As someone who plays competitively, I feel this. Switched over to One Piece - I’m still learning that game and have a 50/50 track record compared to my good record at YGO, but I’ve had so much more fun with the former. Konami has to address a lot of the issues the game has, but they refuse to (ie banlist, communication, cost of the game vs the value of cards, prize support, etc.) before I commit as hard as I did pre-INFO. They way they handled the NA WCQ and INFO’s release put a lot of players on a time crunch to get the cards they needed, while also ensuring Fiendsmith Snake-eye was the best deck in the room by a mile. I personally played against the deck 8 out of 9 times day 1 of the event and was absolutely burned out by the end of it The good news for you - they did announce that they’re going to focus on “Retro YGO.” Might be more your speed..
This is a really cool perspective to hear! I hope the retro games stuff is good and they actually communicate what they plan on doing. I love the game but I also value myself and my time. The new stuff is not worth my energy anymore. Good luck to you though on the one piece! Hope to see you win a championship one day!
Hey, I get it. Left that rat race years ago. I got my Karakuri and Battlin' Boxers - I'm happy enough, especially when playing against people who just wanna show off their own favorite archetype. There are lots to enjoy about this game, but enough is enough.
My problem with Yu-Gi-Oh is konami printing absurd and broken archetypes, and it doesn't help that they don't push alternative formats like goat or Edison
I try not to take the game too seriously. Everything is archetype based, and like you said everything is hyper fast paced. While I dont like the hyper fast pace, I do really like the archetype deck building. Love making a deck that revolves around a concept or archetype, and finding strategies and cards that fit with it. I definitely don't like the competitive scenes!
Exactly! I don't hate the game, actually quite the opposite! I love stuff like melffy and I really liked purrley. Archetypes are dope and make for creative deck building. It's just moving to a place that I personally am not enjoying anymore, which is okay!
As I explored other games, it really showed me how much I didn't enjoy advanced format in Yugioh. I have seen other videos, and it seems like everyone has their own reasons
I also have been having a hard time liking YuGiOh recently. I don’t care to play YuGiOh at all, it’s not fun. I’m more of a collector, but honestly it seems like a waste of money so I’ve been buying less and less this year.
I understand where you're coming from. Their still is a collectible side with the older stuff but, yeah it depends on how it feel for you. If it doesn't feel good then it's not really worth it!
Digimon is the best TCG currently available. Sorry not sorry. I play Yu-Gi-Oh, but the game is so needlessly complex and horribly expensive with the amount of staples you need to buy that I will NEVER buy another Yu-Gi-Oh product ever again (NA Rush Duel release not withstanding). I exclusively play Master Duel now for whenever I need to get my little Yu-Gi-Oh fix, and honestly, I hope paper Yu-Gi-Oh dies entirely, gets replaced with something like Rush or better, and what we now call modern becomes completely digital. Harsh take, I know, but it's my truth.
I respect that view but it's not pointless. ALOT of people agree and alot of my subscribers appreciate my transparency. I'll never fake enjoying something just for views.
??? What does that even MEAN??? If this video doesn't have a point then what point does every other video have? Its a person talking about their experience with a thing, thats like a third of youtube. Another third of it being just random memes and clips, what point do those have? Besides, this video is also an announcement, does talking about how you're changing your channel forever not qualify as a point? Just because its a topic you don't care about from a channel you don't watch doesn't mean it literally has no reason to exist, what a deranged way of thinking
Agreed, the people running the tcg now made modern yugioh into a disaster where they throw the worst things at the wall seeing what sticks, all while being completely antagonistic to their own customers and community. I also couldn’t care less about crap like Abyss Rising. People have a problem with nostalgia bate for DM 5Ds and GX, but it’s literally the life blood of yugioh. They have failed to drive interest in other series and card design as time goes on and if they take away nostalgia from the marketing it’ll hurt the bottom line greatly . And also it’s not just NOSTALGIA, duel monsters and yugioh may have came out over 25 years ago but it still drives in NEW viewers who have NEVER seen or sit down to watch the series. Konami and the anime studios needs to do better yugioh, period. The marketing is in shambles. ash catchem from Pokemon was the face of the series for most of its lifetime, most of the fan base didn’t care. For some reason people are so harsh on yugioh, because its bold enough to not make an anime with the same protagonist every series, but in doing so you have to make up for it with story but mostly card design and marketing and tie-in etc… it’s a dark time in ygo tcg because of this. Ocg knows how to package and market duel monsters products and modern products it just comes down to the bozos in the offices BRAINSTORMING. 😮💨 it’s exhausting to watch, heartbreaking really what they’ve done to this precious IP.
I love this. What sucks is, alot of the community will bash you for pointing out valid criticism of the game. It's one of the few communities that pushes players out for not enjoying the current state of things. It is really sad, I love the IP and will continue to open older, fun sets that I enjoy. But I'm no longer feeding the modern way the game is going
There's so much! It's tough to keep up with everything and in the future I really plan on making more videos around other games. Right now I just have a ton to get straight first. But there's so many out there!
