BIG spoilers: I just had a (possibly false) epiphany. What if popola and devola are just names they adopted, since they are androids and likely went by another codename, like POPulation DEVelopment (POPola and DEVola) since they manage the replicant life cycles in trying to bide time for human civilization once the shade issue is dealt with and they may reunite (the shades) with their replicant counterparts.
This track has a very nostalgic tone to it; a very bittersweet nostalgia. Like what other comments said, this is what reflecting upon the passage of time would sound like. All of the good and pleasant times, and even those times that aren't so pleasant and nice. All gone by without you in your present moment. It was too bad that of what versions of this track I listened to in the official soundtrack, they don't include an instrumental section of this... But I'm glad you went out of your way to record it and share it with all of us.
I played Automata first, so the first time I heard a form this version was when A2 visited the library in the tower. I sat around for a few hours mesmerized, just listening to the music and thinking about the meaning of the library in the lore. Replicant greatly deepened my love for SOTA, in all its forms, and recorded this because it wasn't on the OST. So glad you all have enjoyed listening!
@@meisfaves9746 Oh! I don't know why it didn't occur to me lol Thank you. I played Automata first and I'm playing through Replicant right now and that library part in Automata is starting to have a whole different meaning for me now.
Love this song. To me it portrays "the passage of time" and everything thats happened up to that point, which if youre familar, is alot when it comes to Gestalt, the replicants and humanity.
This song had me coming back for more dialogue or sometimes just listening to this exact theme. the main characters with the theme devola and popola and even sometimes yonah these factors alone had me motivated even when i got sent in a useless side quest hearing this theme alone was the best repayment I thought this song with words alone was powerful this proved to contract myself and nevertheless It turned out for the better Besides nier this song has been used to make me relax and associate the nice memories towards this game and the beauty of nier as well it’s been resourceful for studies like without this song I wouldn’t be in peace too it’s so good and makes me want to play the game more often
I LOVE this version, while the original version (with lyrics) really does nothing for me. Too bad this one isn't on the official soundtrack. Also, anyone else notice there is a very distinct 'police siren-like' sound constantly in here? I listened to this with headphones on and thought there was a police car outside lol. Ever since then I can't unhear it.
The beginning song “Histore” from FF16 sounded so familiar and I knew it was Nier but couldn’t for the life of me figure out which song it was until I tracked this down. Thanks!
Never played the original Nier and Nier Replicant, I finished Automata first, at first I found weird the difference between Automata and Replicabt but once I heard this soundtrack I instantly fell in love with how magical it sounded and what once felt like there was no clear connection between the two games, you see it clearly the more you play, it is actually amazing how well connected they are
