I often think how much I truly wanted the G1 Movie to fulfil more than it did; I think most of us G1 fans (as kids) were really let down by it. The deus ex machina ending, the jumbled plot, the hap hazard attempt to kill off the G1 toy line and shamelessly promote the new line. I could have dealt with the killing off if it was more comprehensive, and we had closure on a great deal of our favourite characters, and I feel the deleted scenes involving those guys would have been more relevant to the story. Would have loved to have seen Mirage in that scene, taking up a sniper position and nailing Megatron, before having his position taken out. Would have been nice also to see Defensor and Superion too, surely they would have been scrambled to tackle an assault on Autobot City. 🤷♂️ Maybe a cameo from Metroplex as well, and even Trypticon, especially in a joint effort to battle Unicron at the end. I dunno, if I had the skills, I’d edit and produce and compile it myself. For my own closure and pleasure. 😂 Ultimately, The OST is the only thing that has really endured for me, it was a masterful soundtrack for the most part. 👏 I still listen to parts of it today.
What a soundtrack! Just got through listening to it and i never cease to be blown away by the incredible groove and tempo of it. And "Legacy" is just amazing, interesting how as Vince discussed in this video how "Legacy" got him the job but the makers of the movie ended up not using it in the movie. And Unicorn's music is so mesmerizing and menacingly cool!!! Great score Vince, every bit of music you composed for Transformers will forever go down in history as one of the greatest film scores of alltime!! And i love how they adapted the "Megatron departs" track for season 3 of Transformers!
this is guy is absolutely unbelievable. I just bought the soundtrack off iTunes, been listening to it during a workout and BY UNICRON the stuff happening is so complex and kick-ass, I think my brain got a better workout than anything else. My new old hero
I love the haunting sound before the Creed Drago fight while it shows their cardboard cutouts facing each other in Vegas. True nightmare on elm street shit written by a genius. Screw the soundtrack, we want Dicola's score!!
Rocky IV was my first memory in a movie theater. Yes it was scary seeing Creed get killed since I was only 4 years old, but the music made a good movie a true classic. The score put that film over the top. Stallone was so lucky to have you Vince
I could've sworn he had his hand in this part of Toto's "Carmen", but I guess not. Very Vince DiCola-esque! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o36U2oQsLu4.html
I was in a band with Vince when he was still in high school. The rest of the band was a little older It was around 1975 and he was an amazing keyboard player even then. He could play Yes and ELP like he was in those bands.
He did the soundtrack to Transformers Devastation game, you can easily tell it's him, it sounds like it could've been made for the 86 movie, it just fits the game perfectly.
Marvelous score by the legendary Vince dicola! I love how he discusses his interaction with the also legendary Keith emerson(who composed that incredible smashing soundtrack masterpiece Nighthawks)through a letter. Vince's score for Transformers is epic and so glad that the record company Intrada finally gave Vince's dazzling score the complete treatment that it always deserved!
Interesting how Vince discussed how he sent his score to Transformers to the great Keith Emerson (the composer of the soulful and blazing soundtrack to Nighthawks) and how Keith wrote Vince back telling him how much he liked it. Film soundtracks are by far my favorite kind of music and Vince is among the long list of composers that i am so glad we're put on this earth to have given me the greatest gift that music has to offer. Thanks guys!!!!
Great in-depth interview with the remarkably gifted Vince dicola!!! His 2 notable soundtracks Rocky 4 and Transformers the movie seriously put him on the map as one of the most promising composers there has ever been. Very interesting to hear how he felt about orchestra being used. Admitting that he has nothing against it just that he would like to hear more synthesizers in soundtracks. Even though i love hearing orchestra in soundtracks probably more than any other style in soundtrack i would always warmly welcome Vince's music in any soundtrack cause his music for Transformers was soooo incredible and blistering with many memorable themes!!! And i am so glad that Intrada finally made the complete version of this amazing piece of music. And im so glad that the equally amazing audition piece "legacy" was included on the complete version of this soundtrack as well. Great job Vince!!!
One of the things I loved about the TF The Movie soundtrack is the way that he uses variations of the same themes repeatedly across different tracks and not in an obvious or contrived way.
Dude your hesitations about your score are purely your own, this is easily one of the best soundtracks of the 80's, and I love the movie even more for it. Part of what you did actually impacted me as a child shaping my views on the concept of good and evil, joy and dispair, making the first movie I ever saw still to this day one of my favourite movies of all time. You nailed it, you completely nailed it, and I'm sure every fan would agree.
