Giiirl, I’ve been battling between 2 and 3 stars for the first book, and I didn’t hate, but the second one simply made me give up on the series 🥲 thank you for the honest review 💕 I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way, the book is overrated 😢
Omg thank you 💕!!! I honestly thought I was crazy for how I felt because everyone was recommending it a a good read. It’s so frustrating when a book has so much potential but the execution is just not there. I think I’m dnf’ing the entire series too.
The Eye in the credits has two meanings. It foreshadows the villian of book/season 2 Polythemus, and it could be the main overarching villian(Lord of the Rings reference?)
This could actually be very possible, they’ve been sneaking in some stuff from the later books! I just thought of Kronos since he’s been keeping tabs on the gods and kids from the “sidelines”
Omg I totally forgot that show existed 🫣 I watched the first season when it first came out but haven’t watched it since. I actually just bought the first book so I might read it then maybe react to the show?? Maybe 😅
There is a 9th book called Happily Ever After which is a second epilogue to each story that was at one time only available online. It seems to be included with each of the audio books. Definitely read an Offer from a Gentlemen, by far the best story, especially if you love Benedict!!!!
I am convinced Marcus (love interest for Violet) is actually the love child of Lady Danbury and Lord Ledger, making him Violet's 1/2 brother! Lady Danbury will have to come clean about the affair 😮
They’re both adults so that doesn’t bother me ☺️ plus age gaps aren’t often represented in media when it’s the women that’s older so that would make it even cool!
Francesca is the 6th child of the Bridgerton children... can't wait to get to know this character - Penelope, I want to see her blossom, see her win!! Violet Bridgerton having maybe a love interest is so exciting, she deserves love! So much to look into with season 3. Colin is FOINE!
Omg thanks for commenting!! 💕 I totally forgot about the youngest brother. I remember him and Francesca bickering in s1. I also want Penelope to grow into herself, finally get out of her family’s shadow! And the glow up for the cast is insane! I’m so excited ‼️💕💕
@@merely_lelaNo the last brother Gregory was bickering with hyacinthe the last child born after their fathers death. They are eight child. Each name in alphabetical order of birth : Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphné, Éloïse, Francesca, Grégory and Hyacinthe. Francesca was barely here or in visit somewhere so you probably didn't notice her.
Okay that clears things up so much because I was wondering why she ( Hyacinth ) looked so much more older 🙃. I don’t remember Francesca in the first season nor in the second which is why I thought the actress for this role was an older version of Hyacinth. I honestly have the memory of a goldfish 🤦🏾♀️
😊 it always blows me away that people never seem to notice what's the name is scheme after watching two seasons ❤ I've also heard people refer to the first set of brothers as "the ABC bros"
I remember pre-covid I was bored at the office so I started reading my book and I got CALLED OUT by the boss.. 😳 he did not like me not looking busy when there was nothing to do 😭
I swear employers see their employees as nothing but robots sometimes smh. I rarely get to sit and read like this when I’m on the floor at work. But on the days I don’t take full advantage of it 😩
It’s never too late to get into PJ. Have you read the Kane Chronicles the same author? They were in talks with Netflix to have it adapted into a movie but I think that feel through. It’s still a great middle grade read though!
@@Mariamox PJ universe is quite extensive! Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is connected to the Heroes of Olympus series as well as The Trials of Apollo, Magnus Chase, and there’s even a PJ crossover with Kane Chronicles even though they cover different myths!
The gods with their demigod children: 0:12 “they don’t know me, but I’m their mother” I feel like no one’s been talking enough about Walkers acting during the Minotaur scene, 31:35 when you can see he is terrified, angry, and but forces himself to get up and fight, so impressive for such a young actor
You’re absolutely right! That scene was truly fantastic! There were quite a few notable acting moments from him and Sally this episode. The speech he gave to Mr.D about Sally was one of my favorites. The way he said “MY MOTHER” was very powerful ❤️💕💕. Thanks for watching!
