I want to like this, but the amount of vibrato Spiner puts on his voice is insane and unnecessary. It really makes it hard for me to take the performance seriously.
I cannot count the number of times I replayed this entire album on repeat for...months? Years? I don't even know. It's like sliding back into the most comfortable pair of jeans in the world. Tahnk you for posting!
I have just begun making my way through ST: TNG from S1:E1, and I am really enjoying it!! Today, I found out about this recording! I am so stoked that Brent's backing vocalists are: Jonathan, LeVar, Michael, and Patrick!! This is super fantastic!! 🖖🏾
Este tema es increíble. Maravilloso Brent Spiner, gran actor, cantante, comediante... tan versátil, además de ser un Data eterno y adorable en una de las mejores series de la historia de la televisión. Absolutamente encantador.
This Soong-type android really IS fully-functional and programmed in a variety of techniques. It's actually an injustice of acting history that this guy never was even NOMINATED for an Emmy for playing Data
Much as Brent Spiner brings out the spectacle and pageantry of Adams’ imagination, it really hits the hardest when Thomson sings Washington’s words the first time: “Is anybody there? Does anybody care? Is anybody there?” For Adams, it’s about whether people can see the big picture the way he does and do what needs to be done. For Washington (as conveyed through Thomson) it’s about asking the people under his command to risk their lives, writing to Congress over and over in the hopes that they will not abandon them to the battlefield - that their preparations, their fights will not be in vain - only to wonder whether the dispatches are read and if they are, why nothing comes of it. It’s the poignancy of the vulnerability and feeling powerless. Much like “Yours, Yours, Yours” it is one of the simplest and most evocative moments in the musical.
