Lukather's guitar improvisations during the drum solo appear to be spontaneus. Edgar Winter isn't sure when to leave the drums and finish the song. But he seems to enjoy working with musicians who can keep up with him.
I never appreciated what a brilliant record that was until seeing Edgar Winter in the All-Starr bands. And among other talents, he could have had a career as a jazz sax player, competing with Keeny G in the 80's.
Used to go see TM at small clubs in and around L.A. in the late 70s and early 80s. Always a great show. The orig members were so talented back in the day.
Fantastic musicians. I know it works for them, but I wouldn't want to be up front at any concert as they don't use amps on stage anymore. Give me a seat by the Soundman any day. That is; until all the morons stand up,block your view, sing along out of key (and wrong words) and clap out of time.
I remember when the song first came out the A/M radio stations played a very short version, about 3 minutes long maybe. It was that way on the 45. I didn't hear the long version till i bought the LP album.
I listen to this - recorded in 2023 - and it's almost like being transported back to 1969. Has it really been 55 years? And what the heck with Ringo - how does he keep doing this at such a high level? The band - I particularly appreciate Colin Hay from Men at Work (and a huge Beatles fan) - is spectacular and legendary. What else to say...I'm just so thrilled to keep enjoying the many timeless moments Ringo & band have to deliver.
The 80's were awesome! Lived evey day of ALL the 80's but that's in the past! Even this song belongs back there. Seeing her sing this makes me sad cause she used to be so pretty. Old and faded just like the 80's
One of the greatest songs ever written!!! Elton John, George Michael , morrissey, Paul McCarnty and Brian Wilson said this!!!!!! And so those the public!!!! We love you!!!!! Keep performing.. please
