@@sergejfras3535 it was in pot for 10 years. Stored it in a heated garage. For 3 years I planted it to the garden. No 100% guarantee that my method is working for every palm. For me so far so good.
we have a similar one (20 years old and this year first time in garden ground) - how do you protect it in winter time ? there are sometimes cold winter in Germany (-:
Beautiful! I have had planted two of them here in Düsseldorf, Western Germany. Climate is very mild in winter, but one had a desease, following rott, because it has been tied together due to works in the garden, then we had lots of rain and light frost at night, which probably accumulated in the crown. Then I took it out of the ground in spring, because it was planted in very bad soil and not growing very well anyway. The next year I planted a very small double Phoenix and we had a cold spell for a week in Feb 21 and it died. Phoenix theophrastii 'Golkoy' quiet small actually survived all of this without any damage, but planted close to the house.
@@laszloperneki6391 Nope I didn't. This year I planted another one. Very small, grown from seed. And again the cold blast had to come just when I newly planted another Phoenix canariensis. But upon until now it still looks good I only covered it with fleece and some dry palm leaves. We will see how it looks in a couple of weeks.
@@uranusneptun5239 ah, I see, I stil recommend some sort of heating like cable or oil radiator. It will increase the chance to survive in cold conditions.
@@laszloperneki6391 Yes but since then it didn't get cold again. Only extremely warm for winter with temperatures above 20°C. Still looks fine, but we will see. One of my Washingtonias has all its leaves burnt from that extreme cold.
Do you plan to plant a hedge along the fence? A windbreak hedge is able to filter the wind over 10 times its height. In other words, a windbreak hedge 2 meters high will protect your garden for 20 meters behind it.
Hello, no I do not plan to plant a hedge. By the way there are huge trees blocking the wind from the ruling direction but still we suffer from huge wind blows.
