Hi there. I installed the same kit a week ago. I have one problem. The big block that’s in the center plate is not tight against the plate. It is freely moving and making noise everytime i hit a bump. Do you have the same problem?
Hi, come to think of it when I do hit bigger bumps with the hitch in I do hear a sound, but I don’t know if that’s the hitch moving around the receiver or if that’s what you’re talking about. I only hear it when I have the hitch in there so I’m thinking that’s what it is.
I just unplugged the green male plug and left the black female part in there. That’s what I can recall and from what I did in the video. It’s been about a year since the job so sorry if I don’t remember everything exactly 😂
@@ferny1479 I would probably advise not getting higher milage but I don’t think it really matters. My car had 44k miles and the used valve body I put in had around 100k and it’s been around a year since I did it and still no issues with the new owner!
Since the remanufactured one did not work, I ended up buying a used one off of my brother that had a parts G 37. I’m not 100% sure where else to find them but maybe call around some junkyards and see if they have it. Good luck!
Yes, I know they recommend some thing thinner, but due to a rattle, I am trying to put something thicker. Also I’ve been using the same oil for a while and it has been perfectly fine for me!
@@tru_qs I’ve seen other people have the same thing. One thing could be the gear selector thing in the wrong position. Other wise I’m not completely sure but if you look on forums and I believe in these comments some people have the same issue!
So unfortunately to check is by opening it back up. When changing the valve body on the pass side of the car, there’s a grey thing that pulls out and in that should line up and go into a slot on the tranny. It’s kind of hard to explain lol
I didn’t have that happen to me so I don’t want to give you the wrong information, but, I know that is how the select thing works and has to be in the slot. I almost put mine together before double checking and the grey thing wasn’t in the slot so I had to get it in there
I see a lot of people asking about reprogramming the TCM when it is installed- the answer is No. I just replaced mine in my 2016 Q50 with the 3.0t. I bought a new TCM/valve body from Infinity for $2200. The reason I didn't buy a refurbished one off EBay or Amazon was because they all said the country of manufacture is China. Also, if you look at the sellers reviews, most were full of complaints from unhappy people. I did the work myself pretty much how the guy in this video did it. I bought a bunch of cheap hand tools from Harbor Freight and then rented a jack and jack stands from ACE. But here's the thing, ACE charges a daily rental fee, but if you rent on a Friday and return on Monday, it is only a one day rental charge which is good. It took me all weekend to do it because I followed each step precisely that I got off a Q50 forum. I filled mine a little differently. On the passenger side of the transmission is a filler hole that is capped off. It is where the dipstick would go on most cars. So I filled it through there and took off that little plug on the pan and waited for fluid to drip out of there when it was full. I put the plugs back in and started the car for a minute and shut it off. I then checked and added more fluid the same way. But here is the thing, even though it doesn't need to be programmed, it still has to go through a learning curve. It shifts all funky until it is driven awhile. I had to slowly accelerate and decelerate until the shifting got itself figured out. After about a day it was like a new transmission
@@markzinchuk Sure. No problem. I got a lot of my information off Q50 forums. So I had a code for P0720 and so I changed the speed sensor. That took me a long time because I had to pull the exhaust and the back of the transmission to change it. It was 115° outside all weekend (I live in Nevada). After all that it didn’t fix it. I was so bummed. I joined some Q50 forums and saw how many people had that same problem and they replaced their TCM. One guy uploaded the factory Infinity transmission manual. So I printed that to learn how to replace the valve body. So that was cool to have. But it takes me way longer than most people because I follow each step to a tee. But I think anyone can do it themselves. There is no reason to pay a dealer to do it.
@@TrinityParaziader Yeah I definitely agree I had to do mine twice since the reman in the video didn’t work but I swapped in the used one and it worked. I did it with 2 jack stands in my driveway. Wasn’t too fun, but definitely through some determination possible! Dealerships definitely is too expensive. Doing it yourself is part of the experience too lol!
