I ABSOLUTELY loved this show! Thank You! "Forbidden" to me, is a whole new record, a whole new experience, many songs I either didn't like or thought were "OK" earlier, I love now. Love! Its now my third fav of teh Martin records behind Eternal Idol and Headless Cross, above Cross Purposes and Tyr. I think the sound and richness of the mix TRULY shines, and who knew there was such a diamond in that rough.

The only LP that I have, from this foursome, is Upon This Rock. I love this period of Joe Farrell. For anyone dipping in to his catalogue for the first time, I'd recommend Moon Gems also - with Herbie, Stanley Clarke and Jack deJohnette.

Glad that you put Third first. It's my favorite album. I saw them live at this time. Really fantastic live band. The Deluxe edition of Third has their Pop Proms performance at the Albert Hall in 1970 on it. Easily the Softs best album.

U2- Never understood this band. Poor acoustics, poor sound, terrible vocals. They sound like a 60’s garage band. Aerosmith- The deafening repetitive guitar work gives me a headache. Steven Tyler is a horrible singer. The lyrics are disgusting. And every decade they get much worse than the previous one. Wish they would have gone away after the 70’s. Guns & Roses- Those vocals are painful to listen to. Cat scratching the chalkboard. I really hate this band and have so since the very first time I heard them in 1987 and going into middle school. Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band- Terrible singer and an egotistical fanbase and following. I don’t know what makes The Boss great. There is nothing to even like. AC/DC- 4 repetitive chords and screaming. All their songs sound the same. Guitarist in his underpanties. This band is so gimmicky I could never take them seriously. B52’s- Are they purposely trying to annoy us? REO Speedwagon- Their lead singer sounds like Big Bird. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts- Horrible singing and musicianship and lyrics about how bad she hates men. Toxic corporate garbage. Eurythmics- I actually might like this band if it were not for Anne Lennox woo-hooing weird sounding vocals that ruin everything else about the band that might be good. The Rolling Stones- They probably buy their recording equipment at Radio Shack. Mick Jagger can’t sing and the poor acoustics and mediocrity of the band is unimpressive. Boy George and the Culture Club- Two things ruined New Wave. A more commercial direction and this terrible band. The Go-Gos- They don’t got the beat. The Eagles- Yeah I can tolerate some of the non radio songs. The overplayed radio songs I want to unhear permanently. Other honorable mentions John Cougar Mellencamp, Tom Petty and the Heatbreakers, Bob Dylan,

So lotsa great choices for 2004. I'll stick with my approach to the FF picks & do mine alphabetically - two letters per day/year. There are SO many. Here are the picks for 2004/Q-R: Richard Hallebeek Project/Rhp - fine fusion album with guests Shawn Lane & Brett Garsed. Udo Pannekeet from Isotope/Focus on bass. There would be a followup in 2012 Rough Cutt/Afterlife - AOR on the heavy (metal-ish) side but with plenty of hooks & good tunes. Excellent vocals, ties to Ozzy/Quiet Riot/Dio. Jake E. Lee was in this band in the 80's prior to his Ozzy stint as Randy Rhoads' replacement. Note that this is really a Shortino/Northrup album but it's close enough to Rough Cutt. Paul Shortino also has 3 excellent solo records out between 1993-2003 RTZ/Lost And Found - wonderful AOR album from Boston's Brad Delp & Barry Goudreau. This is previously unreleased music from RTZ HM's: Queensryche, The Radiators, The Reputation, Retroheads, Richie Kotzen, Rick Springfield, Ringo Starr, Rovo, Rush

Great review .Lots of talk on the sounds of the instruments, the remixes, etc but not much on TM’s vocals.I have all of this era on cd/vinyl and I will eventually (or probably now) buy it but as you guys said Forbidden sounds great but a lot the songs are lousy. But no mention of Tony Martin’s vocals which when I first the album he was really struggling.None of the soaring highs and passion from the previous albums.Yes I heard he had problems with his voice but really he didn’t know wether he was coming or going in the band.I have listened to the remix of Forbidden on Spotify and it sounds great but it still sounds half arsed .But more love to the Tony Martin era,I wore out the grooves to Headless Cross and Tyr.

Im shocked Pete didn't mention Benny the Bouncer. That is the poster child for this subject. I disagree with Martin on Trashed . Love that and its a great opener. Always liked Dyer Maker and Roll the Bones. Also, i don't think a ballard is always out of place on albums.

A correction on my Neil Young & Crazy Horse segment. I erroneously mentioned that long time Crazy Horse guitarist Frank “Poncho” Sampedro had died. He merely retired from the band in 2014. My apologies to Poncho and his fans. I’m pleased to hear that he is still in the world of the living. Moving forward, I will double check my facts more thoroughly before recording time.

One of my favorite power metal bands, ranking them with George is appropriate. First off my absolute top albums are Holy land and Fireworks. Next comes Angels cry, so that covers the late Andre Matos period. So, for seven that follow: Rebirth, Temple of shadows, Secret garden, Aurora consurgens, Omni, Cycle of pain, Aqua. I think that the latest one will rise in my top as time goes by.
