In true anime fashion it shows how money is literally someone’s own existence and preserving it is a means of survival for many people! It’s hit n miss as far as anime goes but this one episode alone summarizes it’s core concept.
Being chosen to be an Entre is pretty much having your soul randomly bought at an auction for devils. You’re the one up for sale, but the devils choose what they want to take from you as collateral. I feel horrible for Prof. Ibara. The poor bastard lost the family that he worked so hard to keep supported and his wife doesn’t even remember that she was pregnant with their third child.
I was fully invested(pun not intended) to watch this whole anime back when it was more recent on RU-vid, but the rest of the episodes never showed up in either English or subtitles and I lost interest.

That’s just the point. The people investigating the Midas money in the human world don’t know what kind of threat the currency poses as it spreads more and more from the financial district. Sure it doesn’t cause any visible problems in our world, but what’s going to happen if it completely takes over all of the planets currency?
Because Midas money are literally being printed in exchange for your future. Imagine, how much power someone has, who holds your future in their hands and you can't do anything about it.
It's due to it creating a sort of shadow inflation as more and more of the money is used to prop up the economy. It's a stop gap measure but the problem is that while it alleviates and forstalls economic collapse it doesn't stop it and it makes the problem worse in the long term. An example is a mountain continuously getting powder snow falls. The mountain is the economy and the snow is the midas money. The country and people can be considered the villiages built on or around the mountain. Now eventually the mountain won't be able to support the snow and parts of it will give way causing an avalanche as their is no real solid support of the snow/midas money thus it wipes out everything around it once things go critical.

I saw this through to the end because i wanted to see how the story ended and if everything was settled. so many plot points. like Masasaki stating early on that time stops while in the financial district, but then it doesn't at all. Maybe I just missed some stuff or was overly focused, but holy shit do i have unanswered questions. so if you buy someone else's asset, then a black card is obtained. this black card allows a person to trade their lifespan, as well as the future of their entire area's population. why is this way? how can he sell more of his life to the bank, when the bank already took his future as collateral? That'd be like trying to sell part of your car AFTER it has been repo'd. Was mikuni little sister real? They do realize that this whole thing is going to happen again, right? The actual solution is to pay back the money borrowed, but that's impossible if the currency drops to zero. To my understanding, the ending was just the boss realizing he needed to cut his losses and deciding to say "haha! it was all a trick to teach you guys a lesson!" while he thinks to himself: these people need to gtfo i just lost everything. This is reinforced by the fact their already planning to do it AGAIN.
I can explain some of those points. Bank takes your future as collateral, but not in it's entirety, so you can exchange more of your future, until you got nothing left, in which case you going bankrupt means, that you would just cease to exist. More Midas money you have, higher your impact on shared future becomes. Money press is equivalent of real-world money press, that countries use to print their currency, but in this case using future of whole country instead of paper and ink, causing inflation. Real life solution is taking that money out of circulation, because you have too much money not supported by any actual product. Which is pretty much what they did. And yes, whole thing will happen again, because it's how economy works. Black card is like real life "platinum" credit card - only most influential people in finances have it, because future of so many others depend on them. Basically, you can trade in not only your personal future, but also future of everyone, who's future relies on you.
Who wouldn't be afraid of losing, when you literally bet your future? Not just your money, but literally your fate, including your possible family, your possible children, everything can be taken away.