I totally get it. My layout is a little different. Plus my channel is pretty small so I don’t want to chance it with copyright strike/blocks. I can explore different layouts as I get more experience but for now this will have to do. Sorry 😞
The trailer really seems to be going for book accuracy. I hope it delievers. I just re-read the first book again, so, There aren't any real flashbacks, but it's implied that Percy and his mom have talked about mythology at least in referance to his name. I don't remember if it's actually said, or if Percy is remembering the line in the book but it's basically what TV mom says in the beginning of the trailer. I figure they're giving some of Chiron's myth exposition to Sally so we get more bonding time between her and Percy. The lighting feels a little weird, but I think the sand shot might be Grover almost getting pulled into Tartarus. That's got to be Blackjack. He shows up in the second book but isn't a named character til later. The three headed dog is Cerberus Hermes doesn't appear in the first book, but, according to casting lists, Miranda is playing him. There are no gods in the casino in the book, Percy just sort of snaps out of it. Hermes' roll as the god of travellers, and his relation to the overall story also make sense to place him here, and they probably get to save on expostion later by introducing him here. I wonder if we'll get Nico and Bianca cameos. The chimera at the end, looks a little funky to me. It's not the traditional design (most are based after the Chimera of Arezzo statue). This one appears to be based on a lioness rather than a lion, which is interesting since the chimera in mythology is female (still has the mane) but male in the books. It's design choice throughs me off a bit, but it still looks good at least.
Omg thanks for this! You def clarified some things. I just started The Lightning Thief today for my reread and I’ll agree, the show seems to be heavily influenced by books. Not just with the storyline but over all aesthetic and tone! I’m really happy with it so far. Nico is my top three PJ character so I’d be so happy if we saw a very short clip of Nico and Bianca. Even a reference to them would be awesome. I feel like Bianca didn’t get enough book time before she passed so this show can possibly redeem that??? I haven’t heard any gossip on their casting on insta so idk if we’ll get any of that to be honest. The Chimera definitely threw off. I couldn’t place it for the life of me until someone mentioned it in the comments earlier smh. I can’t wait for BlackJack omg and I’m glad they’re involving Hermes to the story early on. He and his some are such a trivial point to the first five books. It only makes sense. Thanks again for watching! I truly love talking about the PJ universe with like minded people! 💕💕
Yea we’ve waited a long time and they already have effed up like half the characters completely such as Annabeth by totally altering her entire nationality completely and her eye color and hair color. As long as that is still a thing I’m not a fan whatsoever. To me making a change that big on Annabeth is like choosing to make Percy a female instead or something. It’s just bizarre to me. There was no need at all to do a total racial swap on a character whose legit one of thee main characters of the entire book series. I get some can overlook this but I feel a vast majority are like me and kinda like nah man it’s just to odd. Feels like they forced it in to simply be like yea we allow black people into our movies too. That’s just what it feels like to me. Other then that what was the point? They definitely could have found someone who looked like how Annabeth is meant to look. Rick just chose not to do so. I don’t understand why lately people feel the need to racial swap characters. Leave characters how there meant to be. I would say the same thing for any character as how they were. Like if they made a live action Princess and the frog and made Tiana white I would say the same thing cause she is meant to be black. Or if they made Jasmine from Aladdin like Chinese or some crap or Mulan Muslim. My point is it just doesn’t make sense lol. This isn’t any different. Annabeth was meant to be a tanned skinned Californian girl with grey eyes and blonde hair in a ponytail. Tanned skin is not black. It’s skin that is tanned lol. There most definitely talking about a white girl with tanned skinned. Plus maybe it’s just me but it’s kinda rare to see a blonde black girl unless it’s like dyed. Not that it’s impossible but I mean it’s pretty unlikely. Hell even the illustrated variations of the books which were all approved and everything show Annabeth officially as a white girl with blonde hair and grey eyes. Like again, why do we need forced racial swapping?
