Great effort Sean, some time! Thanks for creating the video. Kept me company taking on the virtual ride on zwift, allowing me to see what the real climb looked like. Thanks! 😀🚲
Sean, Im coming over from the States to do the Ride to the Sun (carlisle to Edinburgh) ride. But before hand i want to come up here and ride this also. Looks like you made it up in around half an hour, how cooked were you? did you go down the other side to Applecross then turn and come back? or did you turn from the summit and go back? I am going to be on my own so leaving a car somewhere that i need to return to. Trying to figure out the range. Any thoughts? Is there a place to eat anything in Applecross?
Nice climb and onlly encouraging me to do Ironman bolton now . Not as steep as the climbs we have in the west country although its a long climb for sure :)
Impressive to say the least, I got more out of breath than you driving up there 😂To those who havent been there believe me, the film doesnt do it justice, that is one seriously steep climb. Hat off to you fella.
Rode this yesterday. Well, I say "rode", I stopped several times to spit up blood and teeth. Took me 26 minutes, which puts me 2,294th in the Strava ranking! I did not walk any sections though, so happy with that. Next time I'll take my MTB, which has lower gears.
Nicely done! I just climbed this for the second time the day after climbing The Long Mountain in Buttington. The Horseshoe seemed quite tame after that.
Now that is a deserted road - only one car and no other bikes! Did it a couple of times back in the 60s and 70s, as an alternative route to Ingleton. Brutal, cause we have to cross Grindleton or Wad Fell first.
you are much faster at riding up than I am lol I used to live 1.5mls from riber hill, once you've ridden it a few times it's not even hard to get up, I used to ride it sat down I never stand up on a bike lol
One of my favourite routes. Think my best time was just under 7 minutes from the bottom to the cattle grid at the top of the steep bit. 14:59 go straight on and that's a lovely stretch of road too. I do a loop up to Derwentside reservoir and back to Stanhope.
