I was going crazy to get the 1199 when it first came out. I am so glad I waited to get the 1299 instead. The power band is a huge jump. Open the clutch instant torque. I can be full stop up hill open clutch in 2nd gear and it pulls with zero throttle. Doesn't stop all the way to red line 11K. The Ducati 1299 to this day still most powerful production V-twin !!
I got a black.996.1 manual aero this past November…. Oz wheels , kw suspension . 79k miles, got it for 25k ….. I absolutely love it. Think I got a hell of a deal tbh.
Metzger 996s will be the ones. Any GT2,GT3 or Turbo will eventually go way up in value. The engines are already legendary and it’s just a matter of time and all the FriedEgg Headlight Haters will suddenly change there tune when they realize there is only ONE PORSCHE with Headlights that are not “Just Round” 😎
just got my 1199 tricolor, almost 2 weeks back, despite an leaky clutch cover(will be fixed this weekend) its just brutal. i just cant ride it without earplugs, i like my ears too much. where ever i ride, people are staring and cheering, asking me to rev it or doing thumbs ups as for the "not the smartest move" such powerful bikes simply make it sooooo sooooo tempting to make alot of "not so smart" moves
Maybe it is the video angle but it looks your driving position is not the best. I think your arms relative to the steering wheel is very good, the distance from shoulders to steering wheel is spot on. However, your shoulders are way off from the seat and that you are very upright - like Rene Arnoux used to sit in F1. The point is that do you get enough side support to your upper body and can you sit relaxed without tensioning your torso muscles. It could be down to the seat back form also. The Porsche seats are quite a compromise between different size of bodies and you might need a bit more straight seat back instead of it being convex for the lumbar support. Like I said it maybe the video angle but if you have a change to check your driving position with a good race/advanced driving instructor use the opportunity. it can make your driving better - or at least if can make your ability to enjoy driving better. With a N/A-engine the max torque is always directly relative to the engine capacity. So if you go from 3.6 to 4.0 you will get about 10% more torque. And power (W) is simply revs (rads/s) times torque (Nm). At which revs your peak torque and power come is very down to cam timing and tube lengths. And then the ECU-tuning is usually just making the mixture a tad richer. The max power usually comes at lambda 0.83-0.85 which is definitely on the rich and more emissions side. Anyway, 10% gain is something that you will feel. I would not call it night and day but you can definitely feel it. 5% is barely recognizable. Very often the sportier sound makes you believe you have more power but when start using stopwatch you may get a bit disappointed. But then, it is the sensation that counts. Your car is a beauty.
Thanks for sharing, literally hoping my 996.1 craps out just so I have a reason for the rebuild!!! Unfortunately I got one of those 996's that just won't die:( How long did it take them to turn it around?
Are you me? I am at 115k (owned since 74k) and is my daily! I told my wife this! I will do a rebuild - started a budget for when I hit 200k miles. I really want my interior, seats and interior refreshed!
Great minds think alike! My leather was actually in pretty good shape but had a guy rejuvenate anyway, best few hundred bucks I could've spent. Did the PCCM stereo upgrade, pricey, may have been better off with a nice after market unit.... One piece at a time!!!
@@richardclegg5853 Totally agree! I got fake sheep's to cover the worn leather front seats. Will address at some point. I put a new top on (OEM manufacturer from Germany under their brand) that really refreshed the exterior. I have the GT3 rims- unsure to: just do a refresh or refresh and powder coat? Thoughts? Back seats and carpet look new, plastic bits and center need a repaint or something. Dash and clusters, look new. Plug in Bluetooth changed my life!
Hey there, greetings. I've got a 959 as well as an 1199. Reaching out because I am super interested in the sweater you are wearing. I know it's been like a year since you posted this but can you tell me about the sweater and where I can buy it?? Thank you, brother.
Hicham Arazi, what a shame about wasted talent. His game was colorful and spectacular, a bit like Marcelo Ríos' style. They were raised on clay courts, but their game was of such quality that they adapted to any surface. Another player who could be included in this group would be Henri Leconte. Coincidence: all three were left-handed. Consistency lack killed all three of them. And technical talent, especially if it is innate and natural in the tennis player, is not usually accompanied by regularity and this factor in tennis is very important.
Nice bike man. I’m sure these handle better but man visually the spoked wheels look so much better on this retro styles machine. But for what you wanted I get it. Btw, what is that off throttle sound that sounds like a plane flying by? 😮
Sound is a bit off, I did a few runs, got a lot of wind noise and I did a few tries at denoising. I do have a K&N air filter which I forgot to mention.