@@TrinityParaziader @TrinityParaziador glad to hear you didn't have to reprogram, when you purchased did you have to provide infiniti with your VIN? I heard they may program it for you with that when you do, but no sure how true that is Also how many miles is your 3.0 and how much was the rental in total? I have 2 Jack stands but not sure if I needed 4
@@l3gacy430 Okay yes I did have to give them my VIN to buy it from Infinity but they had it in stock. I know that no one programmed it because everything was sealed as tight as a drum. The parts guy went to the back and pulled it off the shelf and handed it to me. Its wrapped in cloth, and sealed inside two bags and then packed into a box. So the jack and jackstand rental was $75 a day. But here’s the thing, if you rent them on a Friday and return them on Monday it is only a one day rental. That’s the way to go. My car has 47,800 miles on it. So that seems early for the TCM to go out but the way I see it, the car is paid for. Its 8 years old and that’s the only thing that has gone wrong. It’s cheaper than a monthly car payment so that makes it easier for me to justify spending that kind of money to fix it
Yes, from my experience, the rein Irbid ones on eBay needs to be programmed. I bought mine already used off of another random G37 at a junkyard with the same transmission as mine. And after that it worked for me without any programming!
Lights are fairly easy. You need the powered unit. I added a fuse tap to the luggage fuse box for 12v switched power and ran it to the left tail light compartment. On the unit you connect the power to your 12v, as well as the brown marker lights (technically this should be controlled by your headlights but I just left them always on). Ground goes to a vehicle ground, as well as your red brake wire. We don’t have a separate brake light, turn signals and brake are the same. Yellow wire goes to your left brake light. Mine was an orangish pinkish wire. Green wire goes to your right brake light, same color. You could run the trailer plug down to your hitch, I just leave mine coiled up inside the compartment until I need it, and gently close the tailgate. It doesn’t seem to pinch the wire.
I looked on the Internet and found how much I was supposed to put in. The trick I learned which in the video I said, I didn’t understand, is that the car has to be level and you have to pump it with fluid and then run it to warm shifts to the gears, and then pump it more until once you take the pump out you’ll see the slight stream. If it’s flowing out a lot , then it might be too much, and if a bunch of bubbles, it might not be enough. A small stream should be enough, but I would look online and there are some great RU-vid videos on how to do exactly.
I’m glad to hear that it has helped you! Yeah, doing the job yourself can be a pain, but can save you some good money in the end! I’m honestly not sure about that, sorry.
Yes, you are correct. If you get a refurbished one you would also have to get that programmed. I did the same with mine, and put a remanufactured one in there and it didn’t fix my issue and I had to program but I didn’t know that at the time. But, I ended up putting a used one in there from another g37 with my same transmission and put it in there and fixed my problem without any reprogramming necessary. It’s way cheaper and worked!
@JaredAlston-on7lo I honestly do not know the answer to that one. At least for me, I called around and there are certain shops and places that do reprogramming, but I didn’t end up going with it so I’m not sure how much they charge.
Hey guys! I just wanted to follow up after the video and say that putting in the remanufactured valve body did not work, and it would need programming. What I ended up doing is taking a valve body off of another G37 that is used and put it in and it fixed my issue without any programming necessary!
Hey so I have a 06 g35 sedan and I just bought the same transmission and the same model and trim the 5 speed automatic for like 130 off a dude it got 140,000 miles on it instead of replacing the whole transmission I just want to replace the valve body because I got the front brake solenoid code so if I take the one out the new transmission I got and put it in my car will it work and wouldn’t need programming
Hey, from my experience, I was able to take a used valve body off of another G37 with the same trim and transmission as mine and it fixed my issue without any programming . I would think that it would work for you as well. I don’t want to mislead you or say something for sure, I just want to tell you from my experience that it did work, so I guess take it as you see fit!
Hey, in the video I put in the remanufactured one and that one would need a reprogram. What I ended up doing was putting in a used one from another g37 with the same transmission, I have I swapped it in and fix the issue perfectly without any reprogramming
Like for example, some of the old G37 have the 5 speed auto, and that will not work. What you need to do is get one with the same exact transmission. Like I have the 7 speed auto and I took it off of an older 7 speed auto, G37
I just screwed them down, pretty snug. I know there’s a certain torque to them, but I just snugged them down pretty tight, making sure to not do too much.
Hey, if I 100% honest I’m not really sure. I would love to help but when I did mine, it was in park as well and came out of park as it normally would. I’ve seen other people have this issue, so maybe you can find forums or something that has the same thing. Sorry that I couldn’t help with this one.
