Going in for.my replacement in just over a week so it's been great watching different peoples take on post op. I've noticed that not everyone has the same story so I guess you just have to find your own pace that you are comfortable with! idk the ID of the hose, but lets say its around half inch ... then there is just about 0.034 cuft in your hose. If it is moving at the flow rate from the bottle, then it would be out in about 6 or 12 seconds at 20 and 10 cuft per hour airflow rate, respectively. That doesnt account for the different densities of the atmosphere gasses in the hose vs the inert gas coming from the bottle, and how they might or might not mix, intermingle, push each other, and/or have differing resistances to the inside material of the hose.
@GaryForgingOn

@@GaryForgingOn np, please see my edit above, I corrected my math. I dont know anything about purging welding lines. Was just doing the math on the interior cuft volume of the hose, which is 25 ft X pi X (ID of the hose in feet divided by two)^2. Somebody can check my math. If all that air really is moving at the specified flow rates with no other considerations, then I suppose that is the theoretical purge time. But, importantly, it also ignores all the physics and perhaps chemistry involved. Either way, I like your approach. Only a tiny cost in gas to make sure we got the Argon flowing out. Thanks for sharing the video, enjoyed it.

At last I meet a person who is suffering with hip replacement. The first 10 days were very painful for me, it felt like they were tearing my leg apart, I am slim and have been swimming for many years and I thought I would have a good time like other experiences I have heard and seen. The nights were terrifying, I couldn't sleep, I don't know in which position I wouldn't feel pain, in spite of all this I did the walking with crutches and the exercises and it went well because on the eighth day I was able to lift my leg very high. But in this fourth week I feel very sore, I don't know if I exaggerated in the exercises or maybe I hurt myself with an unintentional movement because I felt better, I even bent down, I accidentally put myself on my knees on the bed, I have to mentalize that I am operated. Next week is my appointment with the surgeon because I have to have surgery on my other hip. I can walk with a crutch with pain in my coccyx, my leg hurts and I don't know what to do anymore, I hope this week I will feel better. Thanks for the video. Blesses Gary and for your followers xx

I hope and pray your doctor visit goes well. It sounds like you are doing great in your therapy and exercises. It will hurt and feel swollen for a while still. It’s as if I was literally speaking in this video! Just had my hip replacement a week ago today and EVERYTHING you’ve spoken on, I’m enduring. I too can’t stand pain meds and have no idea how anyone could possibly ever become addicted to them. They are absolutely horrific! I will never be able to wrap my head around why someone would ever want to feel that way; but I digress. Initially, I was taking them, breaking them in half, and even doing that I was still getting sick at my stomach, even taking the nausea medication they prescribed so after battling back-and-forth three or four days of that I had to finally just stop taking them altogether, so now, unfortunately I’m not one of those people that is going through a total hip replacement, and having the wonderful feeling that so many people claimed to have because I’m feeling every single ounce of pain. I know this video is four years old, but it was very helpful to hear that I’m not the only one who has had the same experience.
@GaryForgingOn
@GaryForgingOn 22 дня назад
I am glad the videos helped a little. The pain meds were weird. I had both my knees replaced after this, in 2022. One in March and the 2nd in Sept. The one in March I could only deal with the meds for 2 weeks. Then with the second I went 4 to 5 weeks on them. Not sure why I didn't get sick. But still didn't like them. My doctor told me to double up on over the counter. Tylenol with Ibuprofen or tylenol with aleve. And that helped a little. He said I could take those together because they were different families but to Not take ibuprofen with aleve. Just a thought. You probably should ask your doctor about. I hope and pray you continue to have a good recovery. I can tell you it is worth it. I know this video was from 2019 but now I don't even know I had a replacement, other than the scar. It works great. And with the new knees I can move normal again. Take care. Gary

The swelling will take several weeks to go down but it does get better. Everyone has different amounts of pain. I went a couple weeks on prescription pain meds and then went down to regular pain meds. It takes a while but if you are concerned you may want to call the doctor's office and ask them. I'm not sure how long it has been for you. I hope you are doing well with your recovery though.

It is hard to say for sure. Mine 2 knees were only done 6 months apart and they seemed a little different in their healing. But 7 years would be a lot of differences I would think. Probably different technology on the joints too. The doctor told me if I had mine done 10 or 15 years before I did that those joints would have only lasted me about 7 to 10 years with my weight and all but with these newer joints they would go 20 years. No telling where technology will have these things in 20 more years. Hope you are doing well with your recovery.

Can a standard soldering iron and solder be used to join pewter? Or is this special solder? I have some broken pewter cufflinks I want to repair
@GaryForgingOn
@GaryForgingOn Месяц назад
Sorry for the late reply. I just saw this message. This was regular solder so I would think a soldering iron would work as long as you can get the base metal hot enough for the solder to stick to it. But this was my one and only time fixing pewter so I am not an expert. I used solder that did not contain lead since it was a drinking flask. Even though the person I did this for said it would not be used. I didn't want lead in it. You may not want lead type solder either since it will be on cufflinks. Not that the cufflinks will be rubbing on your skin. But this flask was just filling a hole and not trying to hold something that might have pressure on it. But it would be worth a try. I hope that helps a little. I'd like to know if it works. Take care. Gary

any recommendations on what I can gift someone who is having this surgery soon? things that will help with healing weeks 1-3
@GaryForgingOn
@GaryForgingOn Месяц назад
That's a tough one. Most of what they will need are the meds and going to therapy. They will get or have a walker and later a cane. My guess would be a gift for them and whoever is taking care of them. Like my wife had to help me a lot and drive me to therapy and things like that so we would stop and pick up food a lot of times on the way home because it made it easier on her. I would think gift cards for food they can pick up or take them food. Something like would mean the world to help them. We have a group of ladies at our church that take food to people that are sick or had surgeries or a loss in the family. They brought us food and it was a huge relief and blessing. Anyway, I hope that helps a little. Coming from a guy that had a hip replaced and both knees replaced, a gift from someone meant a lot to me any my wife. So anything would be greatly appreciated.
