Thanks Kip I remember the Carlsberg Kliesdales were just huge. Getting our bike's ready for the bike parade was a huge deal. Every kid in Sarnia that had a bike had to have entered. Watch out for those RR tracks on Front Street they are killers.
I walk the dog under both bridges every morning. These bridges are just awesome!!!! So much history involved. The second span opened in 1997 Traffic never improved though😢
Beautiful city to grow up in. Sarnia girls were the prettiest. Regrettably, most of my family that were born and raised in Sarnia have all died of cancer. I was lucky. I lived there from age 10 to 18 and I never wished to go back.
So fun to see what Sarnia used to be back in the day and how much it has changed since lol! it was weird seeing only one bridge to the US lol! i remember watching the second span being built, but to see it before that was even a thing is just great lol! The good ole days lol.
Omg. I remember playing on that cement ship. And swimming off that dock in about 1987. By this time there were rotting fish floating around, trash and even further down we would swim near the sewage pipe. No shit, there was actually shit floating around in the water back then. I remember this floating restaurant they had at one point and we would hear the toilet flush and yes it went right in the water. They were charged after that at some point and it was shut down. Alot of fun memories but wow I look back and realize how polluted this water was. I'm surprised I'm not dead . Lmfao
Canatara Park was my defacto back yard. Other good times I remember was the Brigden Fair and took a helicopter ride in a Bell 47 (helicopters you see in MASH) with my brother. My dad paid $10 for us both. First time I flew in anything and now I've been all over the world. Thanks dad !
I can almost smell the summer time urine stink at the cement tug boat and steel light house. Sarnia's kiddie toilet. The Kings singing Switching To Glide "...I gotta get out of the hole..." Rings solid for me.
I lived in Sarnia for years. I miss the beauty of the area but we had to leave because my husband needed work and just couldn't find it. And I ended up in Toronto the ugly. I miss Sonia all the time and wish things could have been different, my son was born there. If I won the lottery today I would go back to Sarnia and buy a place there or Brights Grove or one of those areas but somewhere along there around Sarnia. I miss Sarnia and the memories.
For the city staff sitting behind the Councillors and in the centre, is there only one who is still working fir the city? It looks like the others are all gone.
To the creator of this video: You put a lot of hard work into this video. It is entertaining to watch and not an easy video to do. You obviously have a talent for this kind of work. Keep doing what you are good at.
