lead female character was insufferably cringe and tedious to say the least. The pacing and cgi was terrible and the storyline didn’t make any sense whatsoever. Glaring plot holes didn’t help it either. I see and understand why nearly everyone hated this movie. It was utter garbage and an insult to a much beloved character and franchise ! 🙄🤦🏽‍♂️🤮

Love the review! I was surprised when I saw the trailer for this flick and saw it was Eva Longoria's Directorial debut! I haven't seen this flick, or even TRIED Flamin' Hot Cheetos... But, this flick looks fun! That's an interesting point, that it takes too long to get to the Flamin' Hot... I felt that way about 'The Machine'... If it takes too long to get to the whole point... What's the point? Lol...

Love the review, guys! I haven't seen either of the Extraction movies... They look kind of like a 2000s straight-to-DVD style film... I was a bit surprised Extraction got a sequel in the first place... I'd have thought that Chris Hemsworth might have gotten a higher budget action flick after all those Thor movies... Hmm... Love your line about the mindless video game action scenes! Haven't seen this flick, but how many Netflix action movies have that PS2 cut-scene feel to them? Lol...
