Hello viewer, Welcome! I build custom.... stuff.. Historically, my skill set has centered around boat building and components of boats. I like challenging myself and often drift outside the marine industry. There really is no telling what may end up on this channel.
There may be some personal content thrown in. In the last 5 years, I took up Bowhunting. Honestly, if I knew how challenging it was, I would probably not started. Bowhunting on Public Land in South Florida is one of the most challenging endeavors I have come to know. I did not have the benefit of starting at the age of 12. I had to learn fast. I may share some of my experiences.
I also seem to encounter Alligators almost daily. This is peculiar because I was born in Eastern Kansas yet my Baby Book suggests my favorite toy was a stuffed alligator. I respect these creatures and enjoy capturing their activities. I don't know for certain, but I suspect these videos will get the most views.
🤔 Can't say I agree with that choice. I personally would go with a 3/4" 20# - 26# foam that would be stronger and take up less space with less fiberglass. Except 1.5- 3" for the engine beds like in the Bertram. But that is just my opinion. And you know what they say about opinions!! 😂
Does it matter that resin is by weight and gelcoat is by volume, im asking because my can of gelcoat says 14 to 16 drops per oz and my resin says 7 to 8 drops per oz.
Both resins and gelcoats should be mixed by weight. Polyester resin generally needs 1% MEKP, and gelcoat should be catalyzed around 2% MEKP. There is no golden rule or set ratio. You have to experiment with the materials that you have on hand and adjust as needed.
@@vernesecustoms was going to keep on experimenting with gel coat texture and use a modified drywall gun to spray it out. Haven’t got the mix quite right yet
Thanks, Tim!! I can't say for certain when I will have time to produce the next long video. I am working 6 days/week on the boat. Not much time left. Figured these Shorts would at minimum keep y'all up to date!
Yes, my shoulders were sore!! 😂 Most of the hull prep was done by another fella. After sealer paint, I decided to block it out again. That took about 3 days. Thanks for watching man!! 👍👍
Thanks for all your videos. I have a 34’ Viking that’s sunk for a few days then was gutted that’s where she sits. I acquired it and want to bring back to life and do it the right way. You for sure do things the right way! Learning a lot and getting inspired by your videos keep it coming! North Fl
An inmense amount of talent here . I am engineer and pretty handy and dont consider myself able to do this by any means without help. You are the goat man !
Sprayed. I have seen some good rolled paint jobs. There is really no comparison. Each coat we apply melts into the last and draws the clear to the surface. This will get blocked out and the final will be done in AwlGrip HDT
I tried to remove the music with YT's AI.. no luck. I will release more "How To" content after the Bertram 31 project is complete. For now, turn the volume down and "CC" on. That works for me! 👍
Yes, that is straight out of the gun! I believe we did 3 coats. Chaging our process a bit. This will get 320 grit and 3 more medium coats for the final finish.
Killin it! You like shooting 2 part finish over gel coat. 2 part sure lays nice straight outa the gun but I always wondered about the longevity and ability to repair
I actually find it therapeutic! 😅 I am using AlexSeal fairing compound with Fast Hardener. I get about 30 minutes to work it. Can come back and pull more over it if needed in about 1 hour. I see a lot of "professionals" slap it on and sand it off. Not my thing. Tight wipes, block it out next day.
