Hi! I’m Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield.

You might know me from Transport Evolved (ru-vid.com) or you might have come across my music online. Or perhaps even come across my alter egos in the Steampunk or Furry world.

I've got several RU-vid channels, each focusing on a different part of my life, or a different part of my career. This channel however, is my soapbox. My vlog.

Politics, religion, environmentalism, science and cute fluffy animals (real or otherwise) are all here. Very little (apart from certain family members) is off limits.

This is My Brain Dump.

Be respectful, listen, think and engage. Healthy discussion allowed. Trolling will not be tolerated.

It seems like a rational concern to me. I want to live as long as most people do so I can see how All This (gestures broadly) turns out. I read a lot of science fiction as a kid and would love to see us make a good society across the world that allows everyone to live a peaceful and prosperous life.

Nikki: 55:05 Not sure if you'll be returning here looking at messages, but in case you do... During your soldering and desoldering efforts, it was taking a very long time to get the solder liquid. That's primarily because the tip you're using is too narrow. The heat that goes into a joint initially is from the heat energy stored in the tip. Some additional heat flows into the tip of course from the heater while your soldering effort is in progress, but... . If you use a tip that is very narrow, first of all it does not contain much heat to dump into the joint, so the temperature goes down precipitously. And the tip being narrow means it doesn't conduct heat very well as your effort is in progress. Looking at www.hakko.com/english/tip_selection/series_t18.html#type_d Shape T18-D24 Shape-2.4D is a better bet for what you were trying to do here. This is especially true when working on large capacitors, as they attach to large traces which also sink heat away.

Also, you mention temperature settings on the solder station, so let's hope it is actually a temperature-regulated iron -- that is it has temperature feedback. If instead it is merely adjustable (essentially a dimmer controlling the heater) then all bets are off. Those are either too hot while sitting (and burn the tip plating), or get too cool when soldering with no boost in power to compensate.

That's great what you all are doing! In the greater Dayton area I used to run a program out of Furtopia called "Art for Kids". We'd take furry artists and fur suiters to children's hospitals. The the artists would draw for the kids and the fur suiters would perform. Some great memories. Glad to see others doing similar projects!

Dear Nikki... I'm new (at your channel) and I'm old... not too old that I could not drive... and it is one of my passions. Hope can get the electric car revolution. Nikki, please, I would like to 'promote' your channel among my colleagues... and I am looking for a special one (I could not fine!). Would you - of some fellows - help me find: is one video in which you comment about the "good channels" in RU-vid you recommend. Could someone help? Thank you for your attention. Best regards.

Definite need for a solder sucker, spring loaded device, heat solder, place sucker over joint, push trigger, no more solder in joint. Better than wick...imo

Chose an old video to BTW you Nikki, so that hopefully you'll avoid all the creeps. You didn't obscure your license plate numbers in the latest T.E. video. Understandably, I know how much you & the family value your privacy and security & thought you'd appreciate the heads up. Last thing you need is some weirdo tracking you down through it. Hope I've done the right thing. Cheers!

Hi, happy birthday! I just watched "Nikola V Tesla" video on Transport Evolved, very interesting. Part of your conversation with the lawyer strongly stroke a cord in me. In 2014 I filed for a patent of a 3D printing technology, and there is a company (Apis Cor, www.apis-cor.com/) set up in 2014 in Boston, MA, using my technology to do their business. I've been trying to argue this situation with lawyers in Portugal (where the patent was registered) but they don't seem interested in helping me. Do you think I could get Mr. Andrew help about this? This is a very big deal for me, it's been causing me a lot of unrest.

I hope you don't mind me asking an EV question: If I bought a really old Nissan Leaf with the intention of replacing the battery, then Nissan would charge an arm and a leg. So my question is what do you think of other companies who can replace old Nissan Leaf batteries with new batteries? Is there some detail that should be researched before hand? And what are your thoughts? cleantechnica did this review cleantechnica.com/2019/04/26/a-2013-nissan-leaf-with-380-miles-of-range/ and the website for Fenix fenix.systems/leafbattery mentions the possibility of also putting additional batteries elsewhere in the car. I though if you have batteries in the boot of the car and the boot is a crumple zone, then the effects of a car crash would be interesting. Anyway I would need to find a company in the EU.

