It looks like "Gladiator II" is going to tie up most of the IMAX( or in this case IMAXIMUS) screens for at least for the first two weeks. I plan on seeing both movies opening weekend (Wickedator). I will see "Gladiator II" in IMAX and "Wicked" in 3D(if its available) at the new Cinepolis theaters here in Los Angeles near SoFi Stadium.
Should I watch The Wizard of Oz before this movie? I’m so interested in Wicked but I wonder if I need to read/watch some things before going to the theater
Gosh you guys are embarrassing. That’s why I don’t make videos cause that would be me x 10. But some parts weren’t so cringey! Can’t wait for the movie!!!
I hate the convo at 21:00 I wish it wasn’t a political statement relating to racism. This conversation always comes up when someone black is casted as Elphaba. I personally thought it was just them celebrating her being dead or like satisfying her spirit so it doesn’t return. (Which is a few purposes of burning effigies) I wish it was just because they hate the witch and not the political parallel of black trauma. Would this have been the same meaning if a white woman was casted as Elphaba? I thought we discussed this same issue when it comes to Wicked the Musical
I'm a MAJOR Oz fan, Wicked included. I mean, I literally did a research paper for a college class about the world of Oz where I talked about The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and Wicked (I might turn that into a video one day). So as you could tell, I am absolutely relieved that this movie was a home-run based on what you guys said. I honestly trust your judgement. I have my own concerns with the film, which I did a whole video about and will link down below. But you guys definitely made me much less concerned and super excited. I'm excited for Ariana Grande's performance but I was skeptical, due to her acting in the past not being very cinematic but guys have that fear fading away. Cynthia will definitely be phenomenal. And in case you're interested, I also did a video where I did my own fan-cast for a film adaptation of The Wiz (One that's actually good, unlike Diana Ross' vanity project), which I'll link below as well. Thank you both for making my fears fade away, though I will always love the 1939 film the best because it's my favorite movie. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1wSvA3s8usU.htmlsi=AH-rUPqAzgEoNXt- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ju82xGkqatc.htmlsi=Y8lfdc-Xr7kdJIl7
the songs featured in the new "tickets now available" trailer sounds a bit off/ a note lower compared to the original songs from the play. Does it sound the same in the movie?
Wow, high praise from you two!! "Cure for depression" lol. Sounds like, much like The 1939 Wizard of Oz film was a healing spectacle for a society recovering from the poverty of "The Depression era", the Wicked film adaption will be a healing spectacle for a society still recovering from the financial and emotional impact of the pandemic (some of us, yes, with depression lol).
I’m positive the tech crew is like, OMG we have to tell stage management to open the curtain. Wicked broadway staff if you have footage of reopening night we would love to see it. Take care.
Ok! As Oz historians - I know this isn’t until part 2. But as an Oz purist I have *hated* the origin stories of the Tin Man and Scarecrow SO much in the musical that it’s turned me off of the show. Obviously I’m still gonna watch these movies but I wonder what your thoughts are on that adaptation 😂
Here in Québec, even in Montréal I can't get advanced tix. ...but I'm being naughty and waiting for VIP Cineplex where you order food and drinks with fancy chairs. I need to be GLINDA for my first viewing
9:22 jk Rowling has never been transphobic. To quote her words, "it is not hate to speak the truth". This is a woman who not only survived a terrible abusive marriage, but also donated vast sums of her fortune to create the children's organisation "Lumos". She also chose to stand by Johnny Depp when others preferred to spit on his name. Self righteous fools like yourself are happily banging away on your keyboards and talking to your computer screens thinking you're some sort of "hero". Guess what, you're not. You're just a gutless coward who thinks it's okay to badmouth a woman who despite having always been progressive and a voice for minorities, doesn't share your politically correct views. In conclusion, I recommend you read jk Rowlings essay thoroughly. In no way does she belittle transgender people in any shape or form. As a humanist and a progressive person myself, I stand with her all the way. You meanwhile will eventually be forgotten and the world will still be spinning.
I wouldn’t trust the trailers versions. I believe they’ve been pitch-correcting songs to entirely new keys to create cohesive trailer music. The toy microphone that spoils Cynthia’s Defying Gravity feels a lot more real and raw than what we hear in trailers. I’d say reserve judgement for now.
I just want to know one thing. Is the "Cultish social gathering" line in the movie? Its my favorite line from the show. But its not on the soundtrack, so I thought they may cut it.
I love anything about oz . The regular wizard of oz movie was my first movie. Can wait to see wicked. Glad you had a good time at the screening of the film . I was Judy garland in a past life. I wanted Cynthia Erivo to play elphaba . And when I found out she was going to play her I was excited.
just wanted to pop in and say "joni grande" is not joan grande. joan doesn't use joni, she uses joan on all social media! joan also doesn't type like this person did.
BTW! Who's ready to visit Shiz at Universal Studios?!?!?! A little insider tip but this IS in the works, a "Land of Oz" based on Wicked at the theme park. Not just photo ops but street entertainers/food and drink/etc.
i love how the whole cast is so insanely talented! it sounds like jon m. chu and the leads have done justice for this loved musical. Im glad universal was not stingy on the budget for this film! it deserved everything and it looks like it has paid off. i have heard so many positive reviews among the people who attended the early screening ☺💚🩷 so so excited
They made it seem like they were invited to an exclusive early screening, but in reality, anyone could go if they just asked for tickets. It’s frustrating when they hype things up as exclusive when they’re not.
As soon as I saw the first trailer. I felt like my heart told me this is a special movie, and would be a movie I will deeply love and cherish. I can’t wait to watch this movie. I can’t believe we are almost close to watching this movie!!!! Wow
