I'm Karen, I love reading but I've also discovered that I love creating new covers for my books. This is my journey in learning the art of bookbinding at home. Thanks for being here! 🥰
Hi! I've started a similar project, (trying to make a book makeover) but I'm uncertain which type of silver foil is best with the Cricut joy. Could you give me any recommendation of a brand or place where I can find what I need? Thank you in advance!❤
Hi 😊 if you mean transfer foil I've only tried it a few times, so I'm not an expert. However, you can find it on amazon. Cricut itself produces it, or this is the one that I have: We R Memory Keepers 0633356606680 Foil Quill-4 x 6 Inch Seat-Silver Swan (30 Piece), M a.co/d/g8i5fuG Hope it helps you ❤️
Very nice! Love the patterns on the page edges too that all help bring the design together. I panicked for a second watching you apply the cover vinyl, but it came out great. For me, I would use the dry hinge method (having used vinyl for about 15 years), but you seem to have the application worked out great.
Thank you so much! I actually panicked myself while I was applying it. 😂 I'm still a beginner and didn't even know the dry hinge method before your comment. Now I'll have to try it! Thank you again!
Thanks! It depends on the material you use, Cricut permanent vinyls are the ones that I think last the longest. If I'm not mistaken they are guaranteed for 3 years outdoors, so I think they can last even longer on books, if looked after well :)
@BookishDIYChronicles that's what I thought. Thanks for answering so quick! I'm about to start my next book and I think I'll get some of that for the cover!
@@BookishDIYChronicles Thanks, I’ll check it out now. I’m doing my first book soon and finding the right material for the cover has been tough in the uk.
@@declanhandscombe7634 maybe you can try making the fabric yourself, I've seen many tutorials on youtube and tiktok. I'll definitely try it sooner or later
the cover design is sooo pretty! i love how creative it is! the glitter looks so cool (then again, i'm obsessed with anything sparkly haha!). great job!!
@@BookishDIYChronicles Do you have a link for the stickers? I would really love to use them for my own project. I can't find the big ones that you used for the backs
@@stefanieschulz6871 I'm sorry I only saw the comment now. I don't have any links, they are illustrations that I found on Pinterest, sometimes with difficulty, sometimes by joining multiple images together
Hey there, great work with those books! Just a question, how are you cutting those fine details in Cricut? What are your settings for the machine so that it cuts the details and the small letters?
Thank you! ❤️ I don't do much, in terms of settings nothing at all, I choose a simple font and decide the size, Cricut does the rest. With images and fonts that are too small and elaborate the results wouldn' t be the same, I would ruin everything in an attempt to remove the excess vinyl. I hope I have answered your question 😊
This is so cool! I am learning book re-binding this year with a goal of re-binding the Stormlight Archives series at the end of the year! I love the dual colors you did here!
Great video thanks! What model of Cricut did you use to make these? Also how durable is the vinyl cutouts once they are stuck on (ie do you think they will peel off over time)? Cheers
Thank you!! I'm currently using Cricut Joy. The vinyl is the permanent one so it should last a long time; I 've been using it only for 4 months, but for now it seems holding up very well. I noticed that if I make a mistake or change my mind I can remove it within minutes, but it leaves a slight mark on the cover. Anyway, I personally believe it will last for years. 🤞🏻I might even make a video next year showing how they held up. Thanks for the idea! 😊
Thank you!! 😍 It requested quite some time but definitely worth it. I think it's my favorite too, I love them all of course, but this one has something extra 😊
I feel like this is perfect. If you do Roald Dahls Charlie and the chocolate factory maybe a super colorful and artistic cover? Make it look like a golden ticket maybe, or a wonka bar lol
