I think monogamy is an idea from both sexes and only because how culture was patriarchal, men who wanted to sleep about, slept about either without punishment or with less punishment. Also it seems as monogamy is a social norm rather than natural drive. The same way as simply taking what we'd need is more natural than buying/trading for it, but a social norm is different.

Male mammals don’t want monogamy, it is a loosing proposition for a male that need only contribute two cc of fluid to his offspring. Monogamy is a way of creating families that are of great benefit to children. It is a great and good thing that human males commit to monogamy to protect the female and the family. It is not in a male mammals nature or genetic interest to do so.
love Stephen Fry! It’s a goofy argument to compare designing a bomb to Auschwitz though, as though we shouldn’t blame either. First of all, I DO believe there is responsibility for designing the bomb. And for Auschwicz too, it was built by the slave labor of prisoners, so indeed we can blame the people who ordered its construction, and if they knew what was being built, we can blame the designers too. And considering the number of people being housed and the gas chambers being built, there is no question they were given specific feautures to include in the design - yes, they deserve blame.

I know people hated Chevy and he was and is a horrible person but it all ties in so well with being Pierce so it kind of works in building this lore about Pierce as well. It just amps up his energy as Pierce. And also being an a-hole in every movie and show he's ever done feels a bit like it might be a life-long bit as a comedian. Like maybe he's actually a good guy with his closest family and friends and for his characters he gets into character as an a-hole and stays in character. He could also just naturally be an a-hole but it would be funny if it was just a bit.
I don’t think that’s true at all. Monogamy is for the children and a healthy loving relationship. The princes and high status males that aren’t monogamous are immature men drunk on power with no self control. Mature masculinity is rooted in discipline, accountability and taking care of one’s family with full commitment to them. Not having a side piece because you can.
If you normalize polygamy what you get is a tiny amount of men scooping up all of the women who are even remotely desirable, leaving most men with no one or at best the bottom of the barrel women. This breeds resentment in the male population and ultimately a pendulum swing into an ultra-pro-right wing oppressive regime.
