Welcome to Risendragon Games! I am a 40-something dad of two with a passion for Magic cards and teaching (middle school history and ELA teacher by trade). I am a combination Timmy/Johnny player: one who enjoys winning with underutilized cards to the fullest extent; I like to win big even if it means losing big as well! From the second I opened LJF, I fell in love with him. this deck is a blast, but I modified some creatures to more heavily rely on the "Legendary creatures" mechanic. I also threw a "Tiny bones joins up" to really make them feel the heat!
Lol you comment on other peoples friend groups cause you get farewelled twice. Maybe you shouldnt bust your whole nut and play our your hand. Playing RESOLUTE REINFORCEMENTS WHO HAS FLASH on your main phase 1. Fix your plays before you go posting

@@risendragongames it and Dusk are the only sets im looking forward too, ive seen an anon talk about the death race set and its apparently featuring planes not recently visited. so i presume that excludes Kamigawa but not necessarily characters from there. we will see i guess.
Not sure if you knew, but high noon shuts down etali. Even though he etbs, the cards pulled can’t be cast since he was the one cast spell that turn. Kind of cool.

if i spend mana from barracks of the thousand for a colorless artifact like thran spider, would i still create a gnome token? Or only when i spend the white mana?

Make a merfolk deck and splash only for warleaders maybe? Lightning helix and rona are cool but not really with the theme. Try springleaf drum to tap and untap stuff with the researcher. Kumena is awesome with deeproot but then you are 4 color. So take that as you will. Maybe the springleaf drums give you the ability to produce the mana you need to not play horribly off curve in a 4 color.
Yeah. I was thinking the same thing. Rona is in here because you want to cycle through your cards, but you may already have plenty of that in here already with Bitter Reunion, Consider, and Otherworldly Gaze. You need removal for big threats, and you have Destroy Evil and Fading Hope in your sideboard. Maybe put those in your main deck and sideboard Rona (or some other card cycle creature). You have to survive long enough to get your combo off, and there are too many decks in the meta that can go big and/or wide really fast. Like the idea of the deck, though. Hope you can figure it out and make it work.
I like it! What about more cantrip/search cards? Maybe even in a red blue geological appraiser style shell, to hit the 3 drops more? It's a fun deck idea.
@@risendragongames OK, Jaxis troublemaker is the add for me. For blitz, 2 red and a colourless, you can clone the first merfolk. I'm also trialling some helping hand, to give a bit more resilience. Still hard to hit all the pieces, but its coming together! Some more deeproot consistency would be great
@@risendragongames it will with the new sets and rotation. Just looking at what cards wotc has let out in standard it looks like the power creep will dial back a bit with rotation. Like slightly weaker cards replacing key staples in a lot of decks. Pace should hopefully slow down a bit giving things like artifacts a better shot.
Not trying to hate but isn’t it pretty easy to get platinum since you get two points towards a rank up? I just find myself ranking up to platinum simply by playing a decent deck.
Oh definitely! No hate taken. I like to brew and try different decks all the time and I do it for fun, so I don't really have a ton of motivation to like go competitive. :) Also, I am a teacher, father of two, husband... my energy to competitively play is usually nil by the time vacations roll around and the same goes for when I have time to myself...
Generates more tokens that we can use for mana and builds a big board! We can Descend using the surveil and mill stuff and the more fungi we have, the bigger the tyrant hence bigger the big finisher!
