Kurzweils look more and more like Korean crap. Good luck with that design team. Btw, my PC3 fell apart like a Lada in a few years of quietly sitting in my room while my Japanese keyboards trice its age are still fine.

This synth was selling for $1499 for a while. Now it's back up to $1999 everywhere Except Band H which has it at $1739. If they ever discount it to $1499 again, I would buy it but to pay $500 more for something that was $1499 six months ago is not for me. Especially in synths that are always going to be replaced by a new model.

Well changing velocity curve is possible on almost every keyboard. The PC4 has those 10 different presets. In my case, I'm not fully comfortable with any of them. There are keyboards that allows you to create your own velocity curve. Maybe you can on the pc editor, I'm looking for it. The other thing is that I'd to set a different curve for rhodes or piano or synth, because the interaction, the playing is specificic to each one o'them. Do you if is it possible to set for each program ?

The thing that scares me is that it dont have an internal power supply. Honestly, i had lightning strike my mp7se, today leaving it dead, it struck the power supply. But i feel it is less likely to happen on a kurzweil.

I ended up buying this PC4. I've been a keyboard player for 56 years, been performing as an acoustic solo pianist for 23 years, been sound designing on synths for 35 years, a recording engineer for 30 years. I spent months attempting to make a good sounding piano for recording on this PC4. I failed. Then I purchased a Yamaha DGX-670 six months ago, and within one hour had a beautiful solo piano, then designed a soft felt ambient piano in 30 minutes. Finest digital piano I have ever played, and the 3 pedal system that comes with it is out of this world accurate to an acoustic piano. Been playing digital pianos ever since the first one 36 years ago. Have owned dozens of digital pianos, all of them not fun to play or listen to compared to the masterpiece 9 foot concert grands I play on stage. But this DGX-670 is the first ever where I have all the expression of an acoustic and the sound is close enough where I can enjoy the sound of it also. (sound is relative to your listening devices, I use studio quality linear response headphones and active near field monitors) I am keeping the PC4 however as a modular synth for VAST/FM sound design and a controller for 4 other synths, and as a different keybed to practice on for piano. Acoustic piano performers must use whatever piano is on the stage, adaptation to 100s of different actions, bad tuning, bad voicing is a skill all solo pianists must acquire.

Just wanted to let people know that while the Kurzweil PC4 piano is good enough for a band, it is not a good choice for solo piano and especially recording solo piano. We now have a very inexpensive way to record near perfect simulation of an acoustic solo piano with the Yamaha DGX-670. @@heavenlysounds6362

Love this board, i own the kawai mp7se, the pianos are awesome but this one on this kurzweil sounds gorgeous, only thing i fear if i traded it in is that the kurzweil does not have midi through which i find myself using often to load additional sounds. I midi to myself to get additional banks, to find usable sounds, but i feel with this board i might find more usable sounds without using midi thru…. Its def been on my mind, i wonder how leading 1200 people with it through worship would be, my Kawai does excellent and is so intuitive and things are tight infront of me, i wonder how accessible things are on this board. By the way great playing. Would it be worth the tradeoff, im scared to get rid of my rh3 action
@heavenlysounds6362

Honestly if the feel of the piano keybed is important, then stick with the Kawai. If you just want the better piano tone, then it’s the Kurzweil - in my opinion.

I'm leaving a comment! I have been doing this all week. Even bought mics and returned before they even shipped lol. I purchased these mics and waiting for them to come. Hope I like them. Also, I recently used my cheap wireless Phynex mic (intended for host mic only) for a pastor with a BIG voice! I was terrified! He had an option to use my Shure M57. Of course it was corded and no one wanted to touch it! The host was to be the only person using the Phynex. She would hand the mic over to whoever stepped on the rise. They would then walk to the podium lol where the Shure mic was!!!! Are ya'll not understanding this???? I turned down the Shure mic... Then someone wants to use it and before I could turn it up they'd give me a dirty and/ or confusing look like is it not working. The host would then hand them her mic, ugh! So, then I have a little girl go up (I didn't know she would be speaking). I immediately said use the other mic... the host said out loud I told her she could use any mic she wanted. To myself, being the DJ and sound person, I said she really can't. I can't argue with you in front of all these ppl during the event so I allowed the little girl to try the podium with M57. Of course we couldn't hear her and I wasn't turning it up any louder. Yet again the host ended up handing her mic over smh. But you are too funny. Thx for the vid

Hello. Yes for sure! The 2700 is definitely an upgrade from the PC4. There is a drawback. The PC4 is very light and portable. The 2700 is not lightweight. The PC4 is also very capable for just about anything. The 2700 is the future but it’s built pretty heavy.

