What do you recommend if fat coats of wrong color was applied prior to getting the correct color? Do I try to remove that, or just still paint thin coats over it with correct color?
Andy PLEASE. I tried emailing you but you never responded again. I have a 2010 Toyota Camry light grey leather seats; if I put the cockpit red dye on will it turn out a stark strong red or will it come out a muted pink??? I would rather do this because it’s less costly than getting whole new seats. Thanks
Parents bought a new to them Toyota Avalon that had a strip of leather on the edge of the driver seat showing some of the black underneath. Ordered some of the “Toyota light gray” specified for that car from Seat Doctors, perfect match and looks like new!
How long should you allow each coat to dry using the sponge brush method ? Is it only until it flashes with the hair blower or is there a specific time
The cracks I filled in with the gray filler, even after I sanded, won’t take the dye. I have brown leather and after multiple coats it just has a pink/red color to it where the filler is. What am I doing wrong?
I used this and am thoroughly impressed. I bought the dye for my 98 eagle talon tsi awd. Sent in my vin and they sent me a perfect match. I grew up doing art so this came naturally to me and I used a bit of my own creativity. I cleaned the leather, deglazed with acetone, I also used acetone on a magic eraser on the rough cracked areas to buff our the rough spots. I then applied light layers and used the hair dryer method. My seats look brand new. I'm so happy with this.
Stumbled upon seatdoctor online when looking for alternatives to get a very ugle dye stain on my Ultra white tesla seats. I ordered and hoping for good results. Will keep posted.
great video , so how do i fix uneven color spots ? i apply around 4 coats already and still getting some spots with a lighter color than the rest of the seat :/ also on one spot you can see streak of paint.
After applying the stain (looks fantastic btw) is there a product I should apply afterwards? Is it ok to treat the leather with a conditioner or protectant? Thanks!
I have used this product as well. Unfortunately the filler doesn't hold up. If you apply it to the piece of leather that gets stretched when you sit-down or get up it will crack. The paint is disappointing as it comes off if you use rubbing alcohol and most likely will come off if using another cleaner. It should not happen to leather dye. You need to apply seven coats to make it even if not using spray gun. The leather texture is lost by the time you are done. Overall great for car flippers but I am not one of them. Color matching was not very close in my case, definitely noticeable if you don't paint the entire interior but this could vary. 1 filler is not enough for 1 seat and they claim it is enough for the entire vehicle. So get 2 of them if you have a lot of repairs and don't expect magic. Overall the seats look better, but I need to find filler alternative. Tired of reapplying and repainting...
This stuff is incredible! Perfect Match for my 2019 Volvo -- Wondering when it is safe to apply leather conditioner to the seat after applying the dye?
repairing a steering wheel without any filler and getting incredible results, I'm gonna be able to restore my entire car with one bottle and thing of filler! If you have anything other than black (and honestly black too, theres so many blacks) don't bother with Clyde's... terrible return policy and much smaller amounts.
My son and I are so glad we found the Seat Doctors videos and website. I bought him a 2012 Hyundai Elantra with black leather seats, but the color was worn in numerous areas to a bare leather color. They matched the color exactly, based off the vin of the car and "WOW!" the rear seat look amazing. We're getting ready to work on the front ones now. The cost of the dye is well worth the price and much cheaper than replacing the seats (even with something from the junkyard). I Recommend watching the videos entirely and following the steps as demonstrated and explained.
Hello. I am ordering from your website, but I have a quick question. Part of my seats are black leather, and i want to rub on a java brown color. What would I need to do for the slightly lighter color to turn out ok?thank you
So I have a brand new Mazda CX-30 Preferred with parchment colored seats and got tree sap from SOMEONE 🤬 leaving the sunroom open. I got the sap off, but it took the color off or maybe it's just what won't come off of the leather. ANYWAY, ordered the parchment color as per instructured by Andy. I'm waiting for it to arrive, and was wondering what would you recommend I use to apply? A painter's brush , a makeup sponge ....Its basically a long straight thin line and then a few droplets on the bottom. Thank you!!!
The color definitely matches my seats but for no reason no matter what I do, even if I use a little bit less or little bit more dye it always makes streaks and doesnt spread evenly even though I follow all the steps in the video
I used this product on my Nissan Murano steeringwheel and it looks GREAT. I am VERY happy with how it turned out. Looks like new! I would totally recommend this for touchups, repairs, and etc.
I got the Seat Doctors oyster for my Mercedes 320clk 2002. I am applying it today like in the video with folded paper towels very carefully per video. The color so far is inconsistent and spotty, after two light coats. Is there anyway to make it more consistent other than carefully applying more coats?
This is "seat doctors leather dye rub" It lays over a light coat of leather material or dye to old leather? Where can i find it in jet black or black color for a 99 corvette?
For anyone that follows, no, do not condition the leather, only clean it with a water based cleaner (Lexol or Simple Green) first. Conditioner will leave a residue. Clean, apply dye, let dry, apply second coat, let dry (third coat if needed), let dry for a few days afterward. Then conditioner every six months or so. 👍

Thank you for sharing. This was so helpful. But I have an acura with dove gray seats. My driver seat has a blue stain that I can't remove with cleaners. I purchased the dye from seat doctors- exact match but will I have to dye the entire section of the car seat for a stain in the middle of the seat? My test patch is a good match but it seems a little lighter. Maybe additional coats will look darker?
