It seems to me that Hermit is pretty much luck. If the fifth wave breaks right when you hit it its bad. Otherwise easy.

"Punching the tube" Throwing your weight forward to help keep weight in the front to break through the wave or keep weight down on the other side of the crest of the wave. Fun stuff!