Seriously considering this keyboard for worship due to the nice pianos and incredible strings but I am concerned about the keybed. Is it too soft/flimsy for piano playing? My point is like having such a big keyboard mainly because of the weighted 88 keys, it should be at least a sensitive and dynamic key to be able to play those moments while people are talking. I am used to Roland´s heavy hammer key and I love them, reason why I am concerned. What is your feeling about it?
@heavenlysounds6362

Thanks for the PC4 videos. I'm a piano guy too (54 years performing), I'm also an apartment living guy who needs a digital piano with headphones for the love of my neighbors. For the entire history of the digital piano (Dpiano) they have been soooooooo disappointing compared to a good acoustic. Been looking for a replacement of my old YamhaP95, over 10 years old now. Your other video convinced me to buy a PC4, nice to get the review from a practiced pianist who appreciates excellent sound. It arrives in a week, we shall see how good this piano is, the only way to know is to play. I am also a synthesist sound designer and orchestrator, so I will be diving deep into the VAST engine and FM engine to create my own sounds. Hoping to bring the sounds of Heaven to the people of this earth. :) Hoping for the music that transforms the hard heart and liberate the soul. You know what I envision.

@heavenlysounds6362 Год назад
Hello. Definitely prefer the PC4 for the sounds. I love the piano’s, EP’s and Orchestral sounds. If I were more a synth guy….then I’d pick the MODX. The Yamaha may also have a little more ease of use because everyone is already familiar with them.
@pascalferriot6233
@pascalferriot6233 Год назад
@@heavenlysounds6362 thanks a lot for the answer :-) I am more a synth guy but I do not know the VAST approach, just heard from a friend that the synth sounds form a PC4 are amazing and probably better than modx, do You agree with that ? Why would you pick the Modx if you were a "synth guy" ?
@heavenlysounds6362
@heavenlysounds6362 Год назад
@@pascalferriot6233 Honestly because I’m not a synth guy I really don’t know for sure. I just go by certain brands are better at certain things. Nord, Kawai, and Kurzweil are best for realistic piano sounds and such. Korg, and Yamaha more for synths, pads etc. Although I know the PC4 has an actual FM synthesis engine. And if your into programming and vintage analog synths, then yes it is great for that too.

I got the PC4 SE.... No mention about the knocking sound especially on the release of the keys. Does the Hard 1 take away some of the THUMPING sound. That's what I do not like about the keybed.
@heavenlysounds6362
@heavenlysounds6362 Год назад
Hello. If you have a knocking sound on your board, changing to hard 1 will not fix that. That might be an issue with the keybed itself. Changing the velocity doesn’t actually change the feel of the keybed, only the response of the timbre to how you play. I believe Hard 1 is more balanced for piano.
@williamhively3295
@williamhively3295 Год назад
Nice voicings and chord extensions! 7:37 I agree we should be able to change the touch for different instruments. Hammond organ has no touch dynamics at all. A tracker pipe organ uses key pressure rather than velocity to change the attack and release of the pipe. A clavinet and a celesta have very different touch. I wonder if there is a parameter in the patch that might do that. Keep up the good work, God’s got this!
@Davidjzmusic
@Davidjzmusic Год назад
Hard 1 velocity is the best balance! I was using Lineal for one year and when a change it was like wowI´m playing another keyboard. It was on my Sp6 but they has medeli keybed too. Greetings !
@WildernessMusic_GentleSerene
Yes, if you ever played stelar pianos like the Steinway D 9 foot concert grand the interface between humanity and instrument becomes a connection you don't have to think about. Now we can simply play the emotion. That is what I search for at home in a digital piano.

@heavenlysounds6362

No. It does not change the weight. It changes the timbre of the keys. Basically the response of keys to how you play. The weight of the keys is the same, just the response of the keys are different to how you adjust it.
