High quality vid. Sorry to contradict, but I've seen lots of dogs go down that rock scramble. One guy carried his dog in one arm and walked down like it was just an ordinary staircase. You could've also just handed your dog down to someone at the bottom.

First time up there. Since I moved ten minutes down the road I’ve been up many times and yes you’re right, tons of dogs.. and more than a few in guys arms. Our dog at the time though, no, I would t trust her up there. She’s a serious puller and she would have done something haha

That's so funny you were talking about TS Isaias coming through and making the trails a disaster in early August 2020...like the park didn't suffer enough with 2018 tornado. What a mess. It was closed completely for over a year. And North Haven got another Tornado just a couple weeks after this on August 27th 2020.

I live about 3 miles from the park so i've committed my summer to hiking every single trai. Usually ill walk/hike 10-15 miles a day. So far i've done every main colored trail, all the red N/S trails, all the trail connectors, the horseback trail and ski trails. i just have the historic trails left to do. I've probably done the tower path 10-15 times so far. I'd say the violet trail is probably my favorite...they're all good, the blue one especially is unique and over 5 miles long. I haven't seen a 4 foot long black rat snake but i have seen a bear once.

Back in the mid 70's, there was a white goat that escaped from a nearby farm and lived up on the cliffs of Mt. Higby. I used to hike up there every weekend and leave apples on his trail. A very scary trail!

About 30 yards before the trail up to Castle Craig (1:29), there's a trail that'll take you up to West peak radio towers. Awesome trail!

You totally were standing right on top of the bunker. The concrete pad with the metal lid. Search around the edges and you will find a hole in the ground .it really small but going into that bunker. Also the thing up on top of the hill with all the cameras is the outer beacon for the Bradley airport

So on Falls Bashan rd in Moodus CT there is a huge waterfall in the woods off of the little portion of falls rd. There is a huge dam and old mill past the falls along the moodus river. There is the small waterfall that goes from the reservoir to the river. It travels under the rd and then turns into a huge waterfall. Comparable to chapman falls if not bigger. If you park opposite the small waterfall on the side rd you can hop the fence and follow the path. You will see the waterfall that goes from the reservoir then under the rd. It is a beautiful waterfall. Contact me directly if you want better directions.

Nice views. Another good place to visit and view is Dennis Hill State Park and Haystack Mountain State Park in Norfolk,Ct. Dennis Hill has some spectacular views and you can drive all the way up to the top where there is a old stone house that you can rent for events. Haystack Mountain has a trail that leads up to the tower there where you have to climb some stairs inside it but well worth it for the 360 degree views it has.

Laura’s Tower is named after Laura Ingersoll, the daughter of Charles Ingersoll, who was a prominent figure in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, during the 19th century. The tower and the trail were named in her honor, reflecting the local history and the contributions of the Ingersoll family to the area.

Hello! I know this video is old but what is the falls 2:35 called?
@MikeGetsLost
@MikeGetsLost 2 месяца назад
I’m not entirely sure it has a specific name, the single fall I climb down to is kinsman falls, and there’s one I didn’t hike too above it that requires a Brook crossing. But all you do is follow the trail up the mountain above the basin and the whole way up you can hike along side these falls until you get to the sign for kinsman

Which trail is easier to do? The trail on the left or to the right?
@MikeGetsLost
@MikeGetsLost 4 месяца назад
So it’s faster if you take an immediate right at the start. But that leads to the very steep stairs which are strenuous. If you go straight it’s a longer hike but much more gradual and you can either come back or take the stairs down.m for the full loop. If you go straight you’ll quickly come to a trail to your left which leads to the bald mountain peak, it’s short but requires scrambling up rocks and is totally optional

Thanks for carrying me along to re-live this hike that I have made many times in my life (my parents ran the concession stands that were still active in the Upper and Lower park back in the late 1940's and early 1950's, so as such this has always been my favorite park to visit). Btw, as your gps said, it is pronounced "tree-man", although it was still "Enfield Glen State Park" in my parent's time, and we still have some leftover souvenirs from that era. From my old man perspective, for those folks not up to such a rigorous hike (or recovering from a heart attack as I had last month), definately drive between the two sections of the park and walk the shorter trails to & from the respective waterfalls. The best of the Upper park can be seen by hiking the trail through the grotto down to Lucifer Falls and turning back at the sharp left turn where you were at 5:45 . For those folks appreciative of antiquities, be sure to visit "The Old Mill" at the upper park entrance. They have interpretive signs showing how the grain was hoisted to the top floor and gravity feed down each level to arrive as flour at the bottom floor. For those folks who love a challenge: On one of my hikes following your route during the early '80s, I was as passed on the way up by a couple of young ladies that were jogging, and when I found them resting on the bridge at the transition to the return ridge trail, they told me they routinely averaged twenty minutes from Lower Park to Upper Park, ten minutes rest, then twenty minutes back down the ridge trail to the Lower park for a total "short workout" of about an hour!!!

The first time I watched this video it gave me anxiety lol! I'm doing the Giant Master Program, and this is the one part of the blue trail that makes me nervous. I hiked that part (above the quarry) once many many years ago, so I know I can do it again. Like everything else, it's just one step at a time. Thanks for giving me a great visual!

I just did this trail yesterday! Your videos are excellent, and I often use them as a reference for what to expect. Not sure I would’ve spotted that rattlesnake 😳 With so much rock on the trails I’m looking down much of the time and probably not looking around as much as I should be! Thanks again for another great video.

Turns out it was just an eastern black rat snake. Apparently they can shake their tails in piles of leaves fast enough to scare animals into thinking they’re rattlers. Even humans haha

Get out to Moose Hill farm sanctuary trail system in Sharon Massachusetts. Awesome trail system. It's where I get a majority of my training runs, outside of Wolf Hill in Smithfield Rhode Island and Big River management area in Greenwich Rhode Island. If you decide to do Wolf Hill Nature preserve, stop by Depetrillos Italian bakery after your hike and grab some Sicilian style party squares with Parmigiano sprinkled on top. They also make freh calories and desserts.
