Cambridge Community Television is a nationally recognized community media center that is the voice and vision of all residents, businesses and organizations in the city. CCTV provides tools and training to foster free speech and creative expression, and involves people from across the city as producers and viewers of media that is informative, engaging, and as diverse as the Cambridge community.
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen: This is an horrible performance. My goodness. The female soloists were weak and lost. The choir sounded like a Junior High School choir, especially the women’s voices. Their vowels were brash and their sound unfocused in the mask. The Baritone soloist was flat on crucial notes. The tenor soloist sang in an embarrassingly wispy falsetto that could just barely be heard. The strings could not play trills. Many trills were simply skipped. It is a wonder the whole State of Massachusetts did not immediately renounce Judaism and convert to Christianity after this performance out of sheer embarrassment. Have a Dovely. Extremely interesting and useful! I would just add that this is the feminine dimension of what seems to be a wider, deeper, issue which is age, both for women and men. A male account would be interesting so to compare the two paths and how toguether they complete the puzzle of age, relevancy and employment. Thank you for sharing. Before AIDS I spent a week in a gay commune in Harrison. No one I met was homophobic but literally everyone told me that any blacks seen in town after dark were routinely shot to death. The ones killed usually had suffered a car breakdown and were stuck. I visited friends there sometime later, and they are comfortable with gays but can not tolerate people of differing colors.
I am from Harrison, Arkansas and it is a wretched little town full of terrible people, most of whom are more concerned with how they look than how they act. I barely survived being raised there, and I know others who did NOT survive their youth there. Even those on the "left" in Harrison (few in numbers!) fail miserably in carrying any sort of justice or liberation in anything they say or do. They are very racist, very sexist, very all the things you wish they weren't. My family on both sides moved to Harrison and I have no doubt in my mind it's because they felt their RACIST views were accepted there and they would be able to hide their abuses more easily because for some reason when you're a racist you're also just generally a horrible person. People in Harrison do not feel comfortable identifying and denouncing white supremacy, they very much want things to continue on as normal. They want you to leave Harrison alone and stop talking about the things that happen there. They do NOT want to help you fight any prejudice or racism. They are a town full of explicit and complicit white supremacists.
What an interesting, impressive, but rather disturbing discussion - disturbing in that it makes me aware of how our society is regressing rather than progressing. The panelist, Matthew Martin, is extremely knowledgeable about US history and politics. I learned so much from his comments as well as the comments of the other panelists. Thank you for expanding my limited knowledge in this area.
About a billion years ago, I volunteered at the old computer lab, and I also had a couple of art shows in the Drive-By Gallery. Looks like your facility has come a long way since then! 😺
