Doing this now haha looks good man. I wish my stock pipes where even though 🙄 I may end up getting new ones welded on but for now this looks so much better 😂
I just did this mod and idk if it's me but I feel like it is much quieter down low and also eliminates the turbo whistle at idle a bit and is quieter at idle. Also when cruising and rpms are winding down it eliminated alot of the gurgle you would get when slowing down . I'm kind of bummed as of right now but maybe a few more days of driving will change my mind.
Did this yesterday on my Abarth, wow, what a pain to cut, went through about 8 cutting wheels. HOWEVER, what a difference! Looks SO much better! Thanks for the video!
@@JesseBorovnica yeah and I didnt think it would actually change the sound but the drone is bit more prevalent but a little more gurgly which is okay in my book.
Your grandfather could tune a carburetor by ear and smell. You sir, have little talent and spent a hilarious amount of energy to make a merely cosmetic change to your car. This generation is doomed.
The nice part about assuming that this is all I do and not knowing about the Construction company I own and the homes I build every year from the ground up is that you can go to bed at night thinking you're better than others when in reality we're all the same. Working, enjoying family and friends and the holidays, enjoying cars and trucks, and making pointless videos in our spare time on Sundays. My grandfather was a brick layer and I'm continuing that tradition in modern day building.
@@JesseBorovnica , nice try with the 'high road' approach. I never said this is all you could do. I just said that you spent a lot of energy to make your exhaust look even more fake than stock. You were right about "pointless video" though.
the centre pipe surround with the 2 holes that restricts exhaust flow from the straight through pipe, what do people think would happen if 2 more holes were cut in it, so 4 holes, would it make it louder or would it cause a performance issue. etc
mike p no, the outer pipe never gets hot enough to melt the plastic or distort anything. It needs to be cleaned regularly with every wash to keep the exhaust from building up though. Not a big deal but I figured it's worth noting
i didn't need to to do this my abarth come with a novitec challenge corse straight through exhaust system with bigger bore tail pipes and it sound much better than the standard exhaust! but i can see doing this is a cheaper option than buying a new system and making the tail pipes look better than as it was. 👍😀
RC Geek Mark Jordan ya it really is that simple. Even though I was recording everything while I was doing it, it took me less than 2 hours total. The sound becomes a hair bit growlier, especially on cold start. While cruising it sounds the same, but I'm not sure if it's placebo or not but when you floor it the sound seems more amplified. Cutting out the center gives it a "Megaphone" effect 👍🏼
Personally, I'd have left the stock exhaust tips alone and had a muffler shop weld a new pipe and tips rather than ruin the OEM exhaust tips. You can always weld them back for OEM resale.
I did a muffler delete on my Sport, sounds like a 1 stack Abarth exhaust without the turbo. Advance Auto had a decent chrome tip for about $ 20. I wanted to go with an OEM Abarth tip, but couldn't find an economical one online. Car may be slow, but sounds too good. When they sound this good, a 9 second 0-60 mph, why would I want to listen to it for any less ? In traffic, I make Camaros, Vettes & Mustangs listen to the Fiat 500 symphony. When she starts up, can't count the times I've been told by others that they weren't expecting the tune that comes out of it.
ya going with a shop welding on new tips is always an option, but for me I wasn't looking to spend too much money. Everything I used in the video I have owned for years so for me I didn't purchase anything new for this project.
Absolutely man, I actually thought of doing the same thing by just painting the inner tip black. Ultimately though I knew it'd still bother me knowing I could've had a 4 inch tip haha. let me know if you end up doing it I'd like to hear how yours comes out!