Everyone has their opinions on it so I get what you’re saying, though I totally disagree disagree with you. Annabeth’s story is not about the color of her hair nor the color of her skin. Her story is about how she feels underestimated, and abandoned. Ignored by her mother, abandoned by her father. And unlike Luke or Percy or Thalia, she’s not knowing for her any superpower or fighting skills. What she has instead is her wisdom and her ambition. She’s constantly working hard to prove to other of her worth. This is why I and many others have thought Annabeth should have been Black from the start. Can you imagine how cool it would have been to have a LEADING main character like her represent an often times overlooked group of people in American media? Especially during the early 2000’s? Rick himself has come out and defended this casting multiple times. He has said this shows is the perfect representation of what he wanted. He’s has written the screen play. Was personally involved in casting and many other aspects of this series. I’m sorry you feel this way. But to people like me, this is a big deal and very much appreciated. I’m personally super excited! 💕
I'm just going to point out that in the source material of The Princess and the Frog - The Frog Prince by the Brothers Grimm - the princess is most likely white, as it came from German folklore.
The Princesses and the Frog was loosely based on a novel called The Frog Princess by E. D. Baker and from some German show. Its origins are definitely white not black from my understanding.
In the books Percy had black hair and was sassy so I related to him. In this Disney+ series, Percy will have blonde hair and will still be sassy 💁♂️. I understand being disappointed by not getting your ideal image of Annabeth but her story and persona transcend her phenotypes (the genes that make up hair skin color etc).
I love your review on this. I’m so so excited for December . But also you remember pretty much everything accurately in the book! Thank you for this video 🙏🏽
It's been a while since I've read Lightning Thief but wasn't Percy claimed and a camp dinner? I'm going to read it again but after I watch season one! I'm very cautiously optimistic about this but I will be watching immediately!
Hi K Smith!!! It’s been a while since I reread it but I think Percy gets claimed during capture the flag. He gets attacked by a hellhound and then I think Annabeth tells him to get into the stream of water he was next to. When he stepped in, the water ended up healing his wounds and a symbol of Poseidon’s trident appeared above his head. I’m so excited for you to read it again! I think these books will honestly stand the test of time. I find that a lot of books I reread from my childhood tend to be a bit cringy but not these ones. Please come back and let me know how you enjoyed the show when it comes out! I’d love you hear your input.💕💕⚡️
Yes it’s during capture the flag when Percy gets claimed. I think it’s like right after he basically proved himself. The campfire incident was Hades I believe. I also think Tyson was claimed during a campfire dinner…I think. I can’t remember so maybe that’s what he is remembering. And that obviously was the second book.
@@k1988smithyah I believe that Tyson was claimed by Poseidon at a dinner but I haven’t read them in a long time going to buy and reread them all, and go into Heroes of Olympus for the first time
Your reaction is my recommendations thing, honestly I had the same reaction. So excited, December can’t come soon enough. Everyone looks amazing! Side note just wanted to say your really pretty!
Here’s the recipe if y’all are interested: Recipe: I brewed this coffee using Seattle’s Best Coffee Henry’s Blend Dark Roast Ground Coffee I used about 4 tablespoons of it with about 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. I was able to brew about 8 cups of coffee out of it. I then let it cool down in the fridge. Once cool, you can poor the coffee into a cup with some ice. Then add a little bit of creamer (you can use whatever for this, I personally love Starbucks’ Caramel creamer).
You made a great point and put into words what I’d been feeling about the live actions: Halle’s The Little Mermaid had the Disney magic and it’s what set it apart from the others (along with her great voice, stunning beauty, and effervescent charisma). Thanks for that! 🫶
I’m so glad others are feeling the same way! The movie did a fanatic job at capturing the magical essence of a Disney, princess movie. It makes me giddy and happy every time the opening sequence starts ♥️ 🧜🏾♀️
@@merely_lela I didn't hear that at all. It was really a pleasure to listen to your review. You should even consider taking some voice lessons. I think you could make money with a voice like yours. I hope you look into it ☺
Feeling the same way!! I've been reading just when I have the time to and if I start something and don't like it then I instantly put it down. I'm leaning hard into mood reading 😂
I’m so sorry things have been rough! I’m glad you are trying to not be too hard on yourself. Do you have a childhood favorite that you could reread as a reset?
@@merely_lela You have no reason to, you're beautiful no matter what you look like! Your skills are incredible and I'd trust you with my makeup any day of the week!