Modern yugioh is pretty meh. I haven't played in tournaments since like 2019. I know some people like the complexity but I dislike the amount of time you have to commit to the game to get good at it. I think synchro era was peak yugioh gameplay. Not too complex, not too simple. I don't even consider modern prints of cards worth collecting anymore. All the foils warp instantly. I think the foil warping problem started in 2010-2011. It's sometime during 2010 and prior that cards of that era aren't prone to warping like they are now. And modern foils can even warp your old non-warping cards if you have them in the same deck and they aren't heavily compressed. I switched to shadowverse evolve. More simple, more fun, cheaper, great artwork.
And that is 100 percent okay! I'm honestly happy that people enjoy it! I never want the game to fail. Advanced format Yugioh just ain't for me anymore! But trust me, I will NEVER be done with yugioh. My passion for that game is always there, just shifting my energy into the stuff I truly enjoy in the game
anyone who still plays modern yugioh in general and competitive in specific is either a shriveled up ghoul who got in on the ground floor in 2005, or is an unimaginable omega-level autistic. not just "has trouble talking to girls" autistic, we're talking full-on model trains and spaghettios autistic. meltdown if your potatoes touch your asparagus autistic. there is no hope for any of these people ever living a normal life.
Hi OwlGaming, Making an important choice to whether or not continue keeping up with the modern Yugioh deck is not always easy but we all need to make. I think you're making a right choice and will wish you the best in your next steps :)
I completely understand your decision to step away! I will say this, you might be in luck as Konami is going to reprint most products of the past in the next year or two with the Retro Games announcement. Always enjoy your videos so whether ur opening yugioh or not! Will always be supporting you 🫡
I appreciate it!! It's cool to see both of our channels grow at the same time! I'll definitely be here for the reprints and opening older stuff! I want the best for the game, but I think that means I need to stop supporting the stuff I don't enjoy. To a brighter future!
I kind of feel the same. YuGiOh looks so cool that's why I wanted to try it. But my experience with Mater Duel was not good :( I end up print replica of cards from Legend of the Blue eyes white dragon. and play some games with my colleague. We had a lot of fun! The old YuGiOh what we were used to play when we was kids at the playground at elementary school. KONAMI has to keep printing the old sets every year, if that company wants new players and kids to play this game. I bet this is not just my opinion.
Best Decision ever made, yu gi oh looks cool, but not fun to play anymore. As mentioned before, I quit cuz it is not worth spending time playing it, the fun is not equal to the time investment. ... To All yu gi oh players: Quit before it is too late, the game is bad for your mental, health, and pocket, go have fun with other games, you won't regret it!! except league of legends, that game sucks too.
I feel this! I'll still open things like retro pack and old set because I like them alot and I get genuine enjoyment from those. But yeah, trying to force myself to enjoy the new stuff is not worth it
Im so old i first started playing the game arpund the release of PSV, and have kept up with modern as of the last year-ish. my friends dont care anymore either, but i love casual yugioh AND the classic gameboy and ds games
That's a long time! I love the game and Yugioh in general so I'll still be creating content for it, just not opening the newest sets as they come out! If they ever re-release Duelists of the roses the I'll will spend SO much time on that game
You're all good! The new stuff is fast and complex. The core of yugioh is the same but old cards and archetypes struggle to keep up with the speed and power of the modern game. I love yugioh, but the new stuff is just too much for me personally. I tried and gave it a chance but I don't enjoy it
"It's hard to see things when you're too close. Take a step back and look" I love that quote and I carry it into alot of pack openings. I genuinely just enjoy these silly little games and cards. I've got a passion for them!
Was waiting for your video on the set, saw some of these cards, I think the coolest art of them all is (Tyver, the pummeler) holly shit the art is insane!! idk I think BLB is a little better than this one, I have not read the effects or anything yet, but the set seems extra serious, idk how to describe it, but it feels like their key words when making this set were (crazy), (extra), (all out), and (let's show them)
It's soooo good!I'm happy we are getting another awesome set!! The keyword choice is so flavorful too! It took me extra time because I wanted to edit everything so it turned put how I wanted. And it did! Took alot of work lol
@@owlgaming037 yeah I appreciate your hard work on the editing, i know how much time it takes for such stuff and how boring they can be but the finished result is definitely worth it, and you learn a lot of new cool tricks for the next videos.
I'm so excited for this set. The art and flavor are so good, and I love the overall vibe! P.S. - Expropriate is every bit as terrifying as you think it is and will make people groan in games of Commander when it resolves. Typically, you (the caster) will vote time, and the other 3 players will usually vote money. So then, for each of those 3 players, you gain control of their best permanent. Then you take an extra turn. It's brutal lol.
After opening 12 boxes and spending around 250 on them I knew I would have to go for singles to complete the set. Only pulled 3 secrets from the 12 boxes and 2 of them where the same ,relieve monster. Pulling a secret rare is very hard.
Ayy, nice full art pulls! One of the best grass types you can pull from Pokemon GO is the Radiant Venusaur! And the next time you decide to open more Pokemon GO make sure to look for the Ditto symbol below either the Numel, Spinarak and Bidoof, there's a chance of a Ditto holo behind em!😊 Also my favorite card of the set is actually the holo rare Sylveon. I love my Eeveeloutions.
I always forget about ditto!! I'll definitely look out for it! And Sylveon is amaaaaazinggg! Other than Leafeon it's definitely my favorite Evee evolution!
