Awww man this brings back memories, I was stationed in Kingsbay Ga during my Navy time bout 30 mins from Jacksonville, the homies taught us how 2 do it and we was killing it in the club 😅
I am with you, @TheGeeLuv, because I have been watching more "shorts" appear on the tube with other races and "ethnic" groups trying to do this Jookin'. Besides from being awkward, you can see instantly that they just do not have the swag to pull it off or they are just too uptight and high-strung to pull it off. On another level, quite frankly, it is, on the one hand, disgusting because I can't imagine none of these mfkz speaking up or going to the wire for black folks should black folks (FBAs) find themselves in trouble with the law; and, on the other hand, our culture always seem to get reduced by these other cultures to food, dance, violence, and swag. I wouldn't have a huge problem with other cultures paying tribute to our shit except for the fact that this is not what usually happens--especially when corporations get involved looking for black culture's next thing to make THEM money. Finally, I could sense that MP3 was on his home turf, hence the luv he got. But they were both laying down some serious science; and, as someone born in the 70s, it is always good to see young black folks having fun & loving with and on one another. Am I saying that only Black folks have soul--Yes, mostly, sometimes, because our soulful expressions come OUT of what we go thru in this country and the thing about it is this: What black folks go thru in this country is reserved specifically for us, it seems. This is not to deny other groups' struggles. But, this Jookin' sh*t isn't for everyone, and the ambassadors of Jookin' should remain those creators who are internal to its (Jookin's) culture and formation.
