Just had the surgery yesterday 9/25/2024. I have lost my sense of smell completely. But I can still taste food. I hope it comes back but day 1 of recovery 0 smell. I just a lot of pressure like a headache. And my throat was sore from the Endotrachael tube. But after 1 miserable night I have 0 pain. I bled till 3 AM in the morning. Bleeding sucks. 😂
just done it few days ago. The pain wasn't much tho, only hard thing was going through that first night. It's been fine so far and I am healing, hoping to have a free breathing after a week or 2
Also my surgeon used Local anesthesia so I was well awake during the surgery, that gave me another plus where I didn't have a tube down my throat to help me breathing so I didn't have sore throat.
1:38 DO NOT BLOW YOUR NOSE after the surgery. Never. Even after rinsing the nose with the nasal saline. I know holding yourself from blowing your nose when you can obviously feel the mucus blocking your nostrils, it can be a mental torture to not doing that but trust me blowing your nose will worsen the healing process. Another mistake I noticed from you is that you were wearing glasses right after the surgery when it’s recommended to not wear any glasses for at least a month after the surgery. You can wear a contact lenses for the time being. I just got the surgery 4 days ago and removed my nose packing today and it feels AMAZING. The first 3 days post op was hell but today it started to pay off. But my point for best and speedy recovery will be: BABY YOUR NOSE. Means be very gentle, no picking, no blowing, eat soft n non textured foods, AND EVEN TALK LESS and not moving your nose & mouth that much would help (so vlogging after the surgery not very recommended, do the voice over after you got better). I treated my nose as if it was an open wound and it work wonders.
i found on the internet as well that they say to not blow the nose. My doctor didn't tell me to avoid blowing the nose and when i asked the nurse she said that i could do it no problem. I did it today under the shower for the first time since the surgery three days ago and a bit of mucus came out, but i guess i won't do it no more. I will ask the doctor on friday (9 days after the operation instead of 4 because my nose was really bad he said so it needs more recovery) when i meet him to have my stents removed
@@amoyzegh i had my operation three days ago and while the nose is still puffy it's clearly a lot more aligned than before. mind that is different for everyone
Had mine done on August 23,24. Thank You for making this video. The 5 days following were the worst for me. I too was nervous waiting for my surgery alot going thru my mind. My first surgery I had following the death of my Mother. She was by my side thru every surgery I had prior. I was super emotional after because I kept waiting for her to come walking in recovery to check on me. 🥺😭
My nose septum is deviated towards the left side..Due to this my nose is bent/crooked left side and its shape is uneven..I just wanted to ask that will my nose get straightened after septoplasty? Or what changes can we notice in shape of the nose after this surgery?
Just had mine done now and paind is exactly as you said punched in the nose and not alot of blood in my case but it is quite runny but yea hopefully i can breath after this went in at about 11 something AM and got relized around 3p
hi guys I just had surgery to remove my polyps this morning. NO BLEEDING After surgery!!!! It was amazing!!!! No stints for me because I didn’t NEED the sepotplasty and honestly soooo grateful my doctor didn’t do it cus it seemed so painful. But guys NO PAIN AT ALL!!! My nose has some packing in it but can breathe through the packing better then I have in 2 years . Literally life changing. It’s bleeding a little but now but not even enough to fill the gauze still change it pretty often tho. The worst part was/is my THROAT!!! That hurt like hell. Suppppppppper scratchy but the popsicles and ice chips helped a lot and when i was able to take my medications it helped a lot. Pain is now 2/10. Hasn’t been a full day but praying this is the worst! Good luck to anyone having surgery to breathe better.
