It is nice to have a strong community in your house. Some people don't even have that. It's definitely something we all have to work on (expanding the community) but it not as easy as it "should" be. It's like junior high nightmares all over again and trying to make friends... ;)
oh heck yes I've got allllll the videos coming up (the soup videos helped me figure out what I need to do to make videos happen in my life) . :) Thanks for the feedback!
Awesome, what kind? I love adding more trees. Do you have any other fruit trees? We have apple, cherry, and pear, but the pear doesn't do very well... definitely want to add a couple more trees (cherry or apple) next year!
You are so welcome! When I was thinking about all the different soups I could make, I thought... wait a second, why am I not showing people how to make broth? And why am I not making more for my own stash because in some of my last videos I had to run to the store to get the broth I needed to make the video. GAH. Hope we can both get our stashes replenished!
Needs more bacon, onions, and corn lol and less celery and potatoes lol and you could make a movie outta that blender, too lol *Attack of the Alien Space Blenders* sounds like a good working title for a cheesy horror movie (which reminds me, MOAR CHEESE!!! lol)
@katieallen3927 we've had a couple years in the past where nothing worked with the corn so we gave up. Decided to finally try again this year and for some reason this year it worked really well! Hope your harvest works out next year. 😊
@@FarmishKindofLife the first time I grew sweet corn I purchased a random package at Walmart and had awesome yields. Then last year and this year I ordered silver queen seeds and had disappointed results both years in spite of changing locations and having the soil tested and improved. I'm going back to random seeds from Walmart next year.
two words: MOAR FUNGUS!!! lol and don't spare the garlic, the onion, the pickles, or the pickle juice lol we like to make our burger patties with sage, oregano, thyme, cumin, smoked paprika, and sometimes marjoram or savory, so a few of those in the soup wouldn't hurt, either lol
Listen to me right now. There is no such thing as mushrooms on a bacon cheeseburger in my world. I won't allow it. You are banned from the kitchen. 🤣 (Also, just kidding. And those spices sound yummy!)
Looks delicious, wish I could eat bacon but alas, my body is intolerant of pork and there really isn't a good substitute for bacon. I know I can leave the bacon out but recipes just aren't the same.
Love this! I had a 2yr old son at 33, I have a 2yr old granddaughter at 53, I don't have the same energy at 53, I did at 33. I am greatful to be here,to be a part of her life!!
I do not have one of those garlic peelers, but I have seen people roll them on the counter and the clean clove comes out one side, and the peel comes out the other!
This is similar to my refrigerator dump soup. I take any leftover protein and vegetables in the fridge, add in stock, a jar of tomato sauce, thicken with instant potato flakes and any herb you want. I typically cook this in a crockpot. There is no recipe.
MOAR FUNGUS!!! A good venison stew should have loads of fungus in it (I'll happily take your portion) lol and more garlic, too lol it ain't a proper soup or stew unless it can kill a vampire at 200 yards lol and I heard the best version of worchestershire sauce pronunciations talking with some British ladies a couple months back, and they said they were taught to pronounce it "wash your sister sauce" lol
@Jokerkles ha! That's the best pronunciation! And you can definitely have my portion of fungus. I'm gonna make you a bowl of fungus topped with fungus served with a side of fungus. 🤣
Soooo....... Pie-vember? lol And in Canada (or Manitoba, at least), they're called casseroles lol and as much as I like cornbread, I prefer THICK buttermilk biscuits with my thick chili lol and oddly enough, we had chili tonight, but with both of us sore from working hard all day (and my wife taking a freezer lid to the back yesterday while defrosting a freezer), the biscuits sadly didn't make it on the menu tonight.
Pie-vember HA! Maybe. Yeah, I think "hotdish" is a Minnesota thing. Kind of like "duck duck GRAY duck" instead of "duck duck goose". You play that game up there?
The Ted moments are funny. I've made 3 of your soups so far, all turned out delicious! I did not have pizza sauce for the Pizza Soup, so I used regular tomato sauce with spices. Looks like this weekend is wild rice and chilli! Making extras for the freezer so we can pull them out this winter. Side note: Bongards cheese is the best!!! Thats what I'll be using as well.
I'm glad you've tried the soups and that they've turned out so well for you! And that Ted is quite a character. He clearly had something he wanted to say, and I didn't even realize it until I watched the clips back and noticed how much he was banging the camera around. ;)
My brother lives in Texas and they make their chili with steak, not ground beef and without beans and enough spice to burn the hair out of your nose when you sniff the pot. I much prefer your recipe.
HAHA! It's so fun to hear how different people make it. It makes you wonder what we can even call "chili" when they're all made in so many different ways. Thanks for watching the video!
Yeah that totally makes sense, and is a question I often have to struggle with. About to login to my puter (work remote for a tech company), and I'm on call every other week. Not complaining, just another slice of the reality pie to handle in balance.
I think it's a struggle for a lot of people, especially those who are on the computer/online all day for work. The reality pie is served differently to everyone -- hopefully we can get it figured out in a way that makes sense for us!
I think today you shared a lot of things that many of us struggle with - I really liked how you gave helpful tips on how to make it more intentional... like not carrying the phone in the pocket (guilty), not leaving the computer on with tabs open (guilty), timer??? I really should try that. Thank you for sharing.
I think we all will get it figured out. For me, I just realized I was so unintentional about everything. It was messy and lazy and I HATE that. And I don't think that fixing that requires that we all move to an amish-like community. I think we just have to be adults and figure out the boundaries. We can do it! :)
Happy Anniversary Are you familiar with the YT channel Anne of All Trades? I think you would enjoy some of her content. I treat my cell phone as much as I can as a landline. I leave it in the house when I go outside. I do make exceptions if I'm doing something risky. However I like the convenience of a pocket sized camera that I can take on walks, or having a way to call for help if my vehicle breaks down. I also don't keep my phone on or near my person when I'm at home. It comes with a built in answering machine and I believe in using that feature.
Thank you! I'm not familiar with that channel, I will check it out. Thanks for the suggestions and tips. It's something a lot of people (myself included) need a reminder about! Phones, like anything else, aren't bad. It's just sometimes the way we get used to using them, is.
That’s a great idea to help me stay meat centric and avoid bread. I eat chili until I’m sick of it and that’s well before winter is over. I’m definitely going to make a small batch of this and try it. You’ve never steered me wrong yet!
Here's a tip on cooking wild rice. I put an entire bag of wild rice in a 9x13 casserole, cover the rice with water, cover the dish with foil and bake at 350 DegF checking occasionally and adding water as necessary u til the rice is cooked, drain off excess water. Use what you need and freeze the rest for other recipes. I've also made wild rice in a crockpot. I thicken my soups using a rue which I melt cheddar cheese in before adding to my soup.
I hope you enjoy it! I don't know if you'd need the cream cheese AND the velveeta... although that could make it crazy creamy, I bet! I did the cream cheese with shredded cheddar in one pot and then just velveeta in the other pot. Sorry if that wasn't clear. If you do cream cheese AND velveeta let me know how it goes! :)
Needs more fungus and definitely more garlic lol It ain't a fall soup till you can kill a vampire at 200 feet lol and I l believe the term you're looking for is "chub". I used to get them all the time so I could have thick-sliced meat for sammiches lol and don't worry, we've ALL cut up sausage of some kind without removing the plastic casing first lol one last thing: MMMMOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRRRRR CHEESE!!! lol never forget the equation: cheese = life lol

In response to who would know if I'm okay I have an app on my phone called snug. The basic service is free and if I don't check in each day by my desired time the app will contact my emergency numbers. It's an awesome service for anyone living alone.
