We are a couple of Army veterans who met in 1996 and are now sailing the Caribbean on our trusty boat, SV Agua Azul. When we're not DIY-ing or cooking, we vlog our adventures on our 41ft Hunter 410. Tune in weekly for new escapades, unless life intervenes. My wife Danielle creates affordable recipes that will delight your taste buds, and I tackle DIY projects in paradise.
You guys got lucky. All the panels, canvas, main, head sail and fuel cans should have been down and stowed. Next time get EVERYTHING off your deck. Happy you guys are OK.
@sv.alannah next time, aren't going to be here. We are on the east side, so the winds weren't as bad. I didn't strap down the solar, and that is what caused the issues. Less canvas would always be better, and if this happens again, we will pull it down. Fuel cans are full, didn't want them inside the boat.
Guys!! We all made it!!! If you haven’t thrown away your solar panels yet, we SHATTERED one installing it and we sprayed like 2 cans of spray paint lacquer and it’s been fully functional for about a year now! I know you have new ones ordered but maybe you can install those somewhere else and draw even more solar? Anyway guys… glad you and Agua azul survived!!!
@camillemara7078 we threw them away. They were floppy in the middle and shedding glass on the deck. We remember y'all talking about that. I wish we could have salvaged even to give away. Glad we all made it through this! Should be back down there in a few weeks.
Well, let's sail down the archipelago of the cCarribean Sea and over to Guyana. We could sail off by mid November if y'all are ready and the boat is in good shape. I know it's a risky time of year but that's what stirs youth in our blood. So....
LOL! Would love to get out of here. We were supposed to last March, but boat projects got in the way. Now, if you see our latest short, we have a few more boat projects. Fair winds my friend.
@ChrisDoesWhat I could make a Proah for myself in a month and go down the rivers from.Tennessee to the open ocean. Keep it small and skinny. Sail fast and not out much if I lose it.
The eye went right over or is going over the top of us. The news we are watching is very unclear, and the apps we use for weather are showing different stories.
If you still have power go and prep food as we all did ahead of time. Buy eggs salad tuna anything and manage to make some meals out of it when the power goes off you will be safe for a few days. Don't rely on stores for food everyone will be minding their business.
It'll be alright as long as the boats up wind don't come loose. Let's make an expedition to the Carribean and the Guyanas after the storm. My boat was ruined in Hurricane Ian.
