Hi Mrku, no we do not recommend using our Silicone Spray Aerosol to soften hardened rubber outsoles. This product is made to lower the coefficient of friction and to prevent corrosion. Applying this to shoe outsoles could result in decreased traction increasing the risk for slips and falls. There is a possible chance that your unit has a drip pan that is concealed and when this is the case there is an access panel that will need to be removed from the side of your unit to make the pan visible and accessible. If your unit does not come with a drip pan at all, they may be purchased and installed separately, but you’ll need to consult your manufactures manual to determine if your unit needs one. Fairus, thanks for your question! We would not recommend using Silicone Spray Aerosol on tires. This aerosol is specifically designed to reduce the friction of a surface to prevent sticking or jamming, however if this were to be applied on tires, especially the tread portion, it would result in decreased traction between the tire and the road. We do have tire dressing products which can be applied to the face of a tire some of which do have silicone components designed to give tires a shining or wet look, however likewise these cannot be applied to the treads. Might work great and easy like this video but huge difference when it's rusted fast inside a frame of a car or exhaust system. You can't always get that much room to go straight onto the broken stud, or it's grade 8 steel and doesn't cut that smoothly. Yes they work but the video is only explaining how they work, not how difficult some will be. Heat is your friend for rusted bolts deep in a steel part, Not Aluminum which cuts easy.

Stephanie, I believe you're referring to the section of the video where the phenolphthalein is added to the solution. Phenolphthalein is the color indicator in this reaction. The small extra amount of indicator in this case was added in order to ensure a clear color change was visible on camera. However, in practice, 3 drops of indicator should be utilized as adding more may slightly decrease the accuracy of the titration being completed. The weight meter is being used to detail the needed force applied at a constant speed in to the horizontal component (x-axis) to move a standard weight (50 lbs.). The only other force acting on this weight (in the x-axis) is the coefficient of friction for the surface the weight is being moved across. The applied force decreased because the coefficient of friction decreased (due to the lubricant) meaning the weight is easier to move at a constant speed ultimately resulting in a lower applied force (that weight measurement) being needed to move the weight horizontally. The weight shown on the meter is the force which is the same thing as how hard it was pulled.

While Silicone Spray has been used successfully on chutes for mail, plastic containers, and boxes, it has not been used in an application like this. It will definitely reduce the friction, but we don’t know if it would be enough of a reduction to allow for a heavy metal on metal object to slide easily.
