Welcome to my RU-vid channel. It is about goldsmithing, silversmithing, enamelling, stone and amber cutting, men’s jewellery and cookies... okay, maybe not so much cookies. Anyway, I have been doing this as a hobby for more than 20 years and make many tools and most of my wire, sheet, and findings myself. Most of my videos are project-based, but with excursions into why men’s jewellery looks the way it does, from my never-ending book project on men’s jewellery. And let’s not forget chains. Most of the time it is just me, but I like working with others and going on field trips.

There are four holes through the seal which the four rings pass through. They are not soldered together. No criticism of your however. It is of course made from gold.
Cool video, but I am left handed and would like you to do all the work left handed. I also have no tools, so please do the video using no tools while left handed. Ok, I actually lied about being left handed and having no tools, I am a compulsive liar. Well not really. I lied about being a compulsive liar. I am not a compulsive liar. Thanks again for the video!
@@neerajsoni2456 the rings I have seen with 8 rings follow the 4 ring pattern, but have double rings in stead of singles. Try it and let me know how it went. Thanks for watching!

Excellent video, this had everything I was looking for, thank you sir.
Hi! I love this! I have Alan's book so I'm trying this project. Can you please tell me where the seam is when it's complete? I tried to see where it was as you were bending, but couldn't decide where it was... Thanks in advance!
I was looking for a video showing how to make this exact ring! So thank you so much for sharing! Can I ask what gauge wire did you use for the silver ring? Kindly, Andrea
"What do you mean you don't have x, y & z?" 😂😂😂😂 By the time we came to the bench drill your face said everything. 😂😂😂😂 You have a good sense of humor! May Almighty God and his Holy Son bless you!
hi @Shaping Silver this project inspired me too make my own. I have a resin 3d printer and want to print the animal heads and than cast it in silver do you maybe have the 3d stl file for them it would really help me out here. great video!!!
That was awesome! I nearly stopped watching when you mentioned the lathe, but glad I stuck with it. Loved the dry humour and demonstration how to make stuff from anything. Nice one. Off to watch the ball vice one now.
@@ShapingSilver I like to create little forest scenes in mine. Like mosses, flowers, gemstones, shells, glitters, alcohol inks, and other natural elements. I'm going to make a sculptey handle, then cast into a custom silicone mold to add the other elements. I use uv resin to hold the fragile floatable objects in place before doing the main pour/ pours
@@ShapingSilver I have a bunch of beauties on I n s t a if you look up mixedmediaartgirl! Took me a while to get good, but that uv resin is my not so secret weapon!!! I hope you do end up making one, they're fun. Whatever you do, make sure all your inclusions are bone dry or they will eventually break down and become moldy or ugly. For the tiny mushrooms, I just grab some enoki mushrooms (long skinny white shroomies) from the supermarket and dry them out on a window screen with a fan. Happy crafting and thank you for putting some knowledge on us newbies!
Loved this video. Entertaining as well as informative. Luckily, I do have grinders and a drill press. No lathe, but a drill press turned sideways is a kind of lathe.
I have watched many videos on this subject, I was a machinist and understand tools but am trying to learn more in the jewelry business You are one of few that uses your tools correctly. Too many You Tube Vid's demonstrate how NOT to correctly use a tool. You can obviously teach techniques and proper tool use as demonstrated, and I learned today. Thank you so much
Thank you, I appreciate that. 😊 Yeah, I think, that a lot of people considered tools (and more tools) as a solution and don't take the time to practice. Thanks for watching!
I'm not sure what you are referring to. The white blob looks like the reflection of my camera lights... on the bench I travel so. Me tissue paper, that I use to draw water from the enamel.
I really appreciate your approach to not having certain tools. I have all you listed BUT so many makers do a disservice the craft by not showing or at lest telling people there are other ways. I do understand in some cases you have to have the tool but as they say, “there are more ways to skin a cat”. Never understood that. Who would want to skin a cat?
Thank you. 😊 Yeah, you can make a lot of stuff with basic tools. People often forget that. And it's fun to go old-school sometimes. Well, cats make nice mitts. 😉🤣
Yeah, it's not so fast to raise on wood as on metal, but more forgiving and inexpensive. Good qualities if you are just starting out. I have also seen people raise with wooden and plastic hammers on steel. Thanks for watching!
