I wish I would have watched your video b4 I tired this. I just yanked the seat tile handle off and broke it; didn't know about the little clip. Got a new handle from amazon for $10. Got a new seat switch from 1A for about $50 and put it in, and the seat still won't move fore and aft. Tilt and raise/lower work fine. I hate to take it to a dealer for repair, but I can't find a video on RU-vid that shows how to replace the fore/aft motor. Prolly not a fuse bcuz the tilt and trim still works. Any experience with replacing a seat motor???
Never have messed with the motor. What happens if you take the new switch and put it on the opposite seat assuming you have power on both sides. Does the switch work? Could be faulty or maybe something stuck along the rails keeping it from moving. Just a couple thoughts.
The switch on my passenger seat finally became inoperable. The contacts became too weak. I found a replacement online for about $20. Quick search on Amazon will get you what you need. If you have any questions feel free to let me know.
Great video! You were spot on! I was actually able to do everything without removing the recliner handle. Just pulled the plastic back and was able to get switch out and take it apart. Watched 20 videos before this one. This worked great!
Thank you for getting back to me I watched how the guys from the seat shop use a shop rag so I tried that and it worked with a heavy tug.Sad thing is I open my new part to put on and it’s not the right one and have a great day
Thank you so much for your video I have watched two or three and yours is very precise but I’m having a problem I am a senior lady that does everything herself she possibly can and have all my life. I’m just hoping I don’t have to wait long for a reply from you since your video was put on some time back, but I cannot get my lumbar knob off I even wrapped a silicone glove around my straight screwdriver and try to pry it off in two or three positions but it won’t come off any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I was doing great until I had my oil change three weeks ago and I told him not to put my seat back but they never listen therefore I’m 5 foot two trying to reach the gas pedal of someone at least 5 foot eight.
Great video.. For my 2014 yukon Driver seat forward and backward not moving but I can heard the motor it just doesn’t move. Passenger seat the recliner stuck all the way down. And I can hear the motor too.. Any tips.?
If you can hear the motor, can you look to see if anything is possibly stuck along the rail keeping it from moving past? My buttons when pushed never made a noise. That’s when I decided to pull the cover off and check the contacts. If you’re hearing it, I suspect something is blocking the movement.
@@JO-hz7sc hey body. Yes. Both seats , the passenger seat the recliner was all the way down, it was the control, I took it a part all, inside the Lil mini lever for the recliner there is an other button actually.. everything was so sticky like they had some soda spilled. Took it off clean and WD-40 the whole control and the mechanism. The drivers seat no back or forward, in the bottom has two bow screws, they both turn when you push the button back and forward and that ll make the seat move, those two screws had a lot of female hair, I clean those two screen, and the rails to. I WD-40 the whole mechanism as well.. job done.! 🙏
@@drummershirl does your manual lever still work? As for the electric switch, pop it out and slide it forward and back up and down without the plastic cover. You can test with the passenger side switch as well. See if the problem follows the switch. Likely just loose or dirty contacts.
I made this video a couple years ago. Just saw a notification on your comment. You’re right. It was not an easy fix. I couldn’t find anything helpful on the internet to help me either. I could probably do it with my eyes closed now but it took me quite a while to figure it out.
@@JO-hz7sc Those handles are like the old window cranks. You can actually put the clip onto the handle and push the handle onto the splined shaft. It clicks right on.
You can pop the clip on the handle before installing it for the seat back recline. Makes life way easier. Then just pop the handle on. Also thanks for the video J O.
solodolo the method that’s used to secure the handle is the same way GM has been using to secure (attach) manual window crank handles for many many............many years.
@@JO-hz7sc It's been mentioned elsewhere, but all you do is put that clip back in the handle first. Then you put the handle back over the splined shaft and push. The clip clicks into the groove. GM has done this with handles like this, window cranks, etc, since at least 1940.
I have the same problem. It’s not the contacts, it’s the plastic cover. I took it apart like you did and it worked fine, put the cover back on and it quit. Monkeyed with the cover and start d working again.