Just missed the TE Livestream. Sorry you're under the weather. Don't know if you'll see this in time. Try Echinacea. I've used it for decades. Great for helping to chase the dreaded lurgey away and so long as you aren't an asthmatic or have any auto-immune conditions you should be good to go. Great to take if anyone feels a cold or sore throat coming on. It's available in tablet or liquid form. Liquid form tastes disgusting - hide taste in orange juice. Can be bought online, at health food stores, chemists & it's sold in supermarkets here so maybe it will be in the USA. Stay safe. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Do not take for any longer than two weeks as it might mess with your kidneys.

Stone fruit comes all at once so plan for extra help in harvesting. Trees and shrubs require pruning and yes there is a book on that. A flat fine tooth file is used for sharpening shears. wash hand tools and keep them sharp (CAL FIRE) also a MADDOX that is sharp is better than pick ax(keep it sharp with a file.Yeas a little non detergent oil to stop rust is a must. Gloves help avoid injury. You get some pint size tools and gloves through Seeds of Change and propagators for young Daisy (Girl Scouts) to help start seeds. That is a merit badge also 4h Head-heart=Health-home.

Elishia attracts ladybugs and now is the time to get praying mantis pods. Each pod hatches 300 babies in four weeks of sustained 27 Celsius weather. Remember Biological means over chemical unless you are invaded. Leave ten per cent of the area wild to stop super bugs (San Joaquin agriculture 2005).

Use watering spikes for Blue Berries and raspberries which grow in acid soil. Yes there is an acid soil compost. Dig holes 1 1/2 time the root, puta small layer of gravel at boot then fill after putting in plant with acid compost burry water spike around roots ( use green watering valve 1/2 gah in series. weed barrier cloth then sand on top. Watering spikes discourage weeds and only waters plants. Orchards here use the same system with fruit tees and almonds or nut trees. Grass is discouraged in a one meter circle (clean orchard) . Fertilizer ground fish meal 4-4-3 needs larger water pipe 111 mesh.

Should you find yourself with large plants that you want to 🐝 able to move around the garden with ease minus the hassle of busting a gut digging up well established root systems or grow something with specific pH requirements, here's something I've come up with. Nikki, you'll 🐝 very familiar with the plastic H20 tanks for central heating systems that get discarded when upgrading. I've acquired 5, removed all the old fittings & blocked up the holes, drilled holes in the bottom & planted trees, large shrubs, roses, clematis - they develop hefty root systems pretty quickly. Many would consider them ugly but you've a creative soul so you'd have no trouble washing, sanding, undercoating and designing a decorating scheme using 4 plastic paints. Alternatively & this is what I did, just grow trailing plants to hide & protect the plastic from degradation from the sun etc. Assuming of course that something similar is available in the USA. At a local carboot sale met a plumber & his wife who use these to grow everything from spuds to tomatoes in. Might be useful until you can wack your heavy soil into shape. They cost me nothing, are about £200 + when new not including VAT or delivery charges. Been lucky enough to also acquire the matching smaller header tanks along with them so I'm laughing. An awful lot of gardening for free - mainly used homemade compost. Word of caution. Takes an enormous amount of compost to fill these & ALWAYS mount on bricks or equivalent so that you can get strapping underneath for TWO people to be able to shift them. I use the same heavy duty strapping (buy it online) that's used on the sides of HGV lorries. LORRIES - boy oh boy, I'm definitely showing my age using that term. Made my own moving dolly using heavy duty plywood - varnished it, & heavy duty castors. From experience, can 💯% guarantee that it takes all of the effing heck out of moving whatever & is far cheaper than the bought equivalent. If available, try local plumbers - saves them time & money disposing at landfill or alternatively try the landfill sites that might offer reduce, reuse, recycle services as is now the case in UK. Happy gardening!!

Hooray for gardening! I've got soil that is nearly that bad. 3 inches of actual soil, then 3 feet of hard black clay, then 10 feet of sand. Had to rent a gas powered auger to dig a hole to plant a couple of trees! Filled that hole with amendment soil + Perlite + fertilizer, then planted the trees. It is AMAZING how well that soil drains now!

hmm good luck here. I been watching other homestead vids many of which have chickens a mobile chicken coop seems to be best have a fixed chicken run were you said for when you dont need the chickens for other things i.e. if the coop is wide enough for both raised beds with a temp fence so chickens can till and poo on it in winter and then you can use them to turn your compost over or spread on your beds, there is likely more they can do
