Love it when people spit the truth. I found the SP3's underwhelming as well for $4500 per lens. Even on the outside, they look like photography glass. Sadly, just another cash grab product. Also, there are some great Chinese products being made these days. These two lens sets will satisfy many a filmmaker. Love the vibe! Cheers!
hello thanks for the long looong review, I was wondering If I bought this lens in EF mount will I be able to adapt this on my Sony E mount using some EF to E mount adapter? I am confused about it might not work because the adapter will increase the distance between the lens and the sensor significantly? please I need some help to understand, also can you suggest a EF to E mount adapter that also has autofocus and can adapt this lens to E mount, thanks
TLDR: They offer different set of aesthetics. Longer winded version: What will a Mercedes do for you that a Honda will not? Not to be snarky. But, they both basically do the same thing, both cars get you from a to b, and both lenses focus light onto your sensor. It’s only the style and mechanics that differ. As I’ve said in a couple of these Blazar videos now, anamorphic lenses are “hack” that was used to get a larger, more panoramic image out of a frame of film. Its widespread use has made it become an aesthetic that people automatically associated with cinema. That aesthetic is a visual language with subtle cues, horizontal flares, vertically oval bokeh balls, lateral stretched focus breathing, and even blurring toward the edges and increase chromatic aberration. These properties are a side effect of having a rectangular lens element and the process of laterally squeezing and desqueezing the image. Initially they were considered optical flaws that were mostly tolerated as part of the overall spectacle that a widescreen image provided. All in all, anamorphic lenses are not the most optically correct manner for projecting an image onto the sensor, which is spherical lenses almost uniformly offer “cleaner” images. Now that we’re in an age where 4k is commonplace, and image quality is at an all ti e high, it easy to make a technically clean and crisp image. Most of us can do that with our phones. But, lenses like the Dulens APOs and Blazar Remus allow the addition of character and flavor to the image.
@@twelvetwelve1001 When I want "a larger, more panoramic image out of a frame of film." I shoot 35mm roll film in my 6x7cm medium format camera to obtain a 24x68mm panoramic image. How will an anamorphic lens help me?
Yeah, the GJ adapter doesn’t really change much regarding sharpness. It doesn’t increase the CA towards the edges which isn’t really visible in this footage, but it’s nothing to worry about.
Just wrapped up the tests. I don’t have a big fancy camera lab. But, I I did do some proper lens chart tests, as well as flares. It should be helpful. Just need a couple days to get it posted.
1st, plan how you want to build your rig. not just take any stuff & put them together & assumed it all work. obvious mistake- you didn't check & make sure whether that cage is for r5 or r5c. at the same time, you assumed that all cage are 'lens adaptor-friendly'.
Did you ever try the Kondor handle with the record button with this camera?..used a KONDOR BLUE 2.5mm to N3 Coiled Remote Trigger Shutter Cable Compatible with Canon but it didn’t work with R5C ..not sure if I have to change settings for it to work
You would rather the cables going two separate directions? Instead of the same direction so you can clean them up together? Glad they didn’t call you lol
The HDMI Clamp does work, you simple need to adjust the mounting point of your Arca plate and then it will line up. Also, their new dedicated R5C cage allows for drop in filters and is rock solid. Lens supports will also help with any cage rocking-that's part of the reason they exist. Any cage will have give back and forth when your stacking mounting points (especially when there are pads as they will have give). Just some thoughts.

My Screen wont display what my Komodo is seeing. But I can still control the camera, Through the “Camera control” on the monitor I followed all steps and factory rested everything. Idk what else to do, can you help?
My guess is you are using the cage for R5 with R5c. That probably is causing the issues with hdmi cable alignment. The wiggle though, I am not sure. Maybe the lens mount adapter attachment to the cage will give some more stability.

I need a bag for the dji fpv also. I was looking at this, but would you recommend the CS 400 instead? It was designed for the Phantom so I dunno if it’s overkill. But, seeing as you were struggling for somewhere to put the controller, maybe the cs400 is a better choice? I have the combo, 3 batteries, motion controller, NDs etc. Would you recommend either gettin this and trying to squash it all in, or getting the Cs400 and haven’t empty space left over? It’s annoying as I can’t try before I buy. I’ve found the 400 cheap on eBay. I just can’t tell if it’s guna be too big for my needs, or if it’ll be ideal. I could probably fit my Mavic air 2 + controller in the 400 also, so as Long as the lipo bag fits in with the batteries, I’ll have both drone for if I ever need to travel anywhere. Majority of time it’ll be in the back of the van, or on my back hiking locally. If anyone has used the 400 for the fpv, can you let me know what you all think. Cheers for a windy story Cornwall!