Or they jus said forget it and sold it because I’m thinking it’s side I did not put the gear selector in the right place ima try that when I get bck to my car but I will surely let you kno because I learned off of your video.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 big ups to you
@@djandfam4868 Yeah, the people that had the same issue. I’m honestly not sure what happened with their situation because some of them did not get back to me. But what you just said is well I’ve seen before as well aware, maybe the gear selector was not put in the right spot or something. I’m glad I can help you with the video , thank you!!
So with the remanufactured one that I had in the video didn’t work. I think they do have to be programmed though. But an even cheaper option that I did after the video was bought a used valve body off of another g37, put it in and it fixed the issue without any programming or anything!
Yeah, it’s sad to see such a nice car with such an annoying issue lol. Too many people have this issue for them not to recall it at this point. But unfortunately nothing we can really do 😕
Hey, honestly, I’m not exactly sure with the new ones if you would need programming. Pretty sure you don’t but I’m not 100% sure on that. I actually ended up getting a used one from a junkyard for way cheaper and put it in and it worked perfectly without any programming or anything. That would save a lot of money as well.
@@jessearellano5664 I bought mine off of a friend who had a parts G37 but if you don’t know anyone that has one I would say look if someone is doing a part out or if any junkyards have them. I think that would be the best bet for the price.
you had me until you said you didn't understand the transmission fluid fill process then developed you're own method which probably added too much the fill hole is a self limiting fill hole/internal dipstick, it extends to just the right height inside the trans when level that the correct amount of fluid stays in an excess comes out, assuming you haven't somehow excessively drained the trans, the running of the vehicle for a moment then refilling is to ensure fluid has made it into every nook and cranny insuring the self limiting fill hole works as intended
Hi, yes at the time I was confused on the fill up process. After researching and watching other videos, I figured out the whole process and the steam and all that. I ended up putting too much in them took some out. Now I’m at the correct level! Thanks for the feedback!
With the remanufactured one you would need to get it reprogrammed because mine didn’t work after the video. I ended up buying a used one off of another g37 and didn’t need any calibration process or anything like that. So I ended up returning the manufactured one. In my opinion, I was strongly suggest just going with a used one.
It doesn’t have to be be same year, just same transmission like you said it has to be the 7AT. Mine came off of a 2010 g37 and I have a 2014 and it worked! It
Got a P0720 code in my ‘15 Q40 and won’t shift past 3rd gear. Bought an OEM valve body from Infiniti and installing it myself this Saturday. Wish me luck I’ll let you know how it goes.
@levilee6488 I ended up buying the used valve body for around $100 off of a friend. I did the replacement and fluid change and everything myself in the driveway lol. Not fun but saves money.
The remanufactured, one that you see in the video did not work. I just bought a used valve body off of another G37 and it fixed the issue without any programming or anything
my 370z started having an issue where it wouldn’t shift past 3rd gear and it doesn’t display the what gear it’s in, like 1st 2nd or 3rd. the car was used a lot in the manual mode. do you think the speed sensor is fried and need a new valve body or could it be that the headers are bolted on wrong and doesn’t have an o2 sensor
Hey, yeah I’ve heard of other people having the same issue. I only had the not shifting past 3rd gear issue but it did always display the gear up in the cluster. Unfortunately I’m not sure what that issue would be so I can’t really help w that but after putting in a used valve body in it fixed my issue with no problems!
Hey, yes, after fixing it the gear did show in the cluster. I did hear another issue of someone else is that they fixed it in the neutral gear and then it only starts in that gear and when you shut it off it has to be in the same gear. So maybe that could be an issue but about the thing where it’s not showing on the display, I honestly don’t have any idea, sorry man!
@@markzinchuk as of now I have a U1000 code and trans is acting really weird! lol I guess ima change out the valvebody or check the TCM for cracks in the contractors
@@IDKWHYIDOTHISSHIT yeah I didn’t get that code so I’m not 100% sure what I’d recommend. For me, it was giving me the PO 720, and the PO 500. These combined were giving me having to change the speed sensor that is connected to the valve body. After going to mechanic, they didn’t really do much, so I ended up doing it myself, putting in a used valve body, and it fixed my issue! Again, I’m not exactly sure what code you running and it goes towards, but at least for me, it worked! Hope I can help!