About creativity, it is required in med school also. I watched one of your videos about passing anatomy, your strategy was ok but you won't pass with it here in my school. I think you mostly speak for yourself and your school. Medicine is not difficult but time consuming, I picked some relevant stuff from your videos thou. Thank you
@@schmemmm when did they remove Splint? I had the surgery Tuesday they said come to doctor's office next Wednesday but I can't take it anymore so i will get them removed this Tuesday I heard 1 week is enough
@@sadra7791 I just saw my ENT two days ago. He said ahh you still have bandages up there and I said...splints too right? And he said no that's actually bandage, use nose oil to soften and it will come out over time. It felt so hard I thought there were splints. If you have extreme pain tell your ENT as there might be other issues going on maybe with a nerve. I think some of mine when I had it was actually referred jaw pain from having my mouth open all the time because I get that at the dentists as well and neck pain from using propped up pillows.
I just had a septoplasty with turbinoplasty , endoscopic sinus surgery with navigational bilateral and it took 4 hrs , about had a heart attack on the table , my heart rate spiked to 178 and they had to give me an injection to steady my rate, the Dr never even mentioned any of this to me , I found out through the nurse, they let me go home shortly after waking up and I was so out of it I don't remember the next 3 days , this is now day 6 , never would I recommend this surgery to anyone
I have constant blockage in my nose - some days are worse then others, but it's always there. It's led to me suffering from severe sleep apnea which has been going on for 7-8 years now. I did a sleep study a few years back (during the Covid period) and was told that I was only getting about 30% of the oxygen levels of a normal person. Up until now I have been putting up with it, but the past couple of years it's been getting to the point of dangerous. I fall asleep and have naps at my desk at work almost every day which people have noticed and is not a good look, and I've had three car accidents over the past couple of years because of microsleeps - two of them were very mild (I just scraped the car against a wall with minimal damage) but the third was a rear end collision that actually wrote off the other person's car. When I get a cold or flu and actually get a blocked nose, my breathing gets so restricted that I have (2 or 3 times) woken up in the middle of the night gasping for breath thinking I might not make it throught he next 30 seconds. Every single night I use nasal strips AND dab some vicks under my nostril which helps just enough for me to be able to get a passable sleep - that has been helping to the point where I'm not longer having the microsleeps and falling asleep at work has become less prominent (but still happens). I've tried nasal sprays and salt water rinses - occasionally they help a little bit, often they do little to nothing. I've told all of this to my doctors in the past and all they basically ignore my comments about my nose blockages and keep pushing me towards CPAP machines - which I already tried and struggled to breath with it on. I have kinda been holding off, but I think I'm at the point where I really need to see an doctor and push them to book me in for the surgery. I've reached a point where I am sincerely concerned for my career, my health and the people around me.
Agree with others that after one week, I still couldn't breath any better than prior to surgery. With that said, after one week, the blood clot removal via salt water irrigation slowed. I am hopeful that the final result will be like how I could breathe right after the stents were removed. Dr. said it could take up to 3 months! Ok. I am waiting. 🙂
Got mine done yesterday. Has already stopped bleeding and can breathe through one nostril. He described the pain perfectly, it’s just like being punched/hit in the nose. Super congested still on the left side and lots of gross discharge. Looking forward to a week from now when I can start rinsing it out with a Neti Pot.
Arham thank you for the great videos about your septoplasty! My question for you is, how long before it would be safe to fly after having that surgery? My job requires being on multiple flights per week, and having to lift heavy objects during that time. I really want to get a septoplasty so that I can breathe better through my nose but I can’t take a month off of work. Thanks!
From what I have read that's really down to your surgeon and what they recommend. For the first two weeks you really want to be resting...a week at very least. You will be tired because you can only mouth breath during the first week. Plane - up to your surgeon, pretty sure at least 2 weeks due to cabin pressure but you can ask all these questions of your ENT office before committing. With intense exercise they say anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks no intense workouts. I'm at week two and definitely wouldn't want to risk any intense exercise or risk of knocking my nose. I'm fairly paranoid about even my eye glasses sitting on my nose. But really it's up to your surgeon.
I got it about 3 weeks ago and the first week was like nothing different. Then the doc removed silicone stuff inside my nose (i think they were there to help the correct healing) and then i was able to breathe. Buuut doc say that it takes about 1 month to get the final result. Now for example i cannot breath completely ok but it's normal.
