How do swell shutters work on something like this, since most things on an organ or player piano are either 100% on, or 100% off? Do they actually have multiple triggers for 25%, 50%, 75%, etc?
The same (usually suction operated) linkages that play the drums can be configured to work the swell shutters. Almost all band organs with swell shutters have just 100% on (open) and 0% (closed; off) but it is possible to also have triggers for 25%, etc.
9:32 is when Iván Zamorano is transformed into Gohan Zamorano And then a man said "Hey, everyone it's Iván Zamorano dressed up as Gohan! " And suddenly the party started
Very nice arrangement by the late Mr Dave Stumpf. All that said, as chromatic as this organ is in the melody and trumpet sections, it is still diatonic in the bass and without two important accidentals in the accompaniment. That is typical for band and fairground organs of this medium size, by any maker. However, Richard Rodgers wrote an extremely chromatic piece of music with many modulations and great extended harmony etc. This organ sounds great playing simpler tunes and even some other light classics that are less chromatic, but IMO cannot do justice to this overture any more than a W150 or small Limonaire can correctly play an opera selection. The only band organ I have ever heard play this piece with something approaching the sweep and grandeur of the original, is “De Grote Steenput”, a huge 97-key Steenput organ. I have a recording of this piece on it as arranged by Wayne Holton and it’s very nice. I must go check it out again. Thanks for sharing nonetheless.
It’s rare to see a Wurlitzer 165 with those female figurines on it. Do you think they came off of Wurlitzer #3124. I remember that band organ when it operated at Playland at the Beach in San Francisco had two female figurines on it. But when Playland was demolished in 1972 the band organ was sold and refurbished in 2009 when it was installed at the SC Beach Boardwalk, but without the two female figurines?
They aren't 3124's. 3124 never originally had statues to begin with. Only the early 165's would have statues. Say, Pre-2992 or something. 4 early 165's exist. They are: 2943 from Sylvandell, now at Sanfilippo's Palace, 2992 from the William E.Black collection, now at American Treasure Tour, 3030, from Walbridge Park and Eugene Skerbeck, now at Circus World Museum, and 3106, from West View Park, also at American Treasure tour and plays in syncronization to 2992.
@@khmam Remakes of original statues, yes. It never was originally made with statues. It is a late 165 from after January 1918 when 3106 was sold. 3378(Gilson's organ) was first sold in June 1921.