I wish you luck, man! If you’re trying to look at the speed sensor or something on the valve body for damage, I’m not really sure what you’re going to see, but maybe you know more than me and you know what you’re looking for lol. For the code you got, What was it saying on the code?
I’m having the same issue as you on my 2015 Infiniti Q50, AWD, Premium. Check engine light is on, throwing code P0720 “output shaft speed sensor”. I’ve seen another video of someone removing the tail section of the transmission to access the actual sensor. Seems like by changing the valve body that maybe the output speed sensor was not faulty on yours?
Hey! Yeah unfortunately we’re having this issue, but I hope I can help with this… when I had the issue, it was also throwing a PO720 code as well. I had the same output, speed sensor code as you. I put in the remanufactured valve from eBay, but that actually didn’t fix anything. What I ended up doing was finding another G37 that was used with around 100K miles, and put that valve body into mine. No reprogramming or anything needed, and it fixed the car perfectly!
Hey man, thank you! They are from Amazon or eBay. These specificly are Akkon lighting. But if you look up gtr style headlights for g37 coupe they’re all over the place and also have different options of housing.
Here’s a link to same exact ones just different brand from Amazon! www.amazon.com/ACANII-Switchback-Headlights-Sequential-2008-2015/dp/B07FNY7SNV/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?crid=1L9F04FZHGV4N&keywords=g37%2Bcoupe%2Bgtr%2Bheadlights&qid=1701320167&sprefix=g37%2Bcoupe%2Bgtr%2B%2Caps%2C120&sr=8-2&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.17d9e15d-4e43-4581-b373-0e5c1a776d5d&th=1&psc=1
Hey, yeah they do not have a dipstick so there is kind of a process of seeing if you have enough fluid. Basically, there is a drain plug, and then a fill plug on the bottom of the pan. What do you want to do is make sure the car is level and then you put about 3 or so quarts in and then run the car and shift through the gears and make sure it’s warm and then fill up as needed. It should be around 4 or 5 quarts full (I’d look online). When the car is warm, open the fill plug, and if there is no drain and just tiny drops that you need to add more, and if there is a very solid drain, then you might have a little much. You kind of want to get into a middle ground, where there’s a decent flow And you might see some bubbles. There are RU-vid videos on it if you want a better explanation. That’s what I did. Hope this helps!
You could but if you have the same issue and want to save some money, I would definitely recommend changing out the valve for a used one, because I ended up doing that, and it worked perfectly!
@BrokeBoiiSuave Yes, my car is a 2014 Q60, which is the same as the G37 coupe, and I got the valve body off of a 2010 G37 sedan. The big thing you have to look out for to make sure it is the same transmission as yours. For example, they made the G37 with a five speed in the older years, and then a seven speed a little bit later on. So if you find one with the same transmission as yours, it should definitely work!
Hey! Thank you, I really appreciate that! I got my parts from a number of places lol. I got some from different junkyards, and also from a friend that had a parts car
Hello, I see you commented on my video a couple days ago and as shown in the video, I swapped in a remanufactured valve body and that did not end up working. So, this past week, I found a parts car, another G37 with around 100 K miles, and put that valve body into mine. No coding a reprogramming needed to be done, and it fixed the issue! Shift smoothly and goes through all of the gears now! So basically just find a used one, and it will work, hope this helps!
Hey, that’s what I ended up doing but I put a remanufactured one in there and it didn’t work. But I’ve had people tell me that if you buy one from another G37 that is Used that I will work. I’m currently working on that now and recently bought a used valve body and hoping to get it done this week.
Hello, I see you commented a few days ago on my video and I said that I put in the remanufactured valve body as shown in the video. This week I ended up finding a parts car, another G 37 with around 100 K miles, took it out and swapped that valve entirely into mine. No reprogramming or coding needed to be done, and it fixed the issue! Shifts through all of the gears smoothly. basically if you find another valve body off of another one that works, and even being used, it works. Hope this helps!
All together at a dealership this is a 2500 job. I bought my q50 and the day i took it out the lot after about 30 mins the valve body shout out on me. Very lucky i had 1000 mile warranty and i just took the car out. Car took abt the week to get fixed but now everything is good. Maintenance is key with infinity, especially things like fluid, spark plugs, coils, rear diff fluid. Also OIL changes before 5k miles!!
